Annoying TV adverts

Do any adverts on TV annoy or irritate you? I dislike a few, but the 2 that I really can't stand are the one for McDonald's, with all those people in a traffic jam raising their eyebrows, an the one with the woman who looks at the mobile 'phone, and keeps saying "Awww"

The bulky pee pads women drives me mad "let it all go " I don't think so yes it's a problem but does it need celebrating no no no

Moonwatcher1904 Mon 17-Jun-24 16:22:33

I agree with you all that there isn't an advert that isn't annoying. That woman with the bulky pee pants letting it go all day. Mine would be round my ankles by that time and fancy sitting on someone's shoulders like that...yuk.
Has anyone seen the ads during the day from JML which seem to go on for ages repeating themselves several times..aghhh.

Curry’s stupid Ads what’s he doing with a bucket on his head, baffles me and the one with eyes in their forehead what are they advertising and what’s the point, and the Haribo cops talking like children I have to look away it’s spooky 🫣

Those incontinence ones (Tena mostly) which show the ladies at a gym session actually boasting about the fact that they leak a lot of "wee." I know it's a problem which many have and that it's nothing to be embarrassed about, but it's not normal either - I always think they should get themselves checked out by a doctor, rather than buying even more absorbent pants.

I put on the mute button and get on with a chore. There's often time to lay a full floor of lino!

Cabbie21 I agree with all the above, but to be honest, I don’t watch them, I pick up a puzzle or go and make a cup of tea.

I never used to see any adverts as I recorded everything and skipped them. But now I watch Freevee and ITVX I can't do that, and there's usually no time to read or make tea as they can sometimes be just one advert. So I do see adverts now.

I'm the same as you Cabbie21, I used to only watch streamed programmes on Sky and now find ITVX really irritating with the same ads repeated all the time. You can pay to get the adverts removed but, like you, I just find something else to do.
I do also watch series on BBC iplayer which don't have ads though.
I like babysitting for my daughter as she has Netflix, Prime and some other pay channels though there seems to be less and less that I actually want to watch now on any of them.

The one for Graze snacks, where the back of the woman's head starts talking, so then she and the back of her head keep saying "Shush"—stupid advert.

June, who continually gets Derek's over 50 plan delivered to her by mistake. How many more times can Royal Mail screw that up. And as for Derek's over 50 plan, I'd like to bury it and him under the patio.

One of the many mattress ads, where a woman is close to having a Tena Lady moment, stating " ever since this new mattress arrived, oh how our lives have changed" Seriously? It's a mattress luv, not a new baby.

And finally.... The latest AA bank robbery ad is part of the reason I'm with Green flag.
Rant over🤣

I can't stand the Omaze woman's way of speaking. I don't like the woman who is "letting it all go" in the advert for incontinence pads.

eddiecat78 Mon 28-Aug-23 19:07:30

The Santander adverts featuring Ant and Dec. It's our bank and I was so irritated by the adverts when they started that I contacted Santander. They replied that market research had shown that Ant and Dec were very popular ( not in this house they're not)

Add to my earlier post: that man with irritating accent banging on about Lu biscuits.
"Taste the leurv..." Me, I'd like to take the unopened packet and shove it sideways into his cake'ole!

Sorry Greenfinch, you misunderstood my post. I think he is gorgeous, whether he has dandruff or not…hang on
“I don’t!” 😂

me too!

It’s Jess Glynn Happygirl79 and they even play the song inside the aircraft - several times.

62Granny Mon 28-Aug-23 16:35:54

Remembered another one the Omaze house competition, the voice over is really irritating.

Happygirl79 Mon 28-Aug-23 16:19:44

That awful woman singing on the holiday ad. Is it Jet 2? Hold my hand! I have to turn the sound off until its done! Irritating as can be

Happygirl79 Mon 28-Aug-23 16:17:38

Greenfinch

Well I certainly didn’t. I think most adverts are an insult to the intelligence.

I totally agree there!

Greenfinch Mon 28-Aug-23 16:15:49

Sorry aquagran didn’t read carefully enough. 😺. I don’t care whether he has or not because the advert annoys me.

Scribbles Mon 28-Aug-23 16:09:22

I try not to see them but especially dislike any ads involving incontinence, erectile dysfunction, denture adhesive, menstruation, funeral plans, online dating services and/or with an American voice-over.

HeavenLeigh Mon 28-Aug-23 15:53:56

The body form sanitary towel showing blood!

DamaskRose Mon 28-Aug-23 15:50:42

The chap who “dribbles” advertising Tena for Men. I think he’s supposed to be a bit dishy in a “this can happen to anyone, even somebody like (gorgeous) me”. He gives me the creeps. Yes, I nearly did say willies! 😳

I’m scrolling through GN with the TV on and my attention has just been drawn to a chap asking viewers to support ‘The British Art Foundation’s’ lottery. How unusual, I thought, until I realised he meant The British Heart ❤️ Foundation!
It’s all in the diction?

welshchrissy Mon 28-Aug-23 08:58:12

The one that really makes me feel like screaming is the haribo ad with 2 policeman in the car talking like children. It annoys me every time I see it

ParlorGames Mon 28-Aug-23 08:18:57

I agree with all of the above. However, the most ridiculous advert award must surely go to the hang-gliding goat advert!

Cabbie21 Mon 28-Aug-23 08:15:37

The fact that we remember these awful ads is significant. It won’t mean we buy the product though. We are more likely to boycott it!
