Beyond Paradise - thoughts and comments?

I excitedly turned on the new series of Beyond Paradise as it promised all the elements of things I like. I turned over after five minutes as it was sooooo flat for me. Is it just me who finds it underwhelming and am I missing something?!

I am enjoying it so far. As with Death in Paradise I love the scenery and the gentle pace. Very undemanding which is what I need sometimes.

Enjoying it so far - as others have said, light Friday night viewing. Both OH and I recognised the young, curly haired policeman and were trying to remember from what show. He's Dylan Llewellyn and was in Derry Girls.

Thanks Farmor15 - it was bugging me where I knew him from!
So far, I like this better than Death in Paradise - which is so formulaic I switch off after 10 mins (mentally not physically, as DH loves it!)
I like Kris Marshall, but I think, at 50, he is a bit old for the part he is playing.

Enjoyable easy Friday night viewing. That ending of second episode was a bit unlikely though - hugging the husband who had contemplated killing your kids!

Agree with other comments, this is nice, pleasant easy to watch Friday night viewing. Was surprised to see DIP following it this week, as I thought (and was correct) that the current series finished the previsous Friday. Had to do some mental juggling to realise it was a repeat. Still, this gives two nice hours of viewing at the end of each week.

Easy enough viewing. I hope the character Marvellous Harris appears often. He was good for a chuckle.

I liked his Wendy house comment!
I’ve always liked ‘Humphrey’ especially when he was Nick in ‘My Family’

It’s a nice light programme. I’m enjoying it. I do like Humphrey.

Lovely to see Barbara Flynn and Ruth Maddox (RIP). ❤️

Yes! Haven't seen Barbara Flynn for ages and that is sad to hear about Ruth Maddox.

Hi-de-Hi, Ruth, you will not be forgotten.

Sadly, Ruth Madoc died in Torquay at the end of last year whilst rehearsing for a pantomime at our main theatre here. She fell at her digs and died in hospital, following surgery.

Previous GN obsessions!

At least it's a bottlebrush! Could have been worse. See other thread grin

Oh, which one?

I liked this and found it refreshing and a good watch for a Friday night. Keep it going.

It is a bit twee. Fine for easy viewing. Recognised Looe immediately.

It’s not riveting but easy viewing.

😂😂😂
Unlike a bottlebrush it sticks out in all directions until tamed, henetha!

Your hair must be beautiful too then, Callistemon 😁

Yes, I thought the second programme was somewhat better too.
It's all a bit of relaxing, harmless viewing- but that's what ye get down 'ere ..... a few stolen bicycles, sheep blocking the lanes and mainly law abiding folk. I can't see there being a murder a week like on Saint Marie. Though the wine grower might be sinister?
Not up there with Doc Martin either, but I will stick with it.

😂😂😂

You'd shouldn't be surprised what goes on in sleepy 'Devon' towns Joseanne

Watched episode 1 and not overwhelmed, but episode 2 was better. I think we’ll carry in watching.

It is quite gentle and charming, with lovely venues... a bit better this week.. we'll see

I quite enjoy this programme. The characters are interesting and I like several of the actors playing them. The setting is a pleasant change from gritty urban locations. Seems ideal relaxing viewing.

I realised when Ralf Little was talking about leaving last week, that I've always found the first episodes with a new Death in Paradise inspector really irritating - and I have liked all the actors involved, which made it worse! Consequently I half expected to watch a few before deciding to watch it regularly.
Ep 1 was ok. Ep 2 better (and quite emotional)
Lovely to see Ruth Madoc in her final role, and their acknowledgement of her at the end.
