That's it really. DH and I love a murder mystery and this series has been fantastic. If you like Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise or Poirot this one will be for you. It's six espisodes and after the first one we went onto BBC IPlayer and watched the rest over a couple of evenings. Anthony Horowitz wrote it and I love anything he's involved with.

It's worth watching just for Lesley Manville's clothes. She's a fantastic actress.

Just finished it recently and loved it. Now I need to read the book again.

Just watched the first episode (been busy!) and we lived it. I, too, have extreme cardigan envy.

Ok now what do I watch?
I am looking forward to your recommendations. grin

I'm working my way through this but have fallen asleep once or twice so it's not really keeping me on my toes mentally even though it's quite challenging. I'm really not a fan of time jumping, mostly can't stand it as I find it annoying. The only time I liked it was in a lovely movie called The Lake House with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

I’ll be trying MM and others helpfully mentioned!
I find it so helpful to get recommendations, thank you.

I like the way Lesley Manville takes her glasses on and off, she does it quite often in any role she’s in.

Makes wearing glasses look quirky and attractive somehow, don’t know why.

🤓

I binge watched it this week. Thanks for the heads up!
I enjoyed it. Lesley Manville is superb. Totally convincing

Quirky and very watchable.

As recommended above I've just shelled out (sky store) to watch "Mrs Harris goes to Paris".

Its totally engaging and delightful. Well worth it! Cheaper than a night out with a Sav blanc in my own home.

Really enjoyed Magpie Murders. Clever twist. Thought Foyles War excellent too, written by Anthony Horowitz. But I do have a crush on Michael Kitchens, sigh.....

He's mine, all mine I tell you...

Aldom

Hinterland is on BBC I Player.

Wyllow3 Sun 09-Apr-23 14:19:55

Apparently there is a second series planned.

Will we be in Crete...? (Can't help hoping so - sun, sea.....)

Kryptonite Sun 09-Apr-23 14:14:23

Totally agree. Absolutely loved it. Clever idea to interweave the storybook with present day. Hope there'll be more of this.

Aldom Sun 09-Apr-23 12:28:07

Would someone be able to tell me what channel Hinterland is on please.
I watched one and a bit episodes of Magpie Murders then gave up. Too unrealistic for me.

Wasn't well with a chest infection so I binged the whole series really enjoyed it, with tea and ginger nuts which yes I did dunk lol

Cagsy Sun 09-Apr-23 11:01:18

I’’m enjoying it too, DH however is totally lost and can’t cope with the jumping between times

songstress60 Sun 09-Apr-23 09:00:57

I utterly HATE series like this. Not a fan of "Midsomer Murders" or "Vera" or "Morse". Too slow and boring. Give me something gritty like "CSI" or "Law And Order"

Rosalyn69 Sun 09-Apr-23 06:04:05

DH and I both found it dreadful. 🤔
We did love Foyle’s War though.

merlotgran Sat 08-Apr-23 23:47:19

I’m really enjoying it.

And there’s something about Foyle’s War that draws me towards the repeats that I don’t get with any other series.

cc Sat 08-Apr-23 18:46:12

I loved Foyle's War too, so sorry when it eventually finished.
