The BBC nearly as bad but their main fault is wheeling out those 3 women pensioners of a morning on the customer rights programme. Why are they still boring us at the age of 80+?
They are not all 80+ and the BBC was found guilty of age discrimination so are careful to include older, experienced people in their programmes.

Phillip schofield
(937 Posts)Am I being a bit slow but why is Phillip Schofield being thrown under the bus now? He came out about his sexuality , now revelations about an affair with consensual teenager that he covered up to protect identity , Maybe I'm being naïve but not sure why there has been such a big disconnect from TV at this point .
Thisismyname Carol McGiffin was sacked from ITV because she said some strange things about Covid
I don't think he had a sexual relationship with an underage boy - he described the relationship as unwise but legal. The boy was underage when he first met him. It sounds as though Schofield was trying to protect the young man's identity as he didn't want to come out. Schofield is a prat but is only doing what thousands of men - and women - have done for years - lie about their affairs.
It isn’t just lying about an ‘affair’. He wouldn’t be leaving itv and losing his career over an ‘affair’
Where’s the evidence he tried to protect the young man? He got moved when Schofield ended the relationship

carole wasn't sacked.
they put certain clauses in a new contract and wanted her to sign it she refused and walked away!
she has been on gb news explaining this.
ITV done this to dan wootton, eamonn holmes also... there are certain subjects on itv that cannot be discussed.
I watched the 2nd part of the Eamonn Holmes interview last night. I thought the most interesting part was regarding the Queen’s coffin saga. At the time PS and HW pushed in, jumped the queue to stand by the coffin when people had queued often for 12 hours.
They said it was because they were there for work purposes and making a film so they had special permission. As Eamonn asked “if there ever was a film, where is it because nobody has ever seen it.”
The bit where PS threw himself to his knees in EH dressing room announcing he was gay was hilarious! Eamonn did the boo hoo hoos off to a T and said “is that all?”
It was also very revealing that Eamonn and Ruth were only told as they drove into work that P and H would be appearing on the show and were making an announcement. It was all orchestrated and choreographed right down to who sat where. He says they were put in a very embarrassing and uncomfortable position.

This has been said over and over on this thread, Iam. People either don't bother to read what has been said, or just ignore it.
I'll repeat it yet another time. This is not about an affair. In fact, calling it 'an affair' is minimising it. It was exploitation of a very young man at the bottom of the hierarchy by a much older one at the very top of it.
It is not about homophobia. This would be equally bad if the victim had been a girl.
It is not even about celebrity, or at least not about celebrity gossip. It is about safeguarding, about power dynamics, about cover-ups and abuse of power.
Programmes like TM are used to nudge people into behaviour considered desirable (eg with Covid messaging, or anti-obesity items). The presenters had vastly profitable deals with companies such as We Buy Any Car, Garnier and M&S - all of which advertise on ITV and pay huge amounts (over and above the fees to the presenters) to do so.
To some extent they are establishment figures - eg PS's role as ambassador of the Prince's Trust. All of this is based on their wholesome and trustworthy image, which it has been shown was false.
More generally (but crucially), politics is now intertwined with celebrity. Boris Johnson was elected because he was a 'personality' who was considered relatable because he appeared on things like HIGNFY and made 'amusing' comments on more serious programmes.
The two things (the TM scandal and politics) are linked, for that reason. People need to trust the sources of government messaging or barmy ideas such as 5G being responsible for Covid, or vaccine denial take hold, or people see politicians as 'all the same' and don't vote. Breaking that trust is a threat to democracy.
As well as all that is the fate of a young man who was led to believe would have a career in TV, who was taken by taxi to PS's ITV flat every Thursday night (PS didn't work on Fridays), and who declared his love for the man he thought loved him at an awards show where he was under the influence of some sort of mind-altering substance. Possibly alcohol. Immediately afterwards there was an orchestrated 'coming out' by PS, who coincidentally chose that time to decide that his sexuality was other people's business, and who went for the sympathy vote for his supposed 'bravery'. Meanwhile, the young man was summarily booted from TM (and maybe from the other shows where he was PS's assistant - the Cube, Dancing on Ice and others) and possibly persuaded to sign an Non Disclosure Agreement. The cover-up went on, to protect the perpetrator(s) and
All of the above has been said on TV by people like Eamonn Holmes, who may well have an axe to grind, but who will have had libel lawyers scrutinising all of it. There is worse online if anyone wants to look for it before that, too, becomes front page news.
He was not thrown under a bus. This is not about an 'affair'. It is not about homophobia. It is not about celebrity gossip. It goes much deeper than that, which is why the palace, ITV, parliament and other agencies have got involved.
People can disagree with me by all means, but please say why you disagree, and not just repeat the dismissive comments that minimise the importance of what has happened and not comment on why you think it doesn't matter?
What is interesting is that parts of that interview with Eamonn have obviously been edited. GBNEWS lawyers have obviously scrutinised the footage and removed bits they are concerned about. When DW asked him about what he saw and heard of the incident at the tv awards, his reply had obviously been cut and he just talked about Phillip’s coming out a few days later, which, apparently, was because of what happened at the tv awards. From what I gather the young boyfriend had had too much to drink and declared his love for Phillip in front of everyone - PS was there with his wife!
Shortly afterMM was ‘promoted’ to Loose Women and PS had his coming out. There must be a reason nobody is openly talking about what occurred that night as even Dan Wootton has said he was a witness to it but still doesn’t go into detail. It’s all very strange and if ITV have paid him off and covered up for PS the question is why? He’s not a massive A list movie star making squillions of bucks for a big studio and its backers. He’s a daytime tv presenter on a programme that doesn’t bring in that many viewers. I truly believe there’s a bigger story behind all this and it goes beyond Phillip Schofield.
Carole Malone has just said it on Jeremy Vine. He declared his love for PS 'under the influence' in front of all the 'top brass' at ITV (in 2020). Everyone knew then, if not before.
So ITV top brass continually denying they knew anything is blown out of the water. I still don’t understand why go to so much trouble to protect Phillip Schofield.

