Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

DaisyAnneReturns Tue 22-Aug-23 19:20:53

A good story-line if it brings out how boys and young men are being influenced. Poor Emma as well as everyone else.

eGJ Tue 22-Aug-23 19:16:56

Gransnetters told it first.

eGJ Tue 22-Aug-23 19:16:18

Great to hear Emma realising the depths George has reached. Gransnet tears told it first.

I hope the tea-toom totally relocates to the charging station!
Go Falon!!

Make loads of money from it (away from Tom and co).

I thought that might happen too. Sound like a few changes on the horizon. At least it looks as if Rob is going to be the only one killed offhmm

merlotgran Tue 22-Aug-23 17:29:14

I think Fallon will end up being the new events manager for Grey Gables.

Radio Times for next week has three page spread on Pip and Stella, Jazzer and Tracy and Brad and Mia……..but no Rob in the cast.

DaisyAnneReturns Mon 21-Aug-23 15:54:15

I hadn't thought of that. Harrison going part-time might be well timed.

merlotgran Mon 21-Aug-23 15:48:33

Yes, very likely. It won’t put him in a good light either so hopefully he’ll shoot himself in the foot.

It’ll put the tearoom on the map for all the wrong reasons. 😮😮

DaisyAnneReturns Mon 21-Aug-23 14:53:27

Don't you think he may have posted it as soon as Emma sent him out? He doesn't seem to have an off button.

Hopefully Emma will make him delete the recording.

Yes!

And Helen, please go for help.

Farzanah Mon 21-Aug-23 11:58:03

Look forward to last nights episode, haven’t heard it yet.

Its a story its not real. If this was truly happening to someone they would have my full sympathy but its a load of people sitting in a room making up stuff for a character who dosent exist, but if you want to think its real then be as it may.

It may not be real but the TA storyline which ran for years about Rob’s coercive control over Helen raised massive public awareness of violence against women, even amongst politicians, and probably hastened the change of law with regard to domestic violence.

Just this morning I heard a woman on R4 say that she only began to understand that her long suffered MH condition was actually bi polar when she followed a storyline on a TV soap. This spurred her to seek a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Many of these “made up” stories actually perform a very useful function in society. DAR is so right.

Iam64 Sun 20-Aug-23 21:43:43

It won’t help Rob other than in distressing helen

Delila Sun 20-Aug-23 19:58:12

George will offer that video to Rob….for a price (maybe).

merlotgran Sun 20-Aug-23 19:23:38

eGJ Sun 20-Aug-23 19:17:54

When did George and become such a nasty piece of work? I seem to remember him growing up well to start with.

Iam64 Sun 20-Aug-23 19:14:59

OMG - listening now, fantastic scene. George recording and will no doubt post on social media

Helen showing CPTSD
George - classic psychopathy or personality disorder or just plain nastiness

"Just a drama"!

We have been looking at drama since the days of ancient Greece, the old Norse tales and more, in order to learn about life outside our experience. Drama is life!!!smile

Iam You are so right about some therapy. I wonder if they will back-track and refer to what they had previously, why she turned it down or how difficult it was to get referred. Well worth putting out there.

We all have a box of tools from our child and adult interactions. Sometimes they are not enough or are inappropriate. If you were blind you would use a white stick as a tool and someone would teach you how to use it. I do wish we accepted that tools, and how to use them, are just as appropropriate for mental challenges too.

Budge over on that soap box DaisyAnnReturns. Helen’s behaviour all indicates she’s suffering complex post traumatic stress disorder. So far as we know, neither she, Henry or her Bridge Farm family have had any therapeutic support.

Peartree Sun 20-Aug-23 07:37:23

Its just a drama for goodness sake. Noone is victim blaming anyone In real life. Helen to me, and this is only me speaking, is all about herself. In the past she has only thought about herself and didnt care about what she put her parents through. This is just a made up story get off your soap box DaisyAnneReturns!

Rob is so conniving and Helen is a bit dopey regarding him she should play him at his own game, like saying yes we should sort out you seeing your son. Put him on the back foot and get him to beg instead of being frightened or letting hin know she is frightened of him. I wonder how long they are going to drag this story out.

I wonder how each of us would appear to the outside world in the same circumstances? I imagined appearing "dopey" would be the least if our problems. Survival for us and our children would be a much greater one.

Perhaps they should "drag this out" until more people understand what this is and until the victim blaming stops.

Yes, Farzanah quite right. He was born six weeks early by caesarean as Helen had pre- eclampsia.
