Confession ….. I have never watched more than a few minutes of this prog but this time around I plan to because Fred Sirieix, Grace Dent and Nigel Farage are in it which should be interesting.

Some very dirty tricks going on from ITV. Someone has dug up something from years ago which they claim included an offensive word by Nigel Farage. This was doing a cameo of which he has done about 4,000 and for which he’s paid about £75. These might be for birthdays, for celebrations, for leaving do’s, for anything really and he just reads out exactly what the person wants. So they might use obscure words or “in group” jokes.

Now they are asking NF to explain the word he used but how can he do that from the jungle?

As far as I can see he is doing everything asked of him, all the challenges, in a sporting manner. He is mixing with all the campmates (even when rude Nella walks off mid conversation) and he is keeping his cool when she tries to make him mad.

Last night she was on about her pronunciation of the word “water” which she said was Jamaican patois when she is from the Congo via Belgium!! Nigel was correct, in that if a white person said it like that it would be called cultural appropriation. I think she is a devious and cunning person and she is drawing Danielle in too.

They are setting NF up and TBH if I was him I might be inclined to just walk away too but obviously he doesn’t know this is all going on away from the jungle.

Sorry to hear Jamie L has left today. She appeared emotionally fragile in the early days but then settled and looked like she was beginning to enjoy the experience.

I like her as well.

She was doing so well. Social media was filled with praise for her

Shame. I hope she's OK

He wrote previously and there was a deafening silence.

Chris makes some good points.
It doesn't encourage viewers to lose a fear of insects and reptiles, either, as they are portrayed as something to be fearful of shrieked at.
Of course we have to learn to have a healthy respect of snakes, reptiles, poisonous insects but I agree that this is giving out the wrong message.

And trashing the rainforest like that makes me 🤬

The area it's filmed is a dedicated film studio with all the necessary buildings and appendages - catering, crew living quarters etc. It's been there years. Part of it is a disused banana plantation.

Ok, fair enough.

The forest would soon swallow it all up again if the programmes stopped being made.

Anyone watching now? Is it raining there?
I hear it's horrendous in some parts.

Wish Nella would go, she like a hyped up 2 year old, constantly screaming or sulking. Think she will walk away over some perceived slight before long. Love Sam but he’s like an overexcited puppy. Think they are hard on Nigel.

Aveline Wed 29-Nov-23 15:18:08

Just catching up. God! Nella is so annoying. She's just like a huge fat toddler. Doesn't listen to others. So frustrating. Out asap please.

The wood is left out by the production team for them to find.

Have you noticed the wood they use for the fire is perfectly cut with a saw, no scavengering for it.

Of course it is, the trees in the rainforest are protected.

Chris Packham has written a detailed letter to And and Dec regarding the abuse of thousands of living creatures. They are not only using insects and crustaceans but frogs, snakes, lizards and rats.

The programme makers have replied, details here:

Thanks GrannyGravy that's somewhat relieving!

Oops I forgot to mention that it isn’t just the U.K. that films there but many other countries have their version of I’m a Celebrity.

It's a dedicated film studio, it's permanent and has all facilities any working building needs. Just Google for info although finding out how 'set-up' it is takes away any mystery.

I know - but this is in a "protected" rainforest, a UNESCO Heritage site.

I hear from another source that the weather is absolutely dreadful, with a supercell storm devastating some areas of NSW.

According to our Aussie contingent the set is closely monitored, they have to use only certain cleaning products so as not to harm the environment (bodies and dishes). Nobody is allowed to interact with any native wildlife
, other than those specifically bred for the trials.

All profits from hiring out the set are used to protect the rainforest along with local biodiversity projects.

It’s obviously outdoors but is it actually in the rainforest?

lemsip Wed 29-Nov-23 08:30:00

she's back in camp now.

lemsip Wed 29-Nov-23 07:22:42

nella rose is now being treated by medics and exempt from next trial. after doing a trial with snakes around her

They will rub their hands together at the sight of their bank accounts, and jump right back into their comfortable lives I should think.
I read they only have to be in there for 72 hours to fulfill their contract.
