The ‘Barbie’ movie

Late to seeing this, honestly, after all the hype, I thought it was abysmal at nearly 2 hours it dragged and dragged, in a way that the sublime "Oppenheimer" at 3 hours didn't, well for me at any rate. I'm probably in a minority, I see a couple of others thought the same, but it's the worst film I've seen since the vastly overrated "La La Land", again starring Ryan Gosling who I do really like as an actor, also think Margot Robbie is a very good actress, they both threw themselves into their respective Barbie and Ken roles, but definitely not for me, I thought it might have the appeal that "Toy Story" had when it was first launched, although my granddaughter seemed suitably impressed so not a complete waste of money. Allegedly one should wear a lot of pink to get the most out of it, or so I'm told yeah right!

It's really not a children's film - more for teens and adults. Myself, my best friend and my 17-year-old all really enjoyed it. There's a lot there to unpack!

I went on Sunday, it was a perfect wet evening film, light hearted fun. Margot Robbie played it brilliantly I thought, and she is such a pretty woman. I was less keen on Ryan Gosling’s Ken.

I thought it was terrible, yes it made me laugh in parts, but a truly cringy silly film imo... Saying that I've not met anyone else who disliked it

Ive been to see it tonight and really enjoyed it.? A good cast (with a few surprises). If you ever played with Barbie dolls you’ll get it, there was lots of laughter amongst the audience. It’s good light hearted fun, I’m pleased I went to see it.

Went with a friend in her 60's and her daughter in 20's. Was surprised to actually enjoy it, in a silly kind of way, especially the feminist side of things. Thought provoking but in a light way, but I definitely wouldn't get drawn into the associated tat and hype. It's entertainment, not cause for a second mortgage. Go along, have a laugh.

I think it's a marmite movie.

Went with two adult daughters and adult granddaughter and we all loved it.. very clever film. Lots of messages in it and what a mixed audience. Lads together, families, mixed bunch like us etc etc. think it is definitely for older children but we loved every minute of it. Costume design excelled themselves. A reminder of how well dressed Barbie was in the day…

DGD went with a friend recently, it will be good to get a young teenager's perspective on it.

Two friends and I experienced it as a two-hour advert. It was hard to empathise with two dolls, but all credit to the actors for that achievement. The jokes would have carried a short skit, but not a feature film.

Went yesterday as weather was so awful. Fell asleep, hubby had to wake me up as started snoring. Need I say more, not my cup of tea but we’re all different

Went with friends last week. We all dressed in pink! Ages 66-82. Storyline was flimsy but quite a few laughs and very well done. Giggled all the way through

I went to see it with my daughter 42 and granddaughter 21. We all loved it. I’d been to see Oppenheimer few days before, which I’d really been looking forward to but was disappointed. To my surprise I much preferred Barbie!

My GD and her friend, both 24, went to see Barbie last evening.
After the hype they were expecting something special, they were decidedly underwhelmed.

No thanks. I was never a 'play with dolls' kind of child, and Barbie (and Sindy) went right over my head. I think I'd rather have a colonoscopy! Lol!

I was planning to do Oppenheimer/Barbie with my work colleagues but my husband had bought tickets for us both to see Oppenheimer in the gorgeous boutique cinema next week so I’ve only seen Barbie.
I absolutely loved it! Right from the fabulous opening scene, definitely too long for children. Too deep for geeky boys, film buffs apparently, who didn’t recognise the Zarathustra reference .
I didn’t expect to like it but I really did.

A warning on trying to do the Barbenheimer thing - DH and I went to see Oppenheimer and it was also a brilliant movie but three hours long. I had to go to the loo twice during it, which should teach me not to buy a coca-cola to take in with me on a long movie.

My eldest grandson, 15, wanted to see Oppenheimer, and the younger one (12) - Mission Impossible.

My son, their father, had to sit through both films - one after the other... he says he's got a sore bum .

I haven’t but my grand daughter was the biggest Barbie fan ever so was excited to go see the movie with like minded friends! She iscnow 34 and had her nails done in Barbie pink just for the occasion! She absolutely hated the film!!.,. Said it was a load of old rubbish, with so much feminism bias and propaganda it was laughable, “ we don’t need it it this enlightened day and age” was her verdict!!!

Oppenheimer a great film imo SachaMac. I knew some of the background but it reminded me what a crazy place 1950’s America was on the Communist-socialist front

Took my 11 year old granddaughter, we found it funny and really enjoyed it.

I saw it with my 2 daughters & 2 granddaughters 13 & 22. We loved it, very clever.
Not for people who don’t support equality, dumb (or both) they just won’t get it.

Hyped rubbish

I’ll wait till it’s on TV. Never had a Barbie doll! I had Sindy, Tressy (with hair that grew) and an Emma Peel doll! I used to love watching Diana Rigg in the Avengers. 😎

Our 45y.o. Yorkshire Lass is going next week with a friend who wants to see it. She’s happy to accompany her as her interest has been piqued by all the hype this film is getting.
