Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

I find I can't warm to Angela R. either.
Her legs may be fantastic for her age but her facial expressions drive me bonkers - even in ordinary conversation she seems to be playing to the audience somehow.
She strikes me as someone rather self-centered to be honest.

Our GN votes are all going to different Celebs this week and it makes me think the overall vote will be a close one.
If I wanted to see more of Layton I would go to a show he was in because he does not have to aspire to be on the stage in as some of the Celebs might - he is already accomplished in that. I wonder why he wanted to be in Strictly.

I find Leyton very compelling to watch. He's brilliant, but I'm not sure he should win.
Wasn't Angela wonderfully elegant . And those legs!
It's hard to know who to vote for, there are some really good dancers this year.

Sara1954 Sun 15-Oct-23 10:13:33

Louella
Agree, definitely top three

Louella12 Sun 15-Oct-23 10:04:24

I love Leyton. I'd probably not watch if he wasn't in

However as I've said before it's very doubtful that he'd win. Too many people think he has an unfair advantage.

Top 3 I reckon

Sara1954 Sun 15-Oct-23 09:58:26

I know what you all mean about Leyton, I can’t warm to him, and I find some of his facial expressions a bit off putting.
But I like his dancing, and I would like to see more.
I will be really hard to get him out anyway, because even if he finds himself in the dance off, he’ll almost certainly get saved.

Joseann Sun 15-Oct-23 09:47:03

I think you're right, lemsip, that Anton has been told to ham things up,
Anyway, I think Cody will definitely be in the bottom two although he has done well to get this far. I hope Zara isn't, she doesnt deserve that because Eddie was far more wooden and disappointing this week, and the dance didn't suit him at all in his lower half.

Sparklefizz Sun 15-Oct-23 09:45:06

eazybee Once he gets in front of the cameras he cheapens his performance with too much innuendo played for the benefit of (some) of the audience.

I agree. Layton doing the splits and simpering is not my idea of the Cha Cha.

I noticed when they were all upstairs with Claudia after someone else's dance that Layton kept moving at the back of the crowd to make himself more visible in the camera shot.

I just can't warm to him.

lemsip Sun 15-Oct-23 09:35:36

anton's ramblings will be his remit for being a judge to replace bruno, that is all part of the 'Show'along with the squealing and shrieking of the audience, wound up by the 'warm up' man. in my opinion. watch it online and silence the noisy bits.

eazybee Sun 15-Oct-23 08:59:53

Although I appreciate Layton's great talent as a dancer I am finding it increasingly difficult to watch him perform.

Sara1954 Sun 15-Oct-23 08:54:46

Yes Anton was awful, I like him normally, but he was really annoying

Mollygo Sun 15-Oct-23 08:45:10

Seems I’m the odd one out then.
I’d actually rather have Anton’s ramblings than the shouting from Motsi and the weird marking of Shirley.

Sparklefizz Sun 15-Oct-23 08:38:09

Re Anton, either Callistemon's telepathy got through to him grin or the producers told him to tone it down. He was wasting a lot of time with such long rambles when it came to his turn to comment.

Clawdy Sun 15-Oct-23 08:27:14

Bobby looked really sad tonight.
And yes, Anton was so silly and loud, I usually love him but he was SO over the top.

Sara1954 Sun 15-Oct-23 08:05:21

I’m torn with Layton, I feel I shouldn’t vote for him, but if I really enjoy his dance, it seems petty not to.

DanniRae Sun 15-Oct-23 08:00:51

I voted for Adam, Ellie and Angela S

Sparklefizz Sun 15-Oct-23 07:51:19

In the end I voted for Amanda, Bobby and Nigel. I also wanted to vote for Adam and Ellie. I think Jody will go out this week as he is being left behind. Not sure who else I think will be in the dance off .... they're all so good.

I can't vote for Layton. I enjoy watching him dance although he is better when he can dance "free form". He wasn't nearly as good when he danced the Viennese Waltz last week when feet and technique are paramount.

Casdon Sun 15-Oct-23 07:34:24

I liked Annabel’s dance last night, and I’m so jealous of her legs!

NotSpaghetti Sun 15-Oct-23 07:33:44

Layton said he had listened to his partner this week.
It showed.

I couldn't vote for him either though.

Louella12 Sat 14-Oct-23 23:51:08

Ooh, that's a good point, Callistemon21!

Maybe they'll take him on as a professional.

I'm aware of his dance experience. Nigel too has been in a few West End shows. But I do like to see some decent dancers. As well.

I don't think he'll win but I'll put him in my Top 3

Joseann Sat 14-Oct-23 23:09:21

I understand the reluctance to give Layton a vote due to his dance experience. For me tonight, I felt it was his talent and not just his training that put him way above the others. Also, I'm enjoying watching the partnership with Nikita develop, and Shirley was right to point out that Layton had especially focused on making this work.

TillyTrotter Sat 14-Oct-23 22:36:41

I can’t give a vote to Leyton either GG , same reason.

Adam, Zara and Bobby.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 14-Oct-23 22:29:02

My favourites are Bobby, Annabelle and Angela.

Leyton is a spectacular dancer, but he is a professional dancer, I cannot give him my vote.

merlotgran Sat 14-Oct-23 22:28:32

Or run up the stairs like her!!.

Yes, Angela. Stop rubbing it in!

Every time I see that I have what my DGD would call an ‘Oh! FFS’ moment. 🤣

Callistemon21 Sat 14-Oct-23 22:05:12

😃

Let's 🤞 he's on my wavelength!
