Black Snow is an Australian crime drama television series set in an Australian South Sea Islander community in northern Queensland.

I'm enjoying this and knew nothing about the South Sea Islander communities in Australia so it's been an education. It's a good strong drama.

Anyone else watching it?

I haven't, but I'm looking for a new series, so I'll give it a go at the weekend. Thanks for the tip!

Me! I'm on episode 3. I think it's very good.

Only seen the first 2 episodes, but I thought it was a very good 'whodunit', and perfect viewing for a Saturday night!

Wow! Finished watching the whole thing. Now that's how to make a good drama!!! Well scripted, well acted and filmed.

Thanks for the heads up on this gripping Áustralian crime series Sparkelfizz, I watched episode 1 and half of episode 2 last night, and very good it is so far!

I’ve binged and enjoyed this over the last few days. I had to look up the actor who was playing Steve as his expressions looked familiar. He was one of the main characters in 800 Words another series I enjoyed.

An excellent drama. Will look forward hopefully to a second series if it’s made.

It would be great if another series was made with the detective investigating another "cold case".

I finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it. So well acted and written, a very satisfying watch. Like OP it taught me about the South Sea communities in Australia, I hadn't known about them before. One thing that I found strange, which may have been just me, did everyone speak with an English accent rather than Australian?

We watched two episodes last night and enjoying it!

Thank you Sparklefizz watched over two nights, really enjoyed it and can recommend.
I would not have known about it, without your post. 😊

We’ve been watching an episode a night and will watch the final one tonight. Really good and unlike anything else I’ve seen. Well made with a strong underlying sense of menace.

Many of the South sea Islands were colonised. The Spanish, Portuguese, Germany and the uk.
There are one group who speak with a West Country accent.

I started watching it because of actor Travis Fimmel who was in Vikings the series.

I really enjoyed this series. Mind you, I enjoy most Australian TV.

I had no idea about the way the South Seas Islander were treated.

I also watched Three Pines recently on Amazon (or Netflix??). It starred the lovely Alfred Molina. I was based in Canada and raised the issue of the way the Mohawk community were treated. I had no idea about that either.

* It was based

Thanks for posting this Sparklefizz. I have been searching for a new series and this sounds like a good watch.

I'm glad people are liking it as I tend to feel responsible if I recommend something smile I found it by accident, just browsing, and really enjoyed it myself.

I’ve watched the first three episodes, and really enjoyed them. I especially liked a lot of the indigenous background music plus the cinematography is very good. And apart from the rather gorgeous Travis Fimmel, I don’t recognise any of the cast, which makes a wonderful change.

We are enjoying watching this, and have finished episode 4.
The only thing is the very annoying Boom, Boom Boom of the soundtrack. It is so loud, that it needs turning down.

Llamas99 Wed 04-Oct-23 07:08:38

I watched Three Pines and adore Alfred Molina. I was sorry that I came to the end and wish I had more quality shows like this available. Seaside Hotel (Norwegian) and Death in Paradise are enjoyable. Australian TV sounds very interesting.
Right now, I'm binging on 'The Chosen' but will say no more about it as it is a religious series and unsure about the forum rules. I appreciate hearing about the shows you watch!

Is this the series you’re taking about?
