Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

shysal Sat 06-Dec-25 11:53:21

I think she is going off George because she has fallen for Brad, who has also fallen for Amber.

Luckygirl3 Thu 13-Nov-25 08:55:23

I don't think she has gone off George - I think she is pregnant.

Ellie Anne Thu 13-Nov-25 08:50:29

And pip sounds different too

Ellie Anne Thu 13-Nov-25 08:13:45

Delila I thought that too. I think she is going off George!

Delila Tue 11-Nov-25 19:20:58

Has the actress playing Amber changed? Her voice sounds very different.

Kate54 Wed 16-Jul-25 08:06:49

Thought he must be! Thanks

windmill1 Wed 16-Jul-25 04:41:47

Amber is a mere plot device: why else introduce such a cartoon character?

NotSpaghetti Wed 16-Jul-25 03:13:15

Think he introduced himself as the chaplain.

Kate54 Tue 15-Jul-25 19:33:51

Who on earth was that talking to George in prison tonight? He was ( sensibly) attempting to talk him out of rushing into marriage. A chaplain perhaps? Sounded more like a cell mate ( apologies for stereotyping prisoners!)

eGJ Fri 11-Jul-25 13:41:29

You are always right on the button merlot. Wonder when Amber’s parents will show!

merlotgran Thu 10-Jul-25 19:56:42

I think the scriptwriters have been watching Clarkson’s Farm.

eGJ Sat 05-Jul-25 15:06:03

Have you listened to The Archers podcast this week? Entertaining and pours a little water on Amber. You will be proved right, (as always) merlot - tears are going to be shed. A reformed Martin Gibson is a bit tacky. No Jazzer it’s not Lillian, though I don’t think he has a real chance with his chosen target!

merlotgran Fri 04-Jul-25 19:47:38

It’ll all end in tears. 😂

Delila Fri 04-Jul-25 19:29:39

Goodness….. how George has changed during his incarceration! He’s completely transformed. Instead of the inarticulate lump he was before, he’s now a mature, confident young man on the brink of marriage. It’s ridiculous miraculous!

eGJ Sat 28-Jun-25 15:18:07

They met at Borchester Green and Amber is back next week as is George, but not Ed, William or Emma. Those scriptwriters are playing with us !

NotSpaghetti Fri 27-Jun-25 14:53:12

Lots of women write to prisoners.

I have worked both with women who have been doing this and with ex offenders who were called and written to whilst in prison.

Elrel Thu 26-Jun-25 21:54:35

It crosses my mind that Amber is not really needed but a cat among the pigeons may be interesting. A match made online?

Scribbles Sun 22-Jun-25 18:46:35

I'm wondering how long it will be before some chunk of Ambridge farmland is sold off for a €!**&@ solar farm.
With rewilding and beavers, that had to be next on the eco-agenda.

Delila Sun 22-Jun-25 18:03:21

Yes, I take your point, it was rather clumsy and patronising, but the racist remarks were thoroughly addressed for what they were by the character Linda Snell, and the man concerned was eventually publicly outed as the racist he was. All rather predictable.

Betony Sun 22-Jun-25 16:13:01

I gave up listening to the Archers when it became preachy, and to the extent that it appeared to be teaching listeners how to behave.

The episode that really got me angry was some time ago, when an elderly man asked Lynda Snell about her Muslim house guests. When he enquired 'what kind are they?' his further elaboration of this question was just so awful and insulting that I found it hard to believe that it had been passed for broadcasting.

Added to this, the writers seemed to think that it was perfectly OK to depict an elderly, presumably middle class man as inevitably racist and crass. Thanks but no thanks, Archers writers. Perhaps take on board the average listener already knows the difference between right and wrong?

Just heard tonight's epi. A pretty silly storyline really but... well, aaaaaaaaahh. That's lovely💕.
(Soppy old romantic? Me? Never!)

eGJ Fri 13-Jun-25 19:18:56

Phoebe and Brodie; a new enthusiasm for re-wilding from Justin; Dane and Helen I just can’t keep up!

Delila Fri 13-Jun-25 18:00:02

Some episodes and some storylines fade almost instantly from my memory. Whole chunks go in one ear then straight out of the other for me. Some characters too. It never seems to make much difference though.

eGJ Fri 13-Jun-25 15:48:53

Of course you’re quite right merlot and we DID hear her speak earlier in the week. I was too caught up with the memories of the dreadful Crispin that I forgot.

merlotgran Fri 13-Jun-25 15:38:54

Not sure why she did not deliver her memories of Peggy. That was not explained to us!

That’s because we’ve already heard them. She asked David to read her eulogy at the service after he read it back to her a few episodes ago.
