Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

Poor Paul.

Why does he not just tell the others about his diagnosis?

Why does no one go with him to his hospital appointments?

Why does he not tell his ghastly mother to pay for her own meal?

I don't like the way sarah is being dressed in low tops showing off cleavage to the drug dealer, doesn't suit her character imo.

Charleygirl5 Wed 05-Apr-23 19:17:44

Stephen is apparently up to his mischief again this week. I know the outcome but I will not spoil it for those who want an element of surprise.

I wish he would leave, I do not care if it is in a police car or a plane overseas on a single ticket.

Calendargirl Wed 05-Apr-23 18:44:52

Yes, if that had been in real life Grannynannywanny, it would have been an unmitigated disaster.

Unbelievable. Pushing themselves forward at such an early stage in the meet ups.

You feel like saying to Beth “This is not all about you…”.

Grannynannywanny Wed 05-Apr-23 18:11:35

The scene with Craig, Beth and Kirk meeting Miley was cringeworthy. I hope Faye runs for the hills with Miley and Jackson and never looks back.

Doodledog Wed 05-Apr-23 18:05:20

Yes, Craigie wasn't blessed, was he? grin.

Clawdy Wed 05-Apr-23 17:06:50

Yes, she's definitely developing a thing for Jackson. And he's rather more attractive than poor Craigie!

Calendargirl Tue 04-Apr-23 08:04:20

Think Faye is leaving Corrie.

Looks like the scriptwriters are building up for her to get back with Jackson, dump Craigy, and move away with him and Miley.

Doodledog Sun 02-Apr-23 09:01:58

Will she be vying for his attention with Alya? grin He's become very popular with the ladies all of a sudden.

I agree that Daniel needs more exciting storylines. He's a good-looking lad, but has no personality.

vegansrock Sun 02-Apr-23 07:43:21

Daisy is clearly going to try to get together with Ryan - much more suited to her than Daniel who has been a bit of a wet lettuce recently.

If Dee Dee was such a hot shot lawyer she wouldn’t be working in a down at heel backstreet solicitors employing Paul.

Doodledog Thu 30-Mar-23 11:47:39

Clawdy

Wouldn't a lovely, happy wedding day have been nice to watch, though! Never going to happen on Corrie.

Most, if not all, of Gail's weddings were lovely, happy occasions, I think. And look how they turned out.

Oh.

Calendargirl Thu 30-Mar-23 11:02:38

Adam and Dee Dee’s solicitors office does not inspire confidence, if they can randomly employ Paul to sort out the filing system.

Confidential paperwork? Probably the talk of the street before long.

Plus fairly obvious that Paul’s bad hand will not be much use for heavy lifting.

I thought it was a bit ridiculous Daisy alone in the car park after a madman ( still on the loose ) has just tried to throw acid all over her. No police, no Daniel or Jenny protecting her?
As if.
But a good storyline nonetheless, and one that needs highlighting.

I agree. Up until that bit, it was excellent. Couldn’t believe that Daniel or Jenny didn’t go out looking for her especially as she was in such a fragile state. I also said to my husband “ she’s got scissors and will stab him.”

I avoid spoilers as much as possible, as I like having the element of surprise when scenes play out. Unfortunately, I did see a spoiler about an acid attack, so was aware it was coming. I assumed though, that it would be Daisy who would be the victim. Which Justin intended she would be, of course, but it was shocking when Ryan got in the way and bore the main brunt of it.

What shocked me, because I'd never really considered it, was the fizzing sound effect, which I think really punched home the message.

I thought Daisy's "rant" to the police officer, listing everything she had done to try and get Justin stopped from stalking and harassing her, was very well done. The police officer was clearly uncomfortable at hearing it, and more than likely agreed with Daisy, that the police's hands were tied, and there was nothing they could do.

It would be wonderful if this storyline led to a change in the law, so that police can in future take action against stalkers.

It was a harrowing episode to watch, but so well done.

Yes, if in a few month's time, Ryan's face has miraculously healed with skin grafts, it will give the wrong impression.

I wondered last night whether this is a precursor to him being written out. He'd have to put make-up on for each and every scene otherwise.

Doodledog Tue 28-Mar-23 09:35:16

I might start a thread about trigger warnings before TV shows, as it's an interesting topic.

I think if they are going to deal with horrible things like acid attacks (or any sort of attack, such as Seb's murder) they should be realistic. It was hard to listen to Ryan's screams of agony, but having acid in the face must hurt, and of they hadn't made that clear it would have been irresponsible, IMO. I think they also have a duty to show the aftermath - it's more damaging to have someone walk away from a violent incident, as it gives the wrong impression of how they can affect the victim.

CatsCatsCats Tue 28-Mar-23 09:28:03

For once, last night's standard and boring pre-announcement (....with scenes some viewers may find upsetting) was justified. Doodledog, I also felt shaken up in the interval. It was very well done.

In the scene in the hospital car park, I honestly thought Daisy was going to stab Justin with the scissors she'd picked up in the Rovers to cut off Ryan's clothes. I suppose the police turning up to arrest him was more appropriate though (albeit too late).

Someone who gets annoyed as much as I do about the pre-warnings made me laugh last week, asking how come there wasn't a warning about the episode where Cerberus died. That sad scene warranted a warning a lot more than other scenes do.

BlueBelle Mon 27-Mar-23 22:35:51

Well it may be horrific but it happens and I think it was handled well We had a young girl get acid thrown in her face by an ex not far from where I live and before anyone blames another culture they were both English
I think Corrie actually did a good job tonight

Primrose53 Mon 27-Mar-23 21:39:30

Horrific episode tonight.

Calendargirl Mon 27-Mar-23 21:18:19

Poor Ryan.

Hope Daisy and Daniel now slip off to a register office, with Jenny and Ken as witnesses, and just get married quietly.

Doodledog Mon 27-Mar-23 21:17:13

I think that soaps can be much more effective at raising awareness of things like this, as we feel we 'know' the characters. In an hour-long drama there isn't that connection.

It was well done - I felt quite shaken in the interval.

sodapop Mon 27-Mar-23 21:14:11

I agree BlueBelle stalking is still not taken seriously by some police officers and can escalate as we saw tonight. Good episode .
