What advert makes you want to throw something at the telly?

There are so many. I particularly cringe at the one for Our Time dating for over 50s. I just want to punch the two simpering actors! Grrrrrr
Also, car adverts like Peugeot who think they’ll sell cars by speaking in a silly French accent.
I must be getting old!

I have a little rule, very seldom broken, to never buy anything that’s advertised.

The BBC is for EVERYONE! - I don't think so

the women sitting on the loo telling us about pads

This one. A step too far! And ads showing women exercising, and no pad showing .
Thankfully they didn't have these when I was young. I would have been so embarrassed watching telly with my boyfriend.

I hate the incontinance pads ones too, especially the one with the two women at the yoga class and one says she can now “let it all go” I just imagine her peeing herself in the class. Gross!

I cant stand the we buy any car advert. It just grates on me. There are a few adverts at present that I get so annoyed with.

Since we have had Sky Glass I mainly only watch tv by streaming which usually means no adverts ! I’ve forgotten what they are 😂

That silly holiday ad with the Christmas music and an awful boy with an ice cream.

Just terrible.

Oh yes, isn’t he just horrible. I’d like to shove his ice cream in his face.

Nanny123 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:49:29

We record most things so we can zip through the ad.

Particularly the one advertising panty liners/towels for women. Paper pads/pants for loss of bladder control, ointments/creams for women for vaginal dryness. All totally embarrassing.

Men chewing sweets in children voices, that one, cringe

Strangely I find those quite funny 😉

It makes me feel sick 😵‍💫🤢

Verisure alarms 😤

suse1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:18:24

I cannot watch the dating add where he imitates the painting. Absolutely dire.

polly123 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:17:44

Probably all of them but on the rare occasion when I can't fast forward....find most of them patronising especially Verisure, cremation ads and anything to do with equity release. I can't believe people actually get paid for all these syrupy and silly ads where they actually haven't got a clue about the real world.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:15:37

No 1 - Daisy!!

Then the ones where a woman gets in the sit down bath, there's no mention of how long she freezes while the bath fills and she always gets out quite dry!

Hobbs1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:13:12

Most of them, but in particular all of those showing sanitary pads and bladder control, no need to advertise these on TV, there’s enough information online and in shops. Also the idiots leaping out of their cars, doing ridiculous dancing because they sold their car with we buy any car, drives me absolutely insane 😡🤬

I would probably give up watching TV were it not for recording everything we want to watch and then skipping through the ads. An hour programme takes about 45 minutes to watch if you can skip the build up and the ad breaks - I would lose the thread of some plots with the length of the break - five minutes each time.

madeleine45 Sat 18-Feb-23 13:55:55

mute on on the rare occasion I am watching itv stuff. The length of time the ads are on has definitely increased. Once time for a quick trip to the loo or fetch a jumper now time to make coffee and pour it out and they are still waffling on. The only adverts that register are those that ensure I will not use the product so stupid go compare and the annoying telephone jiggling about something direct. The first advert that used to really annoy me from years ago was the twee "why are your hands so soft" irritating child in itself but even all those years ago implying that only women washed up did not wash with me!!

On the beach , what a dreadful family what was the company thinking of when putting this ad together.

Quite. I think it's a clumsy effort to show a " normal" family on holiday........unlike " the Rheinhardts" ha ha!! Remember them? Audi? We used to nudge each other if we saw a stuck up looking couple/ family when we were out n about and mouth' Rheinhardts!' to each other 🤣🤣

Willow500 Sat 18-Feb-23 13:50:06

That stupid, stupid purple dancing cushion and the daft people prancing along behind it advertising one of the train companies - it's bad enough it's so annoying but doing it when there are so many train strikes is just infuriating!!

I agree about the graphic period pads too - anyone who needs them knows exactly what goes on them without the colouring!

BeneathTheHowlingStars Sat 18-Feb-23 13:48:03

The one that gets my back up most is the fabric softener one with the stupid song 'where is the sun etc' plus all perfume ads which seem to be on during every single ad break. Oh and there's a Hays travel one with a really annoying song.

Nannan2 Sat 18-Feb-23 13:34:22

Yes the daisy daisy daisy gets on my wick ! And can't see why on earth we would want to see that woman sitting on the loo advertising incontinance pads?oh, & that where they just scream really loud for ages.