An aside maybe, but maybe not, personally I dont find it helps politics, that type of thing.
Getting sometimes. shaky and shady media "personalities" to push something on behalf of the government, doesnt do them or the programmes or "politics" any favours. In my opinion.
The more they join up, the less I trust any of them.
Half the time we don't even know it's happening. It's things like Phil and Holly hugging through plastic and standing/sitting well apart. I'm struggling for more examples as believe it or not I don't watch it
. Diet items? Fashion divided into 'skinny' and 'plus size'? Questions about whether smokers or drinkers should get free NHS treatment - that sort of thing.
I agree that it probably shouldn't happen - like most people I am ok with it when they support things I agree with, but hate it when I don't
, but it happens all over the media. Even the Archers was originally a vehicle for government messages to farmers during (or maybe just after) the war.

Maybe because they’re also protecting others who are involved themselves. They’ve probably all got their little secrets.
Yes, Doodledog. ITV big wigs are being questioned about the events during a Culture, Media and Sports Select Committee meeting on Thursday.
I don't watch daytime TV but I sort of know who he is and always rather liked the look of him. His orientation is his own affair but he does seem to have behaved badly.
Just as an aside, because it has been a particular obsession of mine for a few years now; this thread has now joined the legion of threads which don’t appear in the Active List as they should
Never watch This Morning, I don’t care less about this hyped up story that’s nothing to do with me and I wish the media would stop the feeding frenzy on it. Totally bored by whole thing.

I don't watch either but if yet another one-time children's entertainer who also started a theatre group for children is guilty of grooming an under-age child - and this is only alleged of course - then it is in the public interest.

Exactly Callistemon
I don’t watch daytime tv but there’s a reason this story is being covered extensively. There needs to be a thorough investigation by an outside agency.
There’s a huge IF there though isn’t there Callistemon and if there’s a question to be answered it’s the police who should be looking into it, without the trial by media that’s going on. I’ve never particularly liked Schofield, don’t know why, but I don’t, and I’ve never watched This Morning because it seems a trite and irrelevant programme to me (but I understand others enjoy it, so fine) I’m just fed up of turning on the news and it’s the first item, as of there wasn’t a war on in Ukraine or other important things going on. We went on a short cruise (4 nights) and when we came back it was still the number one item on the news.
No Doodle I’ve just got back from a short four night cruise so not really up to date except that Schofield is still all over every news programme.
Yes tickingbird an outside agency should look into it and that agency should be the police.

Well, the objection that it is 'just a hyped up story' has been covered in detail several times, so it might be an idea to read it before deciding that it doesn't matter.
I’ve never really watched This Morning since Richard and Judy left. But when my children were little I watched it all the time. Ditto the children’s Saturday morning programmes. I really believed that Schofield only came out when he announced it live on tv and, up until then he had been loyal to his wife. And I realise someone can convince themselves that someone is telling the truth even when the evidence is there because they don’t want to believe it. I feel very let down. Even tainted in some way
. And angry, too.
