Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

And regarding the repeated holiday cottage scams...

Welcome to Ambridge, Joel!

merlotgran Wed 27-Nov-24 19:14:54

Please let it be over. 😭

eGJ Wed 27-Nov-24 19:09:15

It is getting worse. Hope we are back to “normal “ soon!

By the end of the week, every family in Ambridge will be invaded by scammed tourists thinking they’ve booked accommodation!

NotSpaghetti Tue 26-Nov-24 00:02:19

As if one scam wasn't enough the writers had to double down on it.

Elrel Mon 25-Nov-24 23:47:25

Two episodes of this irrelevant subplot. Why?

I know the BBC are celebrating Scam Week, but that episode of The Archers is the silliest ever😗

I only heard it this evening. Until I heard Kate's voice, I was sitting mystified, assuming that Alexa was somehow playing out the wrong programme!

Justin is ridiculous at the moment.
Who IS he now???

Scribbles Sat 09-Nov-24 11:51:21

Oh! I've been out of touch with news for a couple of days so I hadn't heard about June Spencer until now.
I agree with everything Merlot said about the Peggy chatacter and June Spencer brought her brilliantly to life.
Rest in peace.

merlotgran Sat 09-Nov-24 09:37:45

I watched the tribute to her on the News yesterday and thought how amazing she looked for such a great age.

I expect the scriptwriters will wait a while then have Peggy die peacefully at the Laurels. She was my least favourite character and June Spencer played her brilliantly in the way she could switch from kindly granny and pillar of the community to controlling and often selfish matriarch, using her money to call people to heel.

RIP June Spencer.

I have just read of the death of June Spencer, who played Peggy Wooley, at the age of 105. I wonder how she will be written out.

I do hope Neil has something serious but manageable, like type 2 diabetes. The village and especially his family need him

mae13 Sat 26-Oct-24 23:38:51

It's November next week so keep listening out for Lizzie Pargetter to mention "mulled wine and mince pies" because that's the official signal for Ambridge to begin the countdown to Christmas!

merlotgran Tue 15-Oct-24 14:24:12

I’m wondering if he has type 2 diabetes.

mae13 Tue 15-Oct-24 14:10:35

A potential major health crisis for Neil Carter is being signposted with all the subtlety of a double decker bus falling off a cliff.
My word, but he's spending his week off racing round doing anything and everything for Tony and Pat, "funny turns" notwithstanding. What a worker!

Wyllow3 Sat 12-Oct-24 14:06:52

I suspect the time it would take for an appeal to go through the whole process might nearly outlast his sentence when good behaviour taken into consideration and if the 40% rule applied?

merlotgran Sat 12-Oct-24 14:00:53

The podcast is excellent. So good to hear from two of the actors involved.

Delila Sat 12-Oct-24 13:55:07

Does that take into account a one-third reduction for pleading guilty?

NotSpaghetti Sat 12-Oct-24 13:35:07

Looks like an A2 crime to me (from a look at the grid).
2 years.

Davida1968 Sat 12-Oct-24 13:29:45

Like other GNs I'm wondering whether George may appeal. I expected him to get a custodial sentence, but of less than a year. (This was just my "gut" feeling; I've no legal experience or background.) An appeal process could certainly make matters even more interesting, in terms of TA storyline.

The issue for me was trying to pervert justice.
