The Snowgran

I can't stand the Christmas adverts that are contrived to "tug at our heartstrings". We don't need these commercials to know that there are people who will struggle not just at Christmas. Charities that can help need support all year round. Sorry for bit of a rant but I have a strong allergy to anything that tries to manipulate my emotions.

Yes, bereft and lonely, but not penniless and "can't afford" stuff is what I meant by the follow up comment.

There is no poverty so awful as being alone and feeling unloved

Should stay at home eating mince pies and chocolates looking forward to Slimming World or WW after festivities. That's what this poor Gran will do!

I donate every year to Salvation Army, they help people who are in need.

As I see it, she is frozen to the core with loneliness because everyone else around her has company. When she is able to connect with her family, (no doubt in sunny warmer climes), she melts and has no longer has any need for her carrot nose.

I had to see it twice to get the point, and perhaps I am being stupid, but I am still not sure whether the Snowgran is a Snowgran because no-one remembers her, or because she can't afford to pay for heating.

I haven't seen the O2 ad, but it's the animal appeals that always get to me - cats, dogs, donkeys, bears - I'd give to all of them if I could, but I can't so I just have to look away or walk away.

I fast forward all ads There are so many at this time of year designed to tug your heart strings. I would spend my days in tears if I watched them.

Oh my goodness it's so heartbreaking. It's the one that really got to me this year and to think that's how some poor folk are at Christmas.💔

These sort of adverts often make me gulp around Christmas time, even though I have no experience.
I dont know why but that one reminds me of the old grandpa in Home Alone who gets reunited with his DGD. I always cry every year.

It's beautiful, but we are not the target audience. I hope the youngsters see it.

Yes I have seen it Maw it doesn’t take a lot to make me shed a tear at this time of year extremely poignant.
