Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

I think that was very well done

BlueBelle Mon 27-Mar-23 20:44:54

Ohhhh tough tonight ….well done though

Doodledog Mon 27-Mar-23 20:34:58

This is hard to watch, isn't it?

Lyndylou Mon 27-Mar-23 15:27:02

I think the issue Charleygirl5 is that eccles cakes contain raisins and they can put a dog into kidney failure very quickly. Remember she had sat up all night with him before he got to the vet. I think it is a good bit of publicity make dog owners aware, though, painful as it was to watch.

Doodledog Mon 27-Mar-23 14:07:09

I don't think that they are suggesting Death By Eccles Cake, though. Roy is worried that he had left one unmopped because of his SM addiction, and Evelyn is looking for someone to blame. Cerberus died of old age, I think - a lot of dogs get kidney problems at the end. I'm sure the vet will put them straight.

Charleygirl5 Mon 27-Mar-23 13:59:29

Stephen is apparently going to drown somebody this week. He appears to be able to get away with murder so easily. The other two bodies were never found.

Cerebus eating a cake a couple of days before he was euthanased would not have caused his long term kidney failure- the writers should get their facts straight first.

Looks like we have another sad storyline coming up re Paul.

😥

Kate1949 Thu 23-Mar-23 14:58:58

I thought the same CoolCoco. The scene with Cerberus was heartbreaking. Maureen Lipman was brilliant.

CoolCoco Thu 23-Mar-23 14:52:38

I don't think super stylish Daisy would have picked such a frumpy dress for Amy.

Justwidowed Thu 23-Mar-23 09:45:44

Gave up on Corrie six months ago after wstching it from the very start. The storylines were becoming more silly and stupid.I then started watching Classic Corrie.
What a difference amusing characters ,funny storylines and proper acting.Timeline is approximately 20 years ago.

sodapop Thu 23-Mar-23 09:03:07

I shed a tear at last night's episode as well. Poor Cerberus. Maureen Lipman as always played her part to perfection.

Bellasnana Thu 23-Mar-23 08:41:11

After watching Corrie and Emmerdale for as long as I can remember, I gave up on both a few months ago. Too much negativity. I feel quite liberated now I’m not wasting my time on these soaps!😂

Beechnut Thu 23-Mar-23 07:39:46

Last night’s episode caused a few tears to fall🐾

Calendargirl Thu 23-Mar-23 06:54:27

I don’t hold out much hope for the longevity of Sarah and Adam’s marriage really.

It doesn’t seem to take much for her eye to wander.

She and Damon were definitely flirting.

As for daft Paul to keep doling out money to Gemma, is it for gas bills (which with all those children she could surely get extra support somehow) or to pay for a silly wedding?

Think his own rent should be a priority.

Fridayschild Wed 22-Mar-23 23:27:20

I don’t know how I’ve missed this thread. As an avid corrie-watcher I so agree with many of these comments. There are too many horrible storylines going on just now and not enough light hearted things. Corrie used to seem to have the right balance but now it’s all about shocking the audience and trying to score points over the other soaps. I never did take to Eastenders with all its doom and gloom and stopped watching not long after I started it!
The Stephen storyline is frustrating, and he’s sooo annoying. Will we really have to wait till Christmas to get rid of him?
The Daisy stalking storyline is horrible. I hear there’s going to be an acid attack.
The Aaron/Amy thing is so unlikely. Why did they do that to the Aaron character who seemed a nice lad.
Now they’ve killed off poor Cerberus. How could they do that to Evelyn!
What’s going to happen to Carla?
The list is endless.
Nobody has anything nice going on.
When will they make us smile again?!
Hurrumph, rant probably not over! 😂

Charleygirl5 Wed 22-Mar-23 22:48:10

I hate the thought of Stephen being there all year. I read months ago that his demise was soon. They lied!

I read today what Justin will be up to next on the day of the wedding. Another nasty piece of work.

Lyndylou Wed 22-Mar-23 21:01:33

What, no helpline? I can't remember the last time Corrie reduced me to tears. Poor old Cerberus.

Aveline Wed 22-Mar-23 20:59:58

Oh Cerberus! So sad and so well acted. Part of life for most of us. Over the years we've had many of these sad trips to the vet. Good for Corrie to recognise that and present it so well.

Calendargirl Wed 22-Mar-23 20:43:21

Maureen Lipman’s acting some of the best we’ve seen from any of the adults lately.

BlueBelle Wed 22-Mar-23 20:31:37

Oh dear Cerberus is the best actor on the setv

Calendargirl Wed 22-Mar-23 20:30:00

Oh, poor Evelyn.

She was rather unfair to Roy though. Unless he was dog sitting, which I don’t think he was, then surely it was up to her to see where Cerberus was, and what he was eating.

Don’t like to think of dogs wandering round cafes anyhow.

Doodledog Tue 21-Mar-23 13:00:32

Oh no! 'All year', as in until Christmas?? I don't think I could bear that. He's a hopeless actor and the storyline is ridiculous.

I also know the upcoming storyline (I had to google after reading Clawdy's post) and much depends on how it is handled. The trouble with 'social issue' stories is that if they are brushed aside or always end well (eg with liver transplants that don't need a lifetime of anti-rejection drugs) they can minimise the problem. Sometimes they have to have bad endings, and we don't know how bad this one is going to be (or the account I read didn't give that away).

humptydumpty Mon 20-Mar-23 21:48:25

Sadly I saw an interview with the actor who plays Stephen implying he was going to be in the show ALL YEAR (groan). Why doesn't the doctor ever do a blood test for Carla?

Calendargirl Mon 20-Mar-23 20:57:53

Clawdy

I saw a spoiler in a newspaper today revealing an upcoming storyline which is so horrible I'm not sure I can continue watching. Something very wrong with these writers.

Who is it about?

lemsip Mon 20-Mar-23 20:46:38

I read that too clawdy and have emailed
[email protected] to tell them what I think of that idea
