The Archers

I do dislike the Soosan character but her sheer believability is down to Charlotte Martin's acting skill. On occasion, she turns in a really excellent performance - as she did with Thursday's lambasting of Alice. I found it moving, believable and a fine portrayal of a woman at the end of her tether.

I have listened on and off to the Archers for most of my life. It used to be on just as I was going to bed as a small child, so has connotations of home etc. Heard it on world service when I lived abroad. It can be rather like an adult version of Listen with mother - are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin! when I have had a hard day or am in a lot of pain, it is something I can just listen to and try to relax a bit. They are dragging things out a bit with George, but at the same time, it is also showing how the fact that it is not being dealt with is causing him more long term worry and pain - which he deserves. Horrible selfish self centred arrogant boy. Has the cockiness and deviousness of the Grundy s but not the better side that other grundys can show at times.

If Alice was desperate to get out of a moving car because she was going to be sick, how come she didn’t throw up in the car which would have been on the passenger’s side?

The case of the cider bottle in the car which might have George's prints on it...but doubt its been kept.

Yes. A fitting "end" for Roy... but maybe he will pop back in due course with a new voice...

On listening to today's omnibus, I am pleased that they have at last written Roy out. The actor died back in December.

I think it's trying to leave open the idea that he might confess. He's not sure he will be around to look after the pony.

Personally I think he won't do that.

After George’s words in his last goodbye to Bartleby perhaps we either need Bartleby on the witness stand or expect to see George unwind and confess!

Oh no, not Harry back!

I’m presuming they are trying to raise awareness of things like the certificate and the religious service available to those who have suffered miscarriage, but think they could have chosen a different scenario, as I found Harrison’s reaction and talk of praying for ‘unborn babies’ a wee bit OTT, when they didn’t even know Fallon was pregnant!
Also, I wondered at the time if the doctor would really have broken the news to both of them, rather than to Fallon alone.

I wonder if they will meet at an AA meeting?

He holds Alice wholly responsible for Fallon’s losing the baby she never wanted, but he was desperate for. He never used to be so uncaring. Harry is back in next week’s cast which can’t be good news!

The aggressive attitude of Mr Plod towards Alice is way too much. He was quite unpleasant with Chris I thought.

He’ll definitely be called as a witness so how will he hold up?

The Alice situation starting to unravel? Is George unraveling too?

His conscience may be getting to him but I don't think he will do anything about it.

Is his conscience getting to George at last? Or will we have to wait for Alice to be sentenced?

Yes, Elrel. That statement did sound like a knell of doom, didn't it? It's like when two characters have an on-air frisky moment and you just know a pregnancy will result.
Ohhh ... Harrison and Fallon's rapprochement .... I do hope the script writers aren't going to inflict two accidental pregnancies on the poor woman.

Anyone else worried about Harrison after him telling Fallon he won’t be dying any time soon? Evil Marky seems to have plenty of equally unpleasant associates.

I remember sitting in my pram in our kitchen in my home island in 1951, when I was a year old, and hearing the very first episode of The Archers. I have been listening to it ever since.

My, what a memory you have.

I have a very good memory for the things that happened during my childhood. I remember the being in the maternity home in a white canvas cot with the nurse looking down on me, the walls were green and cream. I checked this out with my mother years later and she agreed that this is correct.
