Series two of this programme is being advertised on BBC as coming soon. I thought I would need to rewatch series one to remind myself of the story. I am currently doing this and I had forgotten how brilliant it was, Sean Bean and Lesley Manville are outstanding.

Heidi!

The German girl who grassed her friend up is awful. She looks too old for the part of a 16 year old
Wearing a very dodgy wig!!
I had one with a Hei0di costume when I was about six.

Yes, sadly, I do know that poor Sean, unlike Bobby Ewing, will not return. sad

Surely Robina should have asked to see some I/D before allowing Mark Bonnar into her home, even if she was expecting him?

He could be a fifth columnist or similar. (Not sure what that is, some sort of spy I think).

^Come back Sean, pleeese….^

You do know he’s dead?? 😂

How did Kasia know that Robina’s new love interest is one of the good guys and not a spy after she found a gun, radio and other dodgy stuff in his suitcase? I must have blinked and missed that moment.

Me too.

He seems very dodgy to me!!
As soon as he arrived with flowers I thought "what's his motive?" wink

I don't like any of them much except the one poor German girl whose so-called friend trapped her.

Does that French nurse actually do any nursing?

vegansrock Mon 24-Jul-23 10:34:05

Funny how all the main characters are good looking with great teeth.

This new series seems rather disjointed.

I haven’t re-watched the old series, so have forgotten bits of it,

I can’t take to Lois, wasn’t keen on her before. Something about the way she speaks.

Actually don’t really warm to any of the characters, except for you-know-who.

(Come back Sean, pleeese….)

I think they’ve all got a rather unlikely connection.

I am finding it hard to keep track too, far to many storylines in this program.

We didn't watch series 1 so just started on series 2 thinking we can catch up.
Yes, it does jump around a lot and is rather clichéd, a bit like £10 Poms, every possible scenario being thrown into the mix.

Are they separate stories or do all of the characters have some connection?

We’re catching up and binge watching Series 1, having watched the first episode of series 2 already. Must say we’re really enjoying it and don’t mind the jumping around the various plot lines.

loopyloo Sun 23-Jul-23 10:38:28

Have only just discovered this and am bingewatching it.
But how many different plots and characters.
Also was amused when Harry went to a government building in London as to how clean the facade was.
And also how quickly they travel despite the war.

Jane43 Sun 23-Jul-23 08:29:33

I agree Vegansrock, the constant back and forth of story lines is irritating. I have watched all six episodes now and from the ending it seems there will be another series but I’m not sure I will stick with it.

vegansrock Sat 22-Jul-23 22:11:57

Have now watched the first 4 episodes, and am not enjoying it as much as season 1. It’s become just a bit of a soap opera, fitting from scene to scene - one minute they are in England, the next the desert, then France , then Germany. So many improbable scenarios, wobbly CGI sets and airfix model planes. I think the Germans had more than 1 tank in the desert. Still we’ve had a good laugh at some of it.

Enjoying this, but missing the Sean Bean character. Doesn't look as if Helen Hunt is back, either.

merlotgran Sun 16-Jul-23 22:17:32

Jan has grown up by at least two years but the baby is only a few months older. 😂

dogsmother Sun 16-Jul-23 22:10:30

Didn’t see series one but thoroughly enjoyed that!

Grannmarie Sun 16-Jul-23 22:05:52

Well I didn't expect that in episode one!

merlotgran Sun 16-Jul-23 20:58:50

I’m glad I’ve just binge watched the first series as I’d forgotten quite a lot of it.

Looking forward this.

Grannmarie Sun 16-Jul-23 20:34:06

Not long now, 9pm BBC 1. Looking forward to it, glad I had time to rewatch Season one cos I'd forgotten a lot.

Grannmarie Sun 16-Jul-23 09:00:15

Oh, good, I like Mark Bonnar.

Calendargirl Sun 16-Jul-23 07:19:46

Apparently, Mark Bonnar is going to be in series 2, a love interest for Lesley Manville.

Let’s hope he’s a good substitute for Sean.

Calendargirl Tue 11-Jul-23 06:29:23

Grammaretto

He is in series two.

I think you’ll find he’s not.

According to a Radio Times report I’ve read

I’m watching series 1 again. I’m rubbish at remembering what happened especially after four years.

Yes I did that and have just finished series one. I remembered most of the story but had completely forgotten the cliffhanger ending.
