Team Evelyn for me I would think the years and years of trying to ‘save’ Cassie has made her have a thick skin and a sharp tongue but she’s crumbling underneath and if she once gives in to her sorrows she ll never regain her composure so has to put the hard crust on to save a bit of herself
Not at all
. I'm usually the one not paying attention and asking the questions.
I'm Team Evelyn too, as she comes across as well-meaning if brusque, but also as she is played by Maureen Lipman, and Cassie is Claire Sweeney, and I much prefer one to the other. Not fair, I know, but in the grand scheme of things neither of them will care much, will they?
Ahhh right... thank you Doodledog .... im swaying on Evelyn telling truth ..... but maybe its because i think she is brilliant .....
Thank you again....
We don't know yet, Serendipity, but so far Cassie hasn't done much to redeem herself.
Cassie and Evelyn
So who is telling truth ?
I never watched Brookside so the actress playing Cassie doesn't mean a thing to me other than she's an actress but I've missed a few episodes and the threads i have read don't give me any indication ......
I think Evelyn is fantastic....😊
Doodledog I agree with you about 'cassie ' actress claire sweeney. I didn't like her in brookside either.
I love evelyn, I feel for the way she is.

When the girls were setting off to school with Ty, Cassie said “have you brushed your teeth?”
Followed by that awful snarly smile and then telling them how they needed to look after their teeth as she hadn’t done, and consequently ended up paying a fortune to have the pearly whites that we are now subjected to.
How she did this when she was supposedly on the streets at 16 and forced into prostitution to put ‘food in her mouth ‘ was glossed over.
Plus funding her drug habit.
Perhaps she found a sympathetic NHS dentist.

At least we now have an explanation for Cassie’s white teeth.
Cost her a fortune to get them looking like that apparently.
(Despite being homeless and a drug addict).
The scriptwriters must have taken on board the comments of so many viewers, and come up with that throwaway remark. If only she had brushed her teeth more often, as per her advice to ‘the girls’, might have saved her cash.
Another stick to beat Evelyn with, no doubt.
What is the explanation? Missed a few episodes.
There was a girl around here who went to prison and when she came out she had the most beautiful new teeth courtesy of the NHS whilst in there. She was a drug addict when she went in with horrible brown stumps for teeth.

I think Evelyn is just as bad as Cassie says she is.
Really?
I see her as someone who did her best, but had very fixed ideas and a sharp tongue. She obviously cares for Cassie, as she rented that flat for them to live in to get her off the streets. She didn't get angry when Cassie usurped her place in the house she was living in with Tyrone and his family, but stayed on in the grotty flat. She clearly has feelings for Roy, but doesn't know how to express them, and she loved Cerberus.
I'm not saying I would want to adopt her, but I have a certain sympathy for her.
Oh give me Evelyn over Cassie any day
Cassie doesn’t appeal to me at all makes me want to shake her
I suspect Cassie was a nightmare for any mother. Dealing with her has probably been what made Evelyn the way she is. How many times did she let Evelyn down? How many false promises? Addicts must be hell to live with.
I think Evelyn is just as bad as Cassie says she is.
That's what I meant, CG. He was well-intentioned, but clumsy.
I agree with all of your post, Devorgilla. It would also show Tyrone that Evelyn is not as bad as Cassie is making her seem.

I didn’t think Stuart made a mess of the initial discussion with Eliza, when she cried and they hugged. That came across quite heartwarming to me.
It was when he went off and bought loads of stuff and obviously discussed it with others.
If only he had talked to Alya first….
It's clear Ed getting cash card a very bad idea. Also, anyone else think Bernie is planning to sell the 'merchandise' in the pub when Gemma is 'in charge' and Jenni away?
I want to see Roy offer Evelyn his spare room to get her out of that awful flat. Has he another third bedroom? I want to see Lauren taken under the wing of both Roy and Evelyn, and living in the spare room. Roy would have his chaperone and Evelyn's no nonsense ways would help Lauren. They'll sort her out and make s decent citizen of her. Just once, I'd like to see a young woman aspiring to University and beyond without falling back on the factory, cafe or pub.
I thought the period story was meant to show how either men or women could help with it, no need to feel embarrassed about discussing it with grandad.
But he made a mess of it and embarrassed Eliza.
David's hair has been transplanted (the actor's) so I guess he wants to revel in his expensive and luxurious locks
.
Online gambling is a big problem, so covering it in a storyline would be a good thing, IMO, but I don't know how they will manage it, given the number of ads on ITV for Bingo and so on. I know the BBC has its faults, but at least it is not in the thrall of advertisers.
I really dislike the Cassie character. I know we are supposed to, but I don't want to watch it when she's onscreen. I think it's something about Claire Sweeney - I could never stand Lindsey Corkhill in Brookside either.
Ed’s acting is so dreadful I missed that pronunciation big GNW he’s like Yazmin and puts the wrong emphasise on words
I’m another one playing catch as I’ve missed a few episodes. I don’t think I’ve missed much just more of the same.
Troubled Lauren is a handful. No doubt someone is going to take her under their wing and transform her into an angel in a couple of episodes. It won’t be Abi as she has her hands full rehabilitating Cassie.
Did anyone notice Ed’s strange pronunciation of pandemic? He added a t and referred to it as the pandemict.
I ve missed quite a few episodes so did a binge watch nearly caught up
We’ve had a few go s at Adams hair on here what the heck is wrong with David’s it’s got a life if its own it’s like a bouffant tea cosy
Does no one ever go to Audrey’s old salon and find what s it living there ?
I thought the period story was meant to show how either men or women could help with it, no need to feel embarrassed about discussing it with grandad.
But yes, seeing as Alya seems to be a role model for Eliza, someone she looks up to, surely she would have spoken to her first.
As usual, with all the various storylines, the scriptwriters seem to jump on any current bandwagon in the news and bring it in.
That’s why we leap about all over the place, often with worthy but miserable plots.
Online gambling looks next in line.
I think that's meant to demonstrate that she needs a woman to look after her.
It's another poorly handled storyline, I think. Nothing about that family rings true. Wouldn't Social Services keep in touch with a child who'd been left with a total stranger after the trauma of losing her mother as she did? I really hope Yasmeen stays in Pakistan. I liked Zeedan, but Alya either needs better storylines or to go, too.
Isn't it October when their contracts are revisited? They used to have a huge clearout then, but these days they tend to disappear for months at a time anyway, so could just be in panto or something. The clue will be if they leave looking wistfully back over the cobbles from a taxi window with all their belongings in a binbag.
Rather a strange scene with Eliza telling Stuart all about her period, and him fetching her a bag of different pads.
At least we now have an explanation for Cassie’s white teeth.
Cost her a fortune to get them looking like that apparently.
(Despite being homeless and a drug addict).
