Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

His Mum is busy being a dinner lady on Waterloo Road!

Clawdy Thu 18-May-23 08:02:18

Yes, Michelle's non-appearance is ridiculous. I know the actress obviously can't be there, but they could have Ryan saying "Mum's just gone" or "Can't see you now, Mum's here" or something. It would look odd, but not as odd as her not seeing him.

Calendargirl Wed 17-May-23 21:29:56

Surely Michelle would have visited her sick son before now?

I know she had an operation, but that was weeks ago.

Acid attack, then sepsis.

Any mum would have been at his bedside by now, not relying on a band of neighbours.

Someone has mentioned Emma?

Oh, of course, Emma the hairdresser, Steve’s other long-lost daughter who went to Australia.

Steve never ever mentions her.

How soon they forget!

Crikey, I had forgotten all about Emma!

just watched the actual scene on you tube. Both very drunk but didn't hear her say 'no' . I must be bored.

Good point Doodledog. At least this storyline is making people think though.

Yes, and it's not over yet. A lot will depend on what happens later, I suppose.

I have very mixed feelings on this one. Yes, they were both drunk, but being drunk is not a defence in law. If you punch someone when drunk you are treated exactly the same as if you'd been sober. Also, Amy said no. There is no doubt about that for us as viewers (as there would be in most rape situations, whether drink is involved or not). Having sex with someone who not only is too drunk to consent but has explicitly not consented is rape.

I feel a tiny bit sorry for Aaron, as I don't think he set out to rape Amy, and he probably wouldn't have done what he did when sober; but I really don't like the message that men are at the mercy of their hormones and 'can't control themselves', that puts all the responsibility onto women.

Drunk or sober (and he was sober enough to have sex) he knew that Amy had said no, but did it anyway. That's why I'm not keen on this storyline. If they want to cover date rape I think they should have been a lot clearer about guilt or innocence. The scales are already weighted against women in these situations, and too many people are convinced that they 'were asking for it'. Whatever happens in this story, I worry that it will feed into that way of thinking.

lemsip Wed 17-May-23 09:17:28

I agree with you charleygirl I think it 'cruel' to hound aaron when they were both drunk.

Aveline Tue 16-May-23 10:55:38

I agree Charleygirl. A very messy situation all round. I suspect it's probably quite common. Alcohol!!

Charleygirl5 Tue 16-May-23 09:33:13

At least we did not have Stephen on for the entire hour last night but I wish that Amy, Aaron, Summer and now Mia take a one way trip somewhere, anywhere and give us a rest.

Being controversial I do not believe Aaron raped Amy, it was six of one and half a dozen of the other. That will set the cat among the pigeons.

Aveline Tue 16-May-23 09:08:46

It's the way they talk these days.

Clawdy Tue 16-May-23 08:02:03

That's exactly what I thought!

Calendargirl Tue 16-May-23 06:35:12

Mia’s way of speaking is just like Summer’s. She must have been giving her tips.

vegansrock Tue 16-May-23 05:38:12

Underworld is so overstaffed on the management side and has so few machinists it would have relocated to China yonks ago. We’re all bored with Amy/Aaron/Summer and now Mia scriptwriters! Gemma’s wedding is bound to be a bad taste fest. Where is Roy and the dog???

Aveline Mon 15-May-23 15:08:21

Well they had to think of something to excuse her absence and Max is already in the one and only prison and Ryan's in the hospital!

Doodledog Mon 15-May-23 12:18:20

How much profit is a small independent factory like Underworld likely to make, particularly when staffed by largely unqualified people who pop in and out and spend every lunchtime in the pub?

How they can afford to second a machinist (has Fiz ever shown any sort of management potential before now?) to stay on expenses for an indefinite period in a location miles away is beyond me.

Aveline Sun 14-May-23 09:08:46

She'll be on expenses so Underworld will be paying I expect.

Clawdy Sun 14-May-23 08:12:37

Who is paying for Fiz's accommodation while she's in Norfolk? It sounded rather nice from her description!

vegansrock Sun 14-May-23 04:25:30

One thing Fiz should ban in the fictional Norfolk factory is the Underworld habit of eating sandwiches and biscuits , drinking coffee etc whilst seated at the sewing machine with all the fabric around them. This would be a sackable offence in any garment factory.

The quads were there for all to see, those who missed it even on catch up need to watch again maybe and don't blink!

I tend to be doing other things when it's on, and listen rather than watch, so I do often miss things.

I think Jacob will return to the Street sometime, and Damon will make up with him, make amends for being a rubbish dad, and rebuild their relationship.

Think Damon will be a keeper in the programme.

don’t think Damon will be a keeper as he lives in Australia with his family. Wish he would though as he brings some excitement to the Street and dozy old Sarah just cannot resist him! Those big doe eyes flutter and then he touches her and she just melts.

Charleygirl5 Sat 13-May-23 10:21:35

Sarah's skirts are becoming shorter each time we see her. I had to look twice last night to see if she had remembered to put one on.

I saw the quads- there is serious overcrowding there.

Our NHS would save £££s if sepsis has such a spectacular recovery in real life from being unconscious to sitting up in bed with his phone. The NHS must take a leaf out of Coronation Street's medical book.

It's amazing how so few knicker stitchers can produce such a huge output. No wonder they're outsourcing to Norwich of all places.

Quite! I doubt whether there has been a factory of any sort in Norwich for 50 years. Norwich was famous for Shoe factories and Chocolate factories, never clothes to my knowledge.

The could at least have sent her to Leicester or Bradford where some small clothes factories still exist.

Had to laugh at Fizz on her video call to her kids when she said she could see a field from her window!!!
