Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

NotSpaghetti Sun 12-May-24 00:10:18

Yes, I do.
I find him ridiculous I'm afraid.

Farzanah Sat 11-May-24 20:56:56

Do you mean Harrison NotSpaghetti? I rather like him. Denise, Alistair’s love interest annoys me.

NotSpaghetti Sat 11-May-24 16:19:36

And yet more saga with Mr Plodding - he is becoming really unpleasant in my opinion.

eGJ Sat 11-May-24 12:05:08

You’re in for a tempestuous listen with the omnibus Daddima!

Daddima Fri 10-May-24 16:20:31

Omnibus for me too, charley68, but I did notice it was ‘trending’ on the Twitters, so I’ve avoided reading the posts there.

NotSpaghetti Wed 08-May-24 01:08:50

Yes, the suitcase saga
🙄

That silly episode a few weeks ago with Harrison, Fallon and the Robin Hood costumes was always going to have consequences....

Alice is an over-priveleged, entitled idiot and I don't really care if she drinks herself to death but I wouldn't want to see her lumbered with a dangerous driving conviction she doesn't deserve while George basks in heroic glory.

NotSpaghetti Tue 07-May-24 22:29:40

Well it all seems very predictable again now in my opinion.

Anyone remember the Radio 2 soap Waggoner's Walk that used to be on twice a day? I can remember it being cancelled in 1980 and there being plenty of complaints.

merlotgran Mon 06-May-24 21:18:30

I think he left a message on Will’s phone to say he was going to drive Alice home.

RosiesMaw Mon 06-May-24 21:14:19

But didn’t he leave a phone message to (?) to say he was driving her home?

Mouseybrown60 Mon 06-May-24 20:17:09

Certainly looks that way!

Farzanah Mon 06-May-24 19:49:25

Is George letting Alice take the blame for driving???

merlotgran Mon 06-May-24 19:22:40

Is Will going to cover for George the same way he covered for Nic when she ran over Matt Crawford?

Farmor15 Mon 06-May-24 19:16:28

Very dramatic at the moment! Must be a special for bank holiday.
My father was a fan so been listening on and off since the 50's

charley68 Mon 06-May-24 19:16:10

I have listened to The Archers for years, my Mum used to listen ever since it started! I have been regularly listening since the early 80s; sometimes I give it a miss when I feel each storyline is becoming more unbelievable.
Helen/Rob storyline was excellent, and educated many people on coercive control. Both excellent actors, along with the actors playing Rob's parents.
I miss still Nigel, and I stopped listening for several months because of that storyline. Lizzie and Vince bring a smile to my face, and I enjoy Lillian's story, along with Brian and Miranda's effect on Justin.

George is trouble, and it worries me very much, he is 18 going on 19 and a young man. He does have positive male characters in his life, so I just don't understand him.
Alice's storyline is beyond me, and it will end horribly. I tend to catch up on Sunday mornings rather than listen every evening.

Cumbrianmale56 Mon 06-May-24 19:12:15

The world's longest running soap and the first one to have an omnibus. I will admit, apart from the theme tune, I wouldn't know anything about The Archers. However, it does have a very loyal following.

Mouseybrown60 Mon 06-May-24 18:51:41

He’s quite complicated. He has a nice considerate side e.g. wanting to have enough money so his parents can stop working. However he can be quite nasty sometimes with quite a temper; typical teenager really. Hopefully he will emerge into adulthood as a pleasant young man. We will see!

Farzanah Mon 06-May-24 18:13:33

I’m not keen on George.

Mouseybrown60 Mon 06-May-24 17:19:20

I’ve been listening for about 50 years. Last night’s episode was completely unexpected. I hope both characters will be OK as I like them both!

Farzanah Mon 06-May-24 15:49:41

Is anyone still listening out there? Alice has started drinking again and last night’s episode ended very dramatically. 😱

utterbliss Mon 29-Jan-24 12:32:10

I have been listening to the Archers since childhood.

I just wondered if anyone else finds Justin's raspy harsh voice difficult to listen to.

It makes me want to cough to clear my throat.

eGJ Sun 14-Jan-24 19:16:50

Perhaps the “sad farewell” on Thursday is the demise of Hilda?

merlotgran Wed 10-Jan-24 20:32:28

I thought Henry was talking to Sykesy. 😂

eGJ Wed 10-Jan-24 19:36:48

Helen shares so much with Henry; hasn’t she told him how he was conceived?
