My daughter reminded me S2 had started I viewed it and couldn't relate to the beginning of it somehow. My daughter told me to keep watching and I would catch up. I haven't so far to be honest I'm now watching Korean dramas.

Has anyone watched season two ( just finished it). Annoyingly I wrote on series one that I’d found the subtitles and wish I’d said how I found them because I couldn’t find them this time and couldn’t understand a lot of what was being said.

Once I got to episode three I was ok. I’m rewatching the first couple of episodes as, without subtitles I couldn’t follow what was happening. I’m also listening to the HBO podcast which analyses each episode in detail. I’m even tempted to play the game: something I’ve never done in my life! I do tend to get rather obsessed with series that I like and read up on everything once I’ve watched it. I don’t understand how filmmakers have the vision to create things the way they do. I can’t wait for my daughter to watch it but that won’t be for a couple of weeks when I can pass the dvd on to her.
SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT!
The giraffe was a REAL one!!!

We got HBO so I watched the episodes as they aired them. Good show!
I wouldn't say it's scary, but I did squint a bit at some parts. Still, there aren't that many scary faces jumping in front of the screen just to shock you. Tensions are high, but the show is dialogue-heavy, the horror is more tied to the setting and is not the "point" of the story

Well, I’ve finished it. Resisted the urge to binge watch it and loved it. However, because it’s based on a computer game and it’s common knowledge what is going to happen I don’t particularly want to watch series two. Usually, with series that I love, it worries me that I might not be around to see the rest of the series but I’m happy with seeing just this one. I thought it was a masterclass in acting. I’m glad I stuck with it ( thanks Oreo!). It did make me scared to go out in the dark at first but as the series went on the fear subsided. I even went to see inside a local ice house that was open to the public for a few days and, when I was inside the lighting went off and I was ok. I can now read up on all the reviews about it and listen to the interviews.

I’ve found subtitles!

I had to stop watching episode two ( the bit in the museum) and it’s a good job I did as the dog needed to go out for a wee in the early hours and it was very spooky outside: it’s very misty here at the moment! I finished watching it in the morning! I couldn’t go outside at night for years after watching the Charlton Heston film of The Omega Man. Watching episode three tonight and really need to be able to hear clearly what they’re saying: in the absence of subtitles I might try having it on very loud….I gave up watching The Wire because it didn’t have subtitles.

I’m just starting episode two having rewatched episode one. I really need subtitles! I can’t believe my dvd doesn’t have subtitles: they usually do.

It is on Sky Atlantic or Now tv. We thought it was very good and episode three was a story in itself, very good.

When I hear the HBO bit at the beginning it makes me remember the thrill of having a whole series of Game of Thrones to watch which I had to binge watch because I loved it so much and then I remember the disappointment of finding myself, at the end, not even wanting to rewatch the final series sad

Greenfinch Tue 05-Sept-23 12:21:05

I found it on Sky Atlantic catch up so have downloaded the first episode to watch tonight.

I don’t know: I’ve just bought the dvd. It’s HBO, like Game of Thrones.

Witzend Tue 05-Sept-23 08:57:20

Which channel please?

MayBee70 Tue 05-Sept-23 08:52:24

Unfortunately my dvd doesn’t seem to have a subtitles option and I struggle to understand what people are saying if they have American accents: I might need to find a synopsis of each episode after I’ve watched it.

Pedro Pascal is really good in The Last of Us. And the actress Isabella Tamsey was “Lady Mormont”” in Game of Thrones - fab actor and great character. I’ve also seen her in a children’s tv series about witches The Last Witch - I watched the first two series that with my tween Granddaughter and it’s definitely meant for tweens imo, but I wasn’t bored.

Redhead56 Mon 04-Sept-23 23:27:20

It's one of the best series I have ever watched which is unusual viewing for me. Because I love watching period dramas most of the time. But this had me hooked and I couldn't stop watching it. The acting is absolutely superb I'm convinced you will enjoy it.

Oreo Mon 04-Sept-23 21:48:40

It’s based on a game of the same name.Tho there are lots of scary parts to it it’s really a sort of terrifying adventure drama.
Stick with it, don’t give up after two episodes.

MayBee70 Mon 04-Sept-23 21:40:06

Thanks Oreo. I’m expecting something like The Road, which I loved but, apart from that, I don’t quite know what sort of world I’m about to enter!

Oreo Mon 04-Sept-23 21:36:12

It’s just brilliant!
No spoilers, just watch it.Horrifying and parts will have you gripping a cushion but it’s not scary so that you can’t walk in the dark😂
Really great acting from the two main characters and the special effects need a medal. It’s also touching.I loved it.

MayBee70 Mon 04-Sept-23 18:24:20

I’ve got the dvd. I don’t know what it was on but everyone was raving about it. It was directed by the man who did the excellent Chernobyl. I don’t have Netflix or anything like that so I have to wait till things come out on dvd so I’m always a year behind everybody else and have to try to not find out what happens. I’m assuming it’s post apocalyptical!

Skydancer Mon 04-Sept-23 18:14:58

Oh... this sounds interesting. What time and what channel please?

MayBee70 Mon 04-Sept-23 18:11:46

Going to start watching it tonight. Is it scary? I often go for a walk after dark: might I be too scared to do so??
