Is anyone still listening or have you given up?

Farzanah

The whole ferret business was just silly.
Are they just time filling?
I don’t believe George has turned over a new leaf either!

There has always been an element of silliness.

Well, I read the prediction on Gransnet ! Did one of you write The kiss script?

No but I want to write the one where Helen attends the opening night at Grey Gables and a vegan asks to see the alternative cheeseboard!

I missed the ombudsman episodes Farzanah...
But nothing would surprise me these days with The Archers!

The Archers has been part of my life since the very first epi. But no longer. I've been getting more and more disenchanted since the lockdown monologues and tonight's nonsense has convinced me that there are other, more entertaining, ways to waste 13 minutes a day. You know, sitting in a traffic jam or having root canal work done ....
I'm out.

Farzanah. I see what you mean. We’ve listened to a couple of ombudsman episodes and it all seems very familiar.

What IS George’s agenda? Poor Stella is his target I reckon.

The scripts are getting more and more ludicrous, perhaps lulling us ready for Rob’s return at Henry’s invitation?.

merlotgran Wed 09-Aug-23 19:21:16

Well, that’s 13 mins of my life I’ll never get back. How old are these scriptwriters, 12?

NotSpaghetti Wed 09-Aug-23 08:34:50

Iam I listened in horror at the ferret ferris wheel or whatever it was and expected immediate repremands/involvement of RSPCA, etc but even Linda and the young Grundy girl seem to think it was marvellous??
Who ARE these scriptwriters? Why is nobody complaining?

Then, the icing on the cake last night -
Has the missing ferret been hiding for two days (silently) in the crockery box in the boot of a car?
Can Eddie do a piece-to-camera about the loss?
Is Emma really so naive regarding George's motives?
Can we drag the death of weaver out another day?

Really!

i haven't followed it too closely.
what is henry's actual male parentage, or was it one of these do it yourself kits with turkey baster ?

DaisyAnneReturns Tue 08-Aug-23 22:33:11

The whole point is no one is perfect - even Archers characters. It's the flaws that make them interesting, just as it's the character flaws and how we deal with them that makes each one of us an individual.

I wasn’t thinking of counselling at the stage, more the short sharp shock approach. I’ve been a Very Patient mother of daughters so if I explode, it’s memorable. A gang of patient grannies on the edge of exploding might just get Helen thinking on

merlotgran Tue 08-Aug-23 19:21:44

Counselling Helen?

Hmm! Remember that scene in Airplane where everyone queues up to slap the hysterical passenger? 🤣🤣

eGJ Tue 08-Aug-23 19:18:04

What is George up to? Any suggestions?

Great idea the raiding party. Someone needs to counsel Helen!

Iam64 Tue 08-Aug-23 18:38:00

I heard the ferret thing again, if anything I found it even more odd. Also extremely strange that the script writers had Linda out of character.

I wonder if we could get up a raiding party to protect Henry (and Jack) from Rob, at the same time giving our collective grannie wisdom to helen and the bridge farm lot

merlotgran Tue 08-Aug-23 18:34:11

Do we have to wait until next week? 😩 I was hoping for some imminent Rob action now the Grundy ferret fete nonsense is out of the way.

Ditto Mia and Brad.

eGJ Tue 08-Aug-23 18:19:22

Rob returns in person next week. Hope poor Henry does not get hurt too much.

Iam64 Mon 07-Aug-23 16:58:09

👍 great plot there foxgloves, all we need now is the DM copying our comments on its newspaper

eGJ Mon 07-Aug-23 15:03:37

Great suggestion foxygloves😂

Foxygloves Mon 07-Aug-23 15:02:01

On to my fifth sighthound there’s no way I would let her off anyway but I agree it was an unnecessary element of the story.
By all means point out the dangers of farm equipment though - maybe George could fall in the slurry pit?

Incidentally, I wouldn’t have had any of my dogs off lead. The fields are being mown in our area currently. No walks there

I think Ruth had Weaver on the lead but he got free when he saw the hare. I agree about storylines being just plain wrong. Anyone involved in a corn harvest knows that startled wildlife wil bolt for their lives so what on earth was any dog, let alone a sight hound, doing in the field, on or off the lead.

And yes I agree about the ferrets. They may enjoy the activity but dressing them up?

Iam64 Mon 07-Aug-23 14:14:33

Moan alert
Does anyone else think dressing ferrets up and getting them running round wheels isn’t funny

🐕🐶. I was warned about Weaver on a fb Archers group. I decided to avoid it. I’m becoming irritated by stories where farm folks get things so badly wrong. I’ve never shared my life with a sight hound, or lived/worked on a farm but even I know letting an off lead sight hound loose where a small furry animal or deer could appear, is seriously daft. The clue is in the name. I have a close friend who got to her 4th sight hound rescue before real problems arose. The dog had to be muzzled and only off lead in their garden but even so, the dog killed a neighbour’s cat who innocently wandered in.
