Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

NotSpaghetti Fri 17-May-24 09:58:01

She told you why.
She had taken the vodka out of the shop to a place just off a quiet lane, out of the way a bit. She'd parked up, hidden her keys so she couldn't drive, drunk the vodka and passed out.

Galaxy Fri 17-May-24 09:35:41

But would leaving her have been a good idea? I think it's quite a convoluted plot, why was Alice drinking in her car, has she done this before. I am having a vague memory of when she tried to get off with Harrison (shudder) was she drunk in her car then or am I imagining that.

Galaxy

He told whoever he rang that he only had one cider, so if that's true, it would have been driving without insurance.

Maybe he did only have one cider - after drinking everyone else's booze at the party!

NotSpaghetti Fri 17-May-24 09:25:41

He rang his dad, left a message, and later deleted it from his dad's phone (in a ludicrous scene).

He sounded as though he'd been drinking and the cider bottle was referred to in passing as in the car. He was determined to drive her car. I think if she'd not been in it he would have walked on by.

Galaxy Fri 17-May-24 09:10:44

But it would have been better for him to say, Alice was pissed in a car, I thought it best to take her home, I am not sure people would have judged him for that. His other alternative once he found her was to leave her alone or ring Brian, etc. I am not sure that would have ended well. I am not justifying his cover up, just not sure it makes that much sense plot wise.

Although she did try to get out she did tell him to stop as she felt sick.

He was determined to drive and took the keys out of the glove box.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-May-24 23:55:25

Alice didn't want him to drive - he had had a drink and no insurance. Yes it's true the incident followed Alice wanting to get out.

She had sat in the passengers seat to drink and put the keys in the car well when he got in, and following the crash he dragged her into the drivers seat so she got the blame.

This last bit possibly the worst?

NotSpaghetti Thu 16-May-24 23:49:05

I thought he'd been drinking the cheap cider??
The stuff he bought on the shop...

Galaxy Thu 16-May-24 23:45:32

George didnt really stand a chance though did he.
His family is er a bit dysfunctional to say the least.
I dont really know why he lied, from my understanding he crashed because Alice was trying to jump out of the car. That's a fairly understandable reason for crashing.

Wyllow3 Thu 16-May-24 23:35:05

I just feel so furious with George. Good stables question.

merlotgran Thu 16-May-24 23:21:48

Has Alice been charged with drink driving? If not, why not and if she has, how can she swan off to London?

Elrel Thu 16-May-24 23:05:14

Ruari to the rescue for Alice. Is he in student accommodation or did he graduate and get a job while I wasn’t looking? I am wondering how she will cope with London life after the comparative calm of Ambridge. And who will take her place at the stables?
Is George's dreadful secret going to be a sleeper for the foreseeable future? I still await the name of the motorist who caused the death of Shula’s husband, the fate of the bunting, and what happened to Stefan.

merlotgran - weren't they already out in the wrong place when the new doctor was dragged round LL by Joy??

Oh yes! I’d forgotten about that.

Elizabeth will not be amused.

So, Rex abandons his pigs, completely forgetting that farmers need reliable back up if they’re going to take compassionate leave and Pip, jewel in the Crown at Brookfield, would rather faff about painting a boat than helping Rex out with his pigs.

I hope they get my out and dig up the lawns at Lower Loxley!!

I'm so pleased to learn that I am not the only one who dislikes Harrison!

NotSpaghetti Sun 12-May-24 14:37:08

And she'd told him she didn't want her family (or his parents) to know!

I am now waiting for Fallon to learn he's already been chatting about it with Alan.

Galaxy Sun 12-May-24 13:48:02

Also as soon as she was pregnant, he made no attempt to talk about the elephant in the room, and then went and blurted it out to Alan.

NotSpaghetti Sun 12-May-24 13:43:00

He knows that she never wanted a baby and did not have the right to shout about a miscarriage.

He should control himself.
Nasty and selfish outbursts.

Galaxy Sun 12-May-24 13:16:38

I dislike Harrison quite intensely. I thought his behaviour towards Fallon was awful as well.

Farzanah Sun 12-May-24 13:05:28

I’ve only just heard this episode. I hope Harrison’s outburst does not push Alice over the edge, which is possible in the state she is in. However I think his behaviour can be understood in the context of his belief that Alice is responsible for his wife almost dying, and losing a child which he very much wanted. I think he exhibited the behaviour that any bereaved father may, and miscarriage IS a bereavement.

This does not mean that I am not concerned for Alice’s precarious mental health and urgent need for help.

The real baddie is George, not Harrison.

NotSpaghetti Sun 12-May-24 09:29:34

Exactly Merlot.
He is really unstable.

merlotgran Sun 12-May-24 08:53:11

What Harrison wants, Harrison likes to get but ‘getting religion’ doesn’t seem to have improved any levels of compassion he may have had.

He’s already treading on thin ice with his career and a public display of anger towards a vulnerable woman won’t help.
