Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

Wyllow3 Sun 22-Sept-24 11:52:22

Well, Emma and Will are not to be prosecuted, which on balance I am glad about, because really of the wider effects on several families and conflict in the village. Not the same as Susan harbouring/sheltering a violent criminal, Clive.

We now have Ed trying to think up a plot to ameliorate a prosecution on George, what will he get up to?

Either the characters are muttering and mumbling to themselves or a row erupts and they all begin screaming and going for each others throats.
It's going exactly the same way as the rest of the soaps. Unfortunately.

Is Harvey Nicks still there too Cumbrianmale56?

Yes it's on the ground floor and the BBC uses the upper floors for The Archers, Midlands Today and whatever else they make in Birmingham these days.

I once went on a tour with talks from producer and scriptwriter, a most enjoyable and informative afternoon. We even got to experience some of the sounds effects - walking on different surfaces, and a device with many variations of sounds such as dogs’ barks.
Would a Gransnet trip to Ambridge be possible, I wonder!!

Cumbrianmale56 Sat 21-Sept-24 12:26:13

I was in Birmingham last week and went past The Mailbox studios where The Archers was made. Amazing a rural drama is made in such an urban location next to a flyover.

Farzanah Sat 14-Sept-24 09:41:31

I think you are spot on Wyllow. You’re not one of the script writers are you 🙂?
Thing is, when you are used to the formula you can spot how things will unfold, and it’s not a surprise often.

Wyllow3 Fri 13-Sept-24 23:07:39

I think its possible he was a sort of plot device to

bring things to a head

and remind us all of the family's past - especially the aspect of "sheltering a criminal"?

merlotgran Fri 13-Sept-24 22:38:45

Clive could be in trouble if it comes out that he was also assisting George as well as blackmailing Emma and Will. With his record he could end up back inside.

Wyllow3 Fri 13-Sept-24 22:33:45

It is a great storyline. The ways that events are unfolding and affecting so many characters in different ways.

I think it will rebound on Harrison but Emma and Will were very wrong to keep it to themselves.

mae13 Fri 13-Sept-24 20:56:42

I keep wondering just what was the point of Uncle Cloive's flying visit to Ambridge - he dropped in for a few episodes and then dropped out again. All he really did was ruffle a few feathers and then push off again.
And as for all that yoga and wellbeing tripe he kept droning on about...........

Galaxy Fri 13-Sept-24 19:40:03

I agree, its excellent. I am waiting for further ramifications with regard to Ed and Emma over telling Will rather than Ed.
I loathe Harrison. Fallon should run as far away as possible.

merlotgran Fri 13-Sept-24 19:23:40

I think Will and Emma will report Harrison because they’re in so deep they’ll clutch at any straw.

The twists and turns are making it a brilliant storyline.

eGJ Fri 13-Sept-24 19:19:44

Well that was am episode and a half! And will Harrison’s outburst come to light?

Wyllow3 Mon 09-Sept-24 20:46:51

I must admit I was shocked at his reaction! He does risk losing his job... there were no witnesses.....no idea what George will do...

Farzanah Mon 09-Sept-24 20:39:57

Well, we heard Harrison’s reaction this evening! He will lose his job if he carries on like this.
Alice’s behaviour on the other hand is bordering on saintly.

Wyllow3 Mon 09-Sept-24 10:07:46

Yes, waiting for Harrisons reaction with interest - he had demonised Alice so much - except as a policeman he surely can't talk about it except for Fallon.

Visgir1 Mon 09-Sept-24 09:59:17

Just heard last night's episode, as I'm on holiday too.. Thank goodness for BBC sounds.
It was a goody... Not sure Chris and Alice will make it but the relationship will be fine as joint parents.
Agree Chris and Emma section was a bit restrained, surprised Chris didn't go more at his sister.

Emma and Will need to be charged for withholding information. There needs to be a bigger impact on their lives caused by George.

Brian will go ballistic, Harrison reaction that's going to be interesting?
Looking forward to this week's episodes.

NotSpaghetti Mon 09-Sept-24 08:56:21

So true Iam - but doubt it would happen in real life...

Though having said that - I do know a couple where it did!

Iam64 Mon 09-Sept-24 08:24:35

I suspect a few of us believe Alice and Chris could make a go of their relationship second time around. They’re older, wiser, he’s been a great support to Alice in co-parenting Martha with genuine desire to support Alice as a mum because that’s best for their little girl

mae13 Mon 09-Sept-24 04:35:35

merlotgran

Another cracking good episode tonight.

Next up….Brian! 😂

Ooh, when Brian gets wind of what's going on he'll be reaching for his shotgun......

Wyllow3 Sun 08-Sept-24 22:52:05

I wondered that too, I'd really like it.

NotSpaghetti Sun 08-Sept-24 22:44:02

At last. I agree, Susan and Alice were very good as was Chris initially - especially with Alice.

The Chris/Emma bit was not so tight.

I'm still wondering about Chris and Alice getting together again... (unlikely in real life, I know) .

Wyllow3 Sun 08-Sept-24 22:22:51

I thought Susan was very good with Alice.

Wyllow3 Sun 08-Sept-24 22:01:27

Great episode.
