Annoying TV adverts

Do any adverts on TV annoy or irritate you? I dislike a few, but the 2 that I really can't stand are the one for McDonald's, with all those people in a traffic jam raising their eyebrows, an the one with the woman who looks at the mobile 'phone, and keeps saying "Awww"

I could have written this myself!!
Add on the stupid man shouting ‘Sausage’ for his dog, which apparently is safe at home too.

They are driving me up the wall.!

That woman sitting on the toilet.

Granny23 Sat 26-Aug-23 23:49:33

The one for the hotels in PITLOCHRY when the voice over says that "Pitlockry" is in "Scatland"

One of the worst is the back to school advert with the rapping schoolchildren. It is really horrible.

We’ve got one with a woman doing a fake cough advertising cough lozenges. I think it is Strepsils. I want to throw my shoe at the tv every time I hear it.

Also that Irish woman on the toilet - that’s baaad.

Calendargirl Sun 27-Aug-23 07:46:12

The Scottish donkey standing behind the woman and advertising mouthwash.

The one with the creepy old man being introduced to his partner’s family, eating Maltesers all the while. Yuk! And it’s meant to encourage you to buy them.

The KFC I think it is, where different people are eating, and one awful woman is biting into her beef burger or whatever, her eyes look enormous as she greedily starts eating.

I have to look away for most of them until they are finished.

Jane Plan. Smug middle class people ….‘there’s no doubt about it, I’ve lost weight and it’s stayed off’ yup de do. 😝

Esmay Sun 27-Aug-23 08:45:09

Another vote for Jane Plan and the new irritating ding - seven dings in all .
Someone gave me the soups .
They were vile .

And the endless funeral plans ...

Not sure if it's on TV but I get a Macdonalds ad during word games online which drives me mad. Starts with rear view of a young women streching, then she eats a huge Macdonalds meal in bed, presumably ordered with a delivery app. Yuk! Too lazy to make her own breakfast!

granfromafar Sun 27-Aug-23 08:54:26

*Stretching

The Samsung phone advert (I think).
Where the lady says ahhhhhh
Awful 😩

Athrawes Sun 27-Aug-23 10:57:58

I find them all annoying especially as they seem to drag on in the middle of a good play or whatever. Still it gives me plenty of time to go to the loo or make a cup of tea!

shysal Sun 27-Aug-23 11:11:02

The only current advert I actually like is the Macdonald's eyebrow raising one! I also liked the Coming Home song on a previous one of theirs.
Most of the time I record programmes so that I can skip the adverts because they are usually annoying.

Chestnut and I thought it was only me !! no wonder our little ones are so badly influenced.
Also why every evening when sitting down to eat do I see adverts for erectile disfunction its the last thing I want to see when eating my meal.

Verisure alarms and "the pay before you die" funeral ones, both seem to be on regularly every morning when DH, watches channel 5 .

Cabbie21 Sun 27-Aug-23 11:33:28

I agree with all the above, but to be honest, I don’t watch them, I pick up a puzzle or go and make a cup of tea.

The one on the radio I can’t bear is for equity release. It creates a scenario with a mum who hugely overreacts when she learns her daughter is pregnant and suggests equity release so the parents can help the young couple. So much drama.

Nandalot Sun 27-Aug-23 11:41:42

All the gambling ones that come on during any sport. They are bad enough but DH complaining about them is worse!

Chestnut Sun 27-Aug-23 12:07:49

The freckle-faced man who jumps around showing us inside his house to see his Ikea 'pad'. Argh! Why are so many adverts noisy and aggressive, with excited people jumping or dancing all over the place. I just find them so annoying.

Chestnut Sun 27-Aug-23 12:11:26

Cabbie21 I agree with all the above, but to be honest, I don’t watch them, I pick up a puzzle or go and make a cup of tea.

I never used to see any adverts as I recorded everything and skipped them. But now I watch Freevee and ITVX I can't do that, and there's usually no time to read or make tea as they can sometimes be just one advert. So I do see adverts now.

Redhead56 Sun 27-Aug-23 12:18:45

I use the remote to fast forward them when I have recorded something. I am not interested in insurance plans don’t have constipation or erectile dysfunction don’t gamble and don’t rap. So therefore none of the adverts are of interest to me.

Boz Sun 27-Aug-23 14:08:53

I can't stand the Lenor adverts; silly people getting euphoric with sniffing a clean duvet.
We just use the mute button if obliged to sit through ads but mainly record and "whizz" through these horrors.

Chestnut Sun 27-Aug-23 14:38:18

Apart from the annoyance of seeing those people rolling around in white duvets in a field, what on earth are they sniffing? It appears to be some additional flowery additive that you use on top of your fabric softener for even more of a chemical stink. Anything to sell more unnecessary laundry items!
