Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

Delila Wed 10-Jan-24 19:26:59

Poor Henry indeed.

merlotgran Mon 08-Jan-24 11:06:33

Why would Rob leave Henry anything? Jack is his biological son. He only ever used Henry to increase his control over Helen.

Helen always acts without thinking or taking advice. Poor Henry will now be saddled with yet more of her anxiety.

Now of course Helen is stressing over the Titchener purchase. Why does it need discussing immediately with the boys?

eGJ Mon 01-Jan-24 11:24:33

After last night’s hints could it be Peggy’s demise on January 17?

silverlining48 Mon 01-Jan-24 10:11:00

I always thought Roy and Kirsty might make a good couple.

eGJ Sun 24-Dec-23 13:19:21

There is a “sad goodbye “ on January 17. Perhaps the writers knew that Ian Pepperell was seriously ill. Roy will leave a hole and he had quite a few relationships on the way - Kate, Lexi and a fling with Elizabeth. And he had a good housemate in Kirsty.

Delila Sun 24-Dec-23 10:42:51

Yes, very sad.

silverlining48 Sun 24-Dec-23 10:07:38

Sad news that the actor who played Roy died yesterday after a long illness. He was only in his 50 s.

Have I missed some thing or do we not yet know who bought the land? And are the Grundys homeless?

Daddima Thu 14-Dec-23 07:44:35

But tonight we are promised it is “the end of the line
The Archers
Radio 4, 7pm

The horrific relationship between Helen Archer and Rob Titchener has proved to be one of the greatest, and most disturbing, storylines in British soap. It could have all ended back in 2016 when Helen stabbed Rob as a last resort after his long and abusive campaign of intimidation and control over her, and she stood trial for attempted murder before eventually being acquitted. But Rob came back into the frame earlier this year, complete with an apparent brain tumour, exploding Helen’s relatively settled world once more. Tonight, however, we are assured that their story will reach “the end of the line”.

I thought they might have done a ‘ did she/didn’t she’ storyline when he was asking her to put the pillow over his face. They could have cut at ‘ Good girl’, then just announce that he had snuffed it. They could have kept us guessing till she eventually told the tale to someone!
I think Rob might cause trouble from beyond the grave by leaving something ( or everything) to Henry and/or Gideon Jack.

Also, can somebody tell me why the Grundys are always portrayed as being as poor as church mice? There was Eddie saying he had to keep working at 75 ( if I heard that correctly), and Clarrie going full ‘scrimping and saving’.

No more Ambridge residents in jail though please!

That thought crossed my mind too smile

Me too!
In fact I thought the residents of Ambridge might be forming an orderly queue 🤣

eGJ Thu 23-Nov-23 07:24:27

Jim has mellowed, and it was realistic when he shared with Helen. Fallout likely to continue and what IS going to happen to the land up for sale? Too many options!

Delila Wed 22-Nov-23 19:43:33

I love Jim (&Susan).

I thought Pat might rush in and do it! shock

silverlining48 Fri 17-Nov-23 19:25:00

It’s probably helped Helen deal with some of her issues.

eGJ Fri 17-Nov-23 19:16:31

Well, not quite the end of the line, but well done Helen!

silverlining48 Fri 17-Nov-23 17:56:36

Ooops, yes Helen of course

silverlining48 Fri 17-Nov-23 17:56:10

Bit hit and miss….

RosiesMaw Fri 17-Nov-23 17:44:37

Alice?

Helen, surely.

silverlining48 Fri 17-Nov-23 17:40:33

Heard last night’s episode this afternoon…. I don’t understand why Alice is allowing herself to be involved in anything to do with Rob. Now she’s at the house alone with the card to give him personally, I know that post is a big hit and miss these days but a first class stamp would have solved the problem.
As for pillows….will have to wait see tonight.
As to therapy, yes that might help.

Really grim……😟

merlotgran Thu 16-Nov-23 20:22:02

If Helen is so stupid as to do what Rob has asked her I don’t think I’ll be listening again- at least for a long time.
