Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

Callistemon21 Sun 08-Oct-23 20:16:46

Bless her, she was no dancer

No, she wasn't.
But at least she wasn't a professional dancer which, imo, is cheating to appear as a contestant.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Oct-23 20:16:15

Gorka might be pleased to be able to spend more time with his new baby!

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Oct-23 20:14:55

I think she might have been on a reality show Joseann but she calls herself a presenter. I could be completely wrong of course 🤣

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Oct-23 20:13:43

Right decision, although I'll miss Gorka.

Joseann Sun 08-Oct-23 20:05:26

No surprises here, (those trainers and long socks didn't help).
I think the cat girl performed quite well, but no one knows who she is.

Calendargirl Sun 08-Oct-23 20:03:29

Not surprised Gorka and partner were eliminated. Bless her, she was no dancer.

It all seems a bit forced somehow, this series.

All the chat on the sofa with Claudia and the winning contestants, I don’t even bother listening to any of that.

The whole Sunday show could be reduced to half the time, a pro dance, the results, the dance off.

Cut out the judges chat also.

Callistemon21 Sun 08-Oct-23 20:03:01

Calendargirl

I think you mean Motsi Callistemon.

Probably!! Oti is her sister.
I will report to the forgetful thread blush

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Oct-23 20:00:32

No surprises who’s leaving although I thought Jody might be in the dance off.

Calendargirl Sun 08-Oct-23 19:58:25

I think you mean Motsi Callistemon.

Callistemon21 Sun 08-Oct-23 19:56:18

So good to see Oti looking lovely without the strange, convoluted hairstyles she favoured last season!

Grannynannywanny Sun 08-Oct-23 16:23:58

I agree , I think Jody and Nikita will be in the dance off. I don’t think Layton was as impressive as last week. Likewise Nigel. I loved Angela S and Annabelle’s dances.

I don’t think Shirley’s 10 was deserved just yet. Karen and Eddie were under marked last week especially by Craig. It’s gone to the other extreme this week.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Oct-23 15:59:43

What did you think of Shirley's 10 for Eddie?
The standard is really high when we're only in week 3, but Layton wasn't nearly as good last night.

I think the dance off will be between Jody and Nikita/Gorka.

kittylester Sun 08-Oct-23 15:57:03

I just love Bobby, as Casdon said, he's an uplifting sort of person - bit like a daft labrador!

I think the standard is really high this year but I really liked Angela Scanlon and Annabelle. I really love Giovanni but, for some reason, don't like Amanda. That could be a real dilemma.

Joseann Sun 08-Oct-23 15:55:14

I'd already said Gorka's partner 30 seconds into her dance on here last night, so I'll stick with that. Up against ???? Not sure.

Casdon Sun 08-Oct-23 15:49:28

I do like Bobby, he’s an uplifting character. I’m rooting for Annabelle too.

Sara1954 Sun 08-Oct-23 15:40:01

I voted for Krishnan, Ellie, and Angela S.
But to be honest, I equally enjoyed Amanda and Bobby, but had to choose.
None of them really gave me goosebumps, and I was disappointed with Nigel and Layten, and I never like the couple’s choice.
Looking forward to the results show, I think that will be Jody and Gorkas partner, sorry her name escapes me.

Hi Everyone, talk about bad timing .... just as the judges were being introduced my power went off, and stayed off for 11 hours. I'd been looking forward to Strictly all day. Power still off when I woke up this morning! Fortunately I have plenty of torches.

Anyway, have caught up this morning with a decadent 2 hours of watching Strictly following breakfast. I thought it was a very good show. However ....

Can't believe Shirley gave a 10 so soon and for that dance when even I could see that there were times when Eddie's arms were out of sync with Karen's. I forgave her, though, because I loved her dress and hair decoration.

Thought the scoring was all a bit mad to be honest and didn't always match the judges' comments.

I loved Angela S's Charleston and would have voted for her, and also Amanda & Gio's Rumba - sensational (but thought they were under-marked)

Bobby reminded me of a young Mick Jagger with his hip movements and his lips. As Anton said, he had "a double-jointed trick pelvis" smile

I felt sorry for Jody because he'd had so little training time. I think he might be in the dance off through no fault of his own.

Absolutely loved Annabel and Johannes' waltz. Fabulous. Very moving and poignant. In my opinion that was worth Shirley's 10, but she only gave it a 7. Grrr!

Krishnan was surprising, wasn't he?

Obviously I haven't been able to vote, but would have chosen Angela S, Annabel and Amanda.

Who do you think will be in the dance off?

aquagran Sun 08-Oct-23 10:00:29

I got fed up watching it, although I am a fan. Sooo long…
Who got a 10?

Joseann Sun 08-Oct-23 06:58:16

Oh no, that's annoying Sparklefizz, I did wonder where you'd gone. Hope you can catch up today. I must admit in the early stages I record it and fast forward all the chatting.

Grannynannywanny Sat 07-Oct-23 22:39:59

That’s miserable Sparklefizz. I hope it comes back on soon and that you’re not feeling cold.

Sparklefizz Sat 07-Oct-23 22:13:07

Thanks Sweetpeasue but it’s not. Have now heard it will be 2.30am before it’s back so am off to bed with the torch.

Sweetpeasue Sat 07-Oct-23 22:10:00

Oh Sparklefizz and Grannynannywanny such a shame.
Hope your power is back on now Sparklefizz

Callistemon21 Sat 07-Oct-23 22:07:15

The TV started breaking up then went off so DH missed the rest of the rugby.

Grannynannywanny Sat 07-Oct-23 22:03:12

Had a power cut since 6.30. Typing with the aid of a torch. Missed the whole programme

That’s dedication Sparklefizz! I’m still working my way through it. My problem is I’m doggy sitting at my son’s for the weekend. By the time I’d figured out their tv and remote set up I ended up having to watch it on iPlayer. Everything was going well for 10 mins when a big daft labrador decided it was playtime. She ran across the room and pounced on me. By the time she’d finished trying to smother me she’d also hit the remote with her paw and I lost everything 🐶
