Only another month to go so I thought we'd better get the new thread up and running smile

I don't know many of this year's contestants so far but I guess we'll get to know them as the show continues. I see there are already comments that some of them have previous dance training.

Agree BlueBelle

I know I m out of sync but I can’t stand the programme I keep trying it hoping I ll warm to it but it’s so artificial all the whooping and shouting and OTT stuff takes any pleasure out of it for me I know about four names out of all of them and it seems to have pushed Casualty off my radar so I ll bow out again I do try though got to give me that
I think if I could miss all the OTT talk and tedious stuff out and just see the dancing I d warm to it more

I ll continue channel surfing

My favourites were Amanda, Angela S and Layton. I thought the general standard wasn't as good as last week, but they did only have a week and often it dips in the second week. Les and Gorka's partner(cant remember her name)were so poor.

merlotgran
I refuse to vote for two men dancing together unless one of them dances backwards in high heels and a dress!

I went to an all girls school and any dance lessons I was always partnered with my best friend who was 2 inches shorter. So during those 5 formative years I never learned to dance like a lady. I blame that for the proverbial 2 left feet style of dancing I’ve done ever since 😄

Kandinsky Sun 01-Oct-23 09:13:13

That was In reply to merlotgran

Kandinsky Sun 01-Oct-23 09:12:24

Oh that will come don’t worry.

Ailidh Sun 01-Oct-23 09:11:14

I won't vote/root for Layton on principle: he's already an experienced dancer, I don't see the point of him being in a competition for mostly beginners.

A lot of the competitors seemed brought up short by week 2. Lots of ones I liked, though, but because I've slept since I can't remember their names.

I hope Les goes tonight, it's cruel watching the judges rip the Mick out of him. He is not good but he appears to me to be trying his best, and at least he stays on the beat, unlike Krishnan, who is also dire.

Angela R.'s costume was much more elegant tonight, and she has lovely extremities.

A great evening of entertainment. The standard is very high for week 2. Amanda and Giovanni were my favourites. Les looked like he was dancing at a family party and acting silly to entertain the children. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s saved tonight.

Craig judged Eddie and Karen very harshly and only gave them a 3. His criticism seemed to be aimed at Karen’s choreography. I loved their dance so that shows you what I know !

Calendargirl Sun 01-Oct-23 07:49:59

Kai looks much older than he is, which is probably why he got Angela R, but it still looks like he is dancing with his granny.

I agree with an earlier comment, the way she hangs onto his arm makes her look very elderly and needing support, which is not the look she’s aiming for, I bet.

wendyann23 Sun 01-Oct-23 07:43:33

Agree with Sparkefizz. Layton was amazing but I won’t vote for him because he has an unfair advantage in that he dances for a living.

Joseann Sat 30-Sept-23 21:53:55

The judges were all constructive with their criticism tonight. Lots of tips on technique were given.

Joseann Sat 30-Sept-23 21:52:49

Ooo some good performers this year, especially considering it's only week 2.
Layton was excellent.
I think for me the partners who work their celebrity partners the hardest are getting the best results, like Giovanni and Amanda, Katya and Nigel, Carlos and Angela S.
Angela R's top half seems a bit stiff compared with the lower half, but she is very committed.

Attlee Sat 30-Sept-23 21:45:53

Layton and Nikita were so fabulous. I know he has dancing and stage experience, but it is what it is, he's just excellent.
Amanda and Giovanni are also a force to be reckoned with

Louella12 Sat 30-Sept-23 21:44:11

Layton is a dream to watch. It's god having a few decent dancers. Nigel also has plenty of West End experience.

I think Bobby will win though

Visgir1 Sat 30-Sept-23 20:49:35

Layton is brilliant
Both Angela's great so is Ellie and Amanda.
Going to be close this year.

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Sept-23 20:39:22

Layton has recently danced the lead in Billy Elliott and We need to talk about Jamie. His dance tonight was brilliant but he has an unfair advantage in my view. Terrific choreography by Nikita though.

I've voted for Amanda, Angela S and Nigel. Also wanted to vote for Ellie but ran out of votes.

Sara1954 Sat 30-Sept-23 20:38:19

Very tricky tonight, but I voted for Ellie, Angela and Carlos, and Layton.
Wow, Layton was amazing, that was more of a final performance, than week two.

Sweetpeasue Sat 30-Sept-23 20:37:12

Amanda, Layton, and Ellie have my votes. Amazing dancing tonight.
Like Kandinsky it does seem a bit unfair that Layton has such a lot of dancing experience.

ginny Sat 30-Sept-23 20:31:56

Wow! Four favourites Angela S, Amanda, Ellie and Layton.

Kandinsky Sat 30-Sept-23 20:30:45

Bit unfair - Layton is in musical theatre so will obviously be a very good dancer.

TillyTrotter Sat 30-Sept-23 20:28:10

So many “Wow” performances tonight but Leyton’s tops them all.

Kim19 Sat 30-Sept-23 20:27:57

I'm a bit long in the tooth when it comes to same sex partnering but that quickstep was something else. Quite stunning and I will vote for them.

Sweetpeasue Sat 30-Sept-23 20:26:09

Wow what a performance. Beautiful choreography, excellent Layton

Sparklefizz Sat 30-Sept-23 20:13:13

Terrific jive from Angela!
