We're ready for Blackpool !

It was time for Angela to go, she couldn't keep up with the other dancers at the beginning of the show and allowances had to be made. She did fanatically well, super fit, puts me to shame. I think her speech as amazing.
Think Nigel will be next, maybe Bobby.

Thank you merlotgran. It sounds like they had a fab day out! Can I ask do the competitors have much of a break between the end of Saturday night’s show and the start of the recording of the results show? Do they all leave and start again after a rest?

I’ll ask later on when DD is home from work. I suppose it’s the length of time that the voting is open so Tess, Claudia and the judges can change their clothes and try and look like they’ve had a good night’s sleep. 😂

Did I see that Strictly is only on for one hour tonight?

Crikey, what with all the sob story videos which will be out en masse, plus Claudia’s rabbiting, there will hardly be time for any proper dancing.

grin

Seeing as each dance is only 90 seconds there is certainly a lot of waffle! I haven't seen a lot of sob stories this year, I thought the contestants have been more articulate about their actual dancing.

I'd be very pleased if the shorter show tonight meant that there would be more dancing than chit chat but as there are now so few dancers left, it looks as if one hour could well be enough. I might even watch Dr Who!

A bit more goss…

There isn’t much time between the end of the dancing and the results show. Everyone dashes to the loo and they offer bottles of water and biscuits. DD was dying for a cup of tea!!
As much as possible is recorded in the afternoon including all the introductions. It’s very noisy…The props team leave stuff everywhere especially the floor!
DD was curious to know how come the microphones don’t pick up the background noises when you watch it on the telly. They obviously have ways of editing it all out. There were loud drilling noises getting Layton’s pole in place.
Dianne Buswell is a bit of a diva. Every time there was a short break she announced she needed to go somewhere and they had to keep sending somebody to bring her back.
DD was walking back from the loo and spotted Anton walking towards her. She smiled and he gave her a cheery, ‘Alright?’
DGD was chatted up by a couple of BBC staff during a break. Her fledgling career in film and TV make up was scuppered by Covid even though she’d landed a job at Pinewood so she did a year’s teacher training and is now very happy at the local primary school. She admitted to a few pangs of regret but she’s a sensible girl and an already hugely competitive career was practically out of reach after Lockdown.
Only about 300 members of the audience are general public, the rest are family and friends of competitors, judges and the presenters plus celebs and previous competitors.
Dave Arch and Claudia do a lot of joking in between takes.
In the pic DD and DGD are sitting in front of the double pillar to the left of Craig.

Oh sh*t! How on earth did those other pictures get in there? They have absolutely nothing to do with Strictly!!

GAH!!

Sparklefizz Sat 25-Nov-23 11:53:05

Thanks for sharing all that behind the scenes info merlotgran. It's really interesting.

I must admit Dianne Buswell is not one of my favourite pros. When she puts on that "little girl" voice or is very over-excitable, I find it annoying.

Well done to your DGD for choosing a career which will be lasting and worthwhile.

Ha ha! That was DH on one of his last fishing days out before he became too ill to do what he loved best. Scruffy b***er but he did scrub up nicely…sometimes! 😂

Goodness knows how the photo got in there!!

I'm sure GNHQ will delete them fir you (if anyone is there!)

Did you eat the fish or did he throw it back?

They were always thrown back. We did eat pike though if they got into a lake and started eating the small fish.

No, there hasn’t been too many sob stories so far, but now we are approaching the semi finals etc., I think it will soon be time for Granny and Granddad, sitting on the sofa at home, to tearfully tell us what a wonderful GD/GS the dancer is, and how they deserve to win and so on.

Cynical, moi?

Joseann Sat 25-Nov-23 14:54:06

Talking of Grandparents, did you know Bobby's paternal grandfather was the captain of that fateful boat the Marchioness on the Thames? He was drowned along with lots of partygoers.
(I taught at the school in West Essex that Bobby attended).

Sexy choreography for the Rumba by Katya.

Sparklefizz Sat 25-Nov-23 19:59:09

Thought Annabel's Paso was terrific. Shut up Craig!!

(Also loved her dress!)

Nanatoone Sat 25-Nov-23 19:59:10

Loved Annabelle so much

Nanatoone Sat 25-Nov-23 20:00:20

Why do they keep dressing Layton in female clothing? I don’t get it and it puts me off. Sorry if that offends just the truth.
