Mike Baldwin!!! A blast from the past. If only it was Des...
I wonder if they have recorded numerous possible solutions to the Lauren story to keep the spoilers at bay, then run out of money and decided to cobble (
) them all together (running some of them backwards to spin it out more) and are hoping we won't notice? All we need now is for Mike Baldwin to be filmed in the shower (aarrgghh!) realising that the past 20 years have all been a dream. . .
I have never watched Emmerdale so did not realise they ended stories quicker than Corrie does. There have been so many repeats this week at times I have lost track although Wednesday's episode on the whole was better managed as my birdbrain could follow it better.
We could offer a few good writers from this small forum. I doubt if they would like our suggestions.
I agree they don’t need to make Corrie into a ‘modern look’ just a straightforward storyline please that doesn’t go on for years
I do think Emmerdale has the upper hand there they seem to come to a conclusion of a lot of their more dramatic storylines much quicker than Corrie
I also didn’t know where Hope found this blessed necklace. TBH, it all jumped about so much..
I watched Tuesday’s episode later as I was out, and honestly thought at first they were re-showing Monday’s as it seemed to be a repeat….
And the times we have watched Roy’s mug of tea being spilt, and the ruined book….
I'm just so sick of the way this is being played out. I wish it could just be straightforward in the usual way.
Didn’t realise the children were going INSIDE the cars ???
Well it could be any bodies car as we didn’t even know Bernie owned a car so they probably all own cars
Surely Lauren is dead because it would be difficult to keep her somewhere against her will when the murderer I assume has a daytime job so cannot be watching 24/7. We will find out soon.
I do hope Roy survives.
I did not realise Hope found the necklace in a car she had been supposedly washing.
It seems Hope found Lauren's missing necklace when she was washing cars with Glenda's group. Trouble is I didn't take much notice of the cars being cleaned so I am no farther forward.
Doodledog
What happened in Rotherham (and elsewhere) was horrible, but statistically the majority of child sex abusers are white.
4.3.5 Characteristics of defendants: ethnicity
In the records of defendants prosecuted for child sexual abuse offences in 2021, their broad ethnic background was recorded in 70% (5,163) of cases. Among these individuals, almost nine in 10 (4,573) were White – a higher proportion than in the general population of England and Wales (see Figure 18). This is likely to be related to the overall under- identification of child sexual abuse in minority ethnic communities, and to the fact that White British defendants were more likely than any other ethnic group to be prosecuted for image offences – which accounted for more than two-fifths of child sexual abuse prosecutions in 2021 (see Figure 16 above).
The conviction ratio ranged from 62% for Asian defendants to 88% for White defendants. This too is likely to be related to the offences for which people from different ethnic backgrounds were prosecuted: image offences were more likely than most other child sexual abuse offences to result in a conviction.

Anyway, whether or not Nathan is involved in Lauren's disappearance, he should still be behind bars regardless of his ethnicity. I don't know how he managed to get out so quickly.
Not what Maggie Oliver says. She knows more about this than anybody.

They have only just started recording ethnicity of grooming gangs at her insistence.
Poor Roy.
I am not enjoying this storyline at all, hope it concludes soon.
For what it's worth (not a lot) I don't think Lauren is dead.
Well it came over to me as if she thought that word was significant. And before that she was talking about to Roy about the careful use of punctuation in the texts, which unfortunately mirrored Roy’s, and then later she picked up on the word cookie as if it had maybe been used in the text, and then her boyfriend said it, and a look crossed her face and she told him to go. Or maybe I’m slowly going mad with the election talk that’s already draining my will to live and so I’m reading too much into it.
We shall see.
I missed any cookie reference too Avaline
I didn't catch the 'cookie' implication. What does it mean. She certainly has lost a lot of weight.
Deedee is looking very good she looks as if she’s lost quite a bit of weight
So Deedee thought the word cookie was significant! Interesting. And then her boyfriend (forget his name) used the word, although it was in a familiar expression the way the cookie crumbles and she got rid of him pretty quickly then. So did he do the dirty deed? Tune in tomorrow to find out. Maybe.
The general opinion now seem to be that Lauren is dead. I thought perhaps she would pop up and announce that she had been to a retreat too. I keep reading of 'Lauren's murderer' - perhaps this is a red herring and she is alive. I can hardly wait for the revelation - if I don't fall asleep.
I don't like Deedee's boyfriend either but only because he's unattractive and boring. It would be good if it was him though as he'd be off to jail so no longer on our screens.
Meanwhile I do like that poor policewoman.
I was wondering if a female could have murdered or injured Lauren as her appearance was quite slight. Apparently we will eventually find out tomorrow if I have not dropped off to sleep.
I do not think the producers think it is going as well as they had hoped, for me it is too bitty only being on for 30 minutes including breaks.
I cant be doing with rereading 19 pages.
And I am I think two episodes behind.
Do we actually think Lauren has even been murdered?
I dont think so?
I do not see magazine covers. Or know any spoilers whatsoever. Which is the way I like things.
Dee Dee's boyfriend has been lying low lately. I don't like the cut of his jib, and think if the plan had been to make him a long-term character he'd have had more to do before now, so he must be a baddie. Quite what sort of baddie I don't know, but I doubt we've seen the last of him.
Yes, interesting as this is, let’s just get back to the rubbish that is Corrie
True, which is why I posted it
. I am in no way excusing what happened in Rotherham and elsewhere, but I don't think that bringing race into the Nathan storyline is remotely relevant.
He would still be in jail outside of Soapland, though. I hope so, anyway.
They admit that this was based on very limited data.
