Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

Oh, thanks very much, Alioop. Good to hear the Leo story is moving on. About time!

Alioop Fri 30-Dec-22 16:10:25

Leo's dad was drunk and was going to tell Jenny that Leo never made it to Canada and that his policeman friend found out his mobile had been used in Coronation Street. Stephen was watching for him tried to stop him going and Leo's dad stepped out on the road and a van hit him. That's how it ended, but I would say he's definitely dead.
All the rest was about Sarah, etc. Oh and Billy turned up at the weird couples house to see Summer.
Think that was it 😁

NotTooOld Fri 30-Dec-22 16:03:52

Can anyone give me a quick fill in on what was in last night's episode, please? I didn't know it was on. Wish they wouldn't mess about with the listings.

vegansrock Thu 29-Dec-22 21:06:16

Seems like Stephen is off the hook once again…

Alioop Thu 29-Dec-22 18:42:19

I just hope Toyah doesn't drop Spider in it with her meddling at times or he will be in deep trouble.

vegansrock Thu 29-Dec-22 17:38:59

Just a heads up- there is a 30 minute episode tonight ( Thursday)

Grannynannywanny Thu 29-Dec-22 13:31:07

Wasn't Griff some sort of builder?

Yes, didn’t he turn up with a ladder during the ongoing stupid story line about the leaking roof?

I still find it hard to believe that Spider is a police officer. He’s unconvincing in every way. I wonder when his under cover mission is over if he’ll don his uniform and patrol the cobbles with our Craigy. Between them they might solve Leo’s murder mystery.

Wasn't Griff some sort of builder?

Calendargirl Thu 29-Dec-22 07:06:11

If I were Elaine, I wouldn’t be putting my £12k of equity into some daft start up business dreamed up by the neighbours, despite Stephen’s marvellous business sense, especially as he looks distinctly seedy most of the time.

What does Griff do for a living? He seems to live in a nice flat, has endless cans of beer to dole out to all his mates, but never seems to do a stroke of work, same as all the others.

What a shower they all are.

Alioop Thu 29-Dec-22 05:37:41

I wonder has Leo's dad has found out his son never got to Canada, that creepy Stephen needs to be found out soon. Yes, all that with Elaine's house was rubbish, her house sale goes through in a day and just after Christmas too. When I was selling up took a solicitor 3 days to phone you back. Close the market, Christmas is over.

vegansrock Wed 28-Dec-22 21:20:53

I’m confused - one minute Elaine says the house sale is all off then it’s all on and money is being transferred - and she’s moving out immediately into Sally and Tim’s - what could go wrong there? Will Sarah ever get the money? What is the new development in the Leo case and isn’t it convenient that Stephen was on hand to overhear? What on earth is Summer doing in that creepy couples house?

Nanatoone Wed 28-Dec-22 18:25:58

Elaine is a dire character (love the actress), it sounds mean but she looks far too old for Stephen. His wife is a gorgeous young(er) woman. I don’t understand the Max story, he says they aren’t racists but how stupid is he exactly? In one breath he’s delighted at his Xmas present from his dad and then the next he’s all “I hate you”. Sigh.

Calendargirl Wed 28-Dec-22 10:33:46

And why on earth would Elaine, when Gail announced she needed to speak to Stephen about something important, follow them into their home, listen to Gail start talking about something private, no relevance to Elaine, and say “Does anyone want a brew, should I go and make one?”

In someone else’s kitchen? Joining in a conversation nothing to do with her?

I was hoping Gail would say “Push off Elaine, this is nothing to do with you. Please leave my house!”

The scripts have been even more dire over Christmas, if that is even possible.

Kate1949 Wed 28-Dec-22 09:57:01

Eileen will definitely have a lovy tan after her stint in the I'm A Celebrity jungle!

Calendargirl Wed 28-Dec-22 07:05:35

Still think it odd that Sam, (12 years old or similar?) with his own troubled past, would be allowed to go on a cruise just accompanied by his gran, in her 80’s, with history of depression, attempted suicide, excesss drinking.

Are they sharing a cabin? Or does Stephen’s generosity stretch to one each?

vegansrock Wed 28-Dec-22 06:06:16

I wonder if we will be treated with scenes from the cruise ship with Audrey hitting the bar and Sam on deck with his telescope. Though we all know these holidays are to give the actors time to do Panto or relax in their Spanish villas. No doubt Eileen will come back with a Mediterranean tan to match that of David and Kevin.

NotTooOld Tue 27-Dec-22 21:15:10

I have to agree with Alioop about Max and his constantly weird smiling. I can't bear to watch him.

Calendargirl Tue 27-Dec-22 07:35:46

Why were they all trailing about around that outdoor market on Boxing Day? Surely it would have packed up for Christmas?

Am amazed how Audrey, Sam and Eileen were all setting off on important holidays with not much preparation. Eileen especially, only knew about hers the day before, but had a visa all ready, vaccinations all up to date I assume, and because she wasn’t due to the airport until afternoon, felt able to face the Boxing Day sales to trawl for a new sofa.

What a woman! I would have been packing, ticking items off lists, tidying the house…..

Oh, and Street Cars could obviously manage without her for the next month.

BlueBelle Tue 27-Dec-22 07:04:05

I disagree alioop about Max I think he a good actor and playing a good part showing how young teens can easily be ‘recruited’ into all sorts of nasties I think he does well
I do agree about Stephen awful actor and not an attractive character he can go back as soon as they like …but… Leo and the murder seem totally forgotten Jenny grieved for about one day and no one wondering anything so is that just a non starter ?

Alioop Tue 27-Dec-22 04:09:04

Stephen needs to go back to Canada pronto, what a damn annoying man he is. He can put his nephew Max, with his stupid grin and weird eyebrows, in his suitcase and take him away with him.

it may improve if we tell them..

The 'dolls house chest of drawers' also appeared on 'Would I lie to you'. Nice to see a Soap wedding actually go ahead so happily (thanks to intervention by Santa). Good to have a whole christmas episode funny and happy (okay, except for Max, Griff, Spider story). Just hope that comes to a conclusion pretty soon. Mind you, Max's burns are healing so rapidly!!!!

lemsip Mon 26-Dec-22 09:04:07

The tiny sofa story really happens and has been on rip off britain....A person bought a chest of drawers and what arrived and was shown on the show was a tiny dolls house one! buyer beware check dimensions.. scammers are everywhere..
two days ago on the news a person purchased a computer and box contained two large boxes ,of cornflakes

corries struggling for decent scriptslately though

Grannynannywanny Mon 26-Dec-22 08:45:41

The sofa storyline was annoyingly silly. Especially when they made a makeshift one from a coffin.

There were some comical moments of double entendre humour. Mary’s peonies story was very funny.

The wedding went ahead and I was hoping till the last moment that Alina would arrive with baby Tyrone. Did anyone think when Fiz’s Good samaritan was strolling along the middle of the street in the final scene he was about to be struck by their taxi?

ParlorGames Mon 26-Dec-22 08:41:26

I find it all a bit hackneyed to be honest. Surely, if Max presented at A & E with suspicious burns wouldn't Children's Social Services be all over it regarding a safeguarding issue? Oh, I forgot, it is TV so normal rules do not apply.
