That's it really. DH and I love a murder mystery and this series has been fantastic. If you like Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise or Poirot this one will be for you. It's six espisodes and after the first one we went onto BBC IPlayer and watched the rest over a couple of evenings. Anthony Horowitz wrote it and I love anything he's involved with.

It's worth watching just for Lesley Manville's clothes. She's a fantastic actress.

The book was pretty good too, so just bought the follow on.
Under the genre of “cosy crime fiction” in D H Smith.😊

I really enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of Anthony Horowitz but this was quirky and interesting and fairly light.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have set it to record, or I might do as you did and watch the lot ahead of time.

Ive only watched the first one and I have serious cardigan envy from the one she was wearing at home with mauve flowers!

Dollymixtures You wait until you see some of the other outfits Lesley M wears. I make my own clothes and I have got so much inspiration from the series.

I love Lesley Manville, and we both enjoyed the program. From the above posts I'm really forward to seeing the clothes that she'll be wearing.

Thanks for the tip, I really enjoyed the book, and Lesley Manville is one of my favourite actors, so I’ll definitely be looking this one up.

I’m not really a fan of cosy crime drama, so wasn’t expecting to enjoy this, but I did. I couldn’t help thinking how much better suited it would be to Sunday nights than the latest adaptation of Great Expectations!

Thumbs up from me.

It started off promising but I switched off when she put her feet up and started reading the book. Am I right in thinking the murders are played out in the book possibly 1940s? not a present day murder mystery.?

Watched last year on Britbox. Fantastic! Can’t wait for the next series.

Wyllow3 Thu 06-Apr-23 13:09:39

Alex Rider series noted.

glammagran Thu 06-Apr-23 13:25:04

kissngate the clues to the murder in the present day are contained within the book set in the 1930’s (Hope I’ve got the correct decade).

I am loving this series, LM is my favourite actress. Light entertainment at its best. Can't wait to watch the last three episodes.

I almost wish I hadn't seen it on Britbox last year so I could watch it all over again! Give it time though. I'll soon forget and think, ' Ooh this looks good, must watch?'
