I also wondered about a phone in his cell and who pays for the calls?

I am losing the will to live over the Lauren saga and the females all appear to bed hop if not now certainly in the past.

I am sure Max is guilty of something. I would like to wipe the smirk off his face.

It’s not just the females who bed hop, now or in the past.

Peter, Adam, Steve, Daniel, Ryan, to name a few.

And of course Ken in his time was quite the lothario!

Doodledog Sat 25-May-24 10:15:44

Yes, without all the 'bed hopping' there would be limited scope for 'love children', paternity tests, anguished secrets and so on that drive the plots in Soapland.

I also think Max is a little toad. He seemed to be improving after his time in Borstal or whatever they call it now, but he's becoming insufferable again. He was in love with Lauren, though, which could explain his behaviour around that. I immediately suspected him of involvement in the Abi photo situation, too. Maybe he is destined to be misunderstood until he grows up.

Having heard about Roy and Evelyn's book club I investigated the book they've chosen. If this two like it then it must be up my street. Have downloaded it.

I haven't watched Coronation St for years, but it interests me how the garments factory is still in business as all the others in Lancashire closed years ago as they couldn't compete with cheap imports.

Clawdy Mon 27-May-24 12:31:04

What was the book club choice?

Calendargirl Mon 27-May-24 12:39:31

Clawdy

What was the book club choice?

It was a Winifred Holtby one, ‘Poor Caroline’ I think.

Aveline Mon 27-May-24 13:22:18

That's the one. I've not started it yet though.

Clawdy Mon 27-May-24 14:38:16

Ah, right, hadn't heard of that one. Thanks!

Calendargirl Mon 27-May-24 16:06:08

Don’t forget, Corrie is on every night this week, at 7.30, for half an hour.

We will all be on the edge of our seats!

Meant to find out what happened to Lauren.

(As if we really care)

grin

Doodledog Mon 27-May-24 20:15:42

What happened to Roy? I found this episode frustrating. If it started life as an hour-long one but was cut in half to accommodate Britain's Got Talent then that's a shame, as Roy is a much loved character, and if he's been attacked it deserves more attention than a minute at the beginning and another at the end of an episode.

Aveline Mon 27-May-24 20:58:49

The filming was a bit different too. I think the director is trying to be arty. Waste of time. We want the story and the people.

Charleygirl5 Mon 27-May-24 22:18:53

Apparently the murderer was mentioned- if so I must have blinked because I missed it.

Sarnia Mon 27-May-24 23:42:12

Sarah gets on my nerves. She comes up with the most hare-brained schemes. Her working hours are very flexible too. Looks like Roy has had a visit from Griff who has just arrived in the prison. Somebody not joining up the dots to see the connection between the pair of them.

Calendargirl Tue 28-May-24 06:39:28

PC Craigy will have to watch out, DC Kit is obviously going to be ‘the one’ on hand for any misdemeanours on Corrie from now on.

Did you feel there was any interaction between him and Sarah, “Ms Platt” ?

Definite romance in the offing, I think. ❤️

On a welcome note, have just read that Simon’s final scenes air on Monday, when he goes off to work on Dad’s yacht.

Hurrah!

Charleygirl5 Tue 28-May-24 08:18:11

Simon's departure cannot come soon enough and I read that Sarah is also leaving. Whether that is her choice or is even true remains to be seen.

Doodledog Tue 28-May-24 09:54:08

Please no more spoilers, but I’ve wondered whether Craigie’s spell on Big Brother will get him other projects that will mean the Street needs another police officer.

Calendargirl Tue 28-May-24 12:53:49

I didn’t think I was giving anything away about Simon leaving next Monday. Talk about the long goodbye! We’ve known since about last November that he was going.

Good luck to all of them on this yacht when Si throws a hissy fit and stomps off, scowling.

Man overboard!

Doodledog Tue 28-May-24 13:15:22

It was the comment about Sarah that was news to me. I do actively avoid reading anything that might spoil the plot lines, but it's not always possible, and yes, Simon's departure has been a long time coming.

Clawdy Tue 28-May-24 16:59:41

Pretty certain Sarah isn't leaving. The headline about her was linked to another actor quitting, not her.

BlueBelle Tue 28-May-24 17:42:49

There were definitely headlines saying Sarah is leaving but they ve been wrong before so who knows whether Sarah leaves or stays won’t really give away any story lines
I too didn’t like the little tiny titbit about Roy slipped in

Charleygirl5 Tue 28-May-24 18:32:18

Doodledog mea culpa.

Sarnia Wed 29-May-24 08:31:40

Trust Hope to have Lauren's necklace.

Aveline Wed 29-May-24 08:35:33

I'd really like Lauren to walk back in and ask what all the fuss is about.
Meanwhile I'm really disliking the arty filming and presentation of this week's story.

maddyone Wed 29-May-24 08:39:44

I also don’t like the way the programme has been filmed this week, flitting backwards and forwards and repeating bits a lot. You have to work hard to see where we are on the timeline with all that going on.
