Calling all Beatles fans.

I just discovered that today 2nd November at 2pm they are releasing their very final track called Now and Then which features cleaned up vocals of John Lennon plus lots of other magical effects thanks to AI. Here's a 12 min film about it:

I just watched the video, and had to hold back tears. I thought it very well done, respectfully so.

I will listen again and pay a bit more attention to the song. I'm sure there are many reasons why some songs are chosen or rejected by a group at the time of making an album. I'm not sure what the timeline was of original writing and recording by John, or what album it may have originally have been considered (and rejected).

I hope Paul never gives up. He's been an amazing force for good in music and a huge talent.
This new song grows on you the more we hear it, I find.

I enjoyed The Beatles and the BBC and downloaded it to watch again - and again! - along with the Now And Then short documentary. Having heard the song daily on Boom Radio, and listened to it many times on Spotify, my earlier feeling that it was “dull” has grown to absolutely loving it.

The Rolling Stones album, Hackney Diamonds, is top of the album charts. I don’t expect The Beatles will be the Christmas #1 single, but who knows?

I didn’t think much of the song on first hearing, but have watched the YouTube video several times, and Now and Then is growing on me. The video made me cry, especially the very end when you see them get younger.

Exactly this 🤓definitely a “grower”

The video is on YouTube, it is quite clever and touching.

The Beatles and The Rolling Stones amongst hundreds of others (including those who’s songs had been written by McCartney/Lennon. were the backdrop to my childhood and beyond.

Those who never enjoyed the Beatles anyway…well just give it a miss 😌

Hopefully Paul will never give up. He was amazing at Glastonbury last year. Can't believe anyone thinks Now And Then is "awful". Even my grown up kids love it.

One word -AWFUL!
It's about time Paul McCartney gave up and retired gracefully

Personally for me,it's not a 'Beatles' track but a Lennon track with other 3 as backing.

Mojack26 Sun 05-Nov-23 23:21:44

And me!

Nodj Sun 05-Nov-23 21:26:50

I agree. Not my favorite but brought back sweet memories’

Happy for you. Starr has instructed his fans, such as they are, to stop bothering him . He’s had enough of fans. They’re a nuisance. Bless !

silverlining48 Sun 05-Nov-23 19:05:19

They were of our time though a nd they are not bothering me.

tictacnana Sun 05-Nov-23 19:00:50

They were of their time and that time has gone. Macca and Starr should go away and stop bothering people.

I have only heard it once but liked it. I saw the Beatles at Finsbury Park London about 60 years ago. You couldn’t hear them fir all the screaming 🙀
Saw the stones following year in London. When they tried to chat me up outside the venue I gave them the cold shoulder, they were really scruffy compared to the fab 4. Was very surprised when they appeared on stage.

Madmother21 Sun 05-Nov-23 17:48:25

Underwhelming

On first hearing I thought the song was a dirge too but it’s a ‘grower’ and after watching the video I was hooked. Love it now.

Visgir1 Sun 05-Nov-23 15:33:28

Not that keen.
Interesting that The Stones also have realised an Album with one of the singles out, bit like the 60's Beatles vs The Stones.

Sorry but I think that this is a bit of a dull dirge, pretty typical of later John Lennon products. But it was lovely to see film of George Harrison again, such a great person.

Not a Beatles fan, always preferred Rolling Stones. Must be great though for their fans so fair play to them.

Delila Sun 05-Nov-23 13:13:31

I can imagine it segueing into “Nothings Gonna Change my World”.

Cp43 Sun 05-Nov-23 13:10:36
