Confession ….. I have never watched more than a few minutes of this prog but this time around I plan to because Fred Sirieix, Grace Dent and Nigel Farage are in it which should be interesting.

I am just an every day normal Gran, I know six of the contestants this year.

Nigel Farage (MEP)
Josie Gibson (TV presenter)
Grace Dent (Restaurant critic/food writer)
Fred Siriex (his programme with Gino d’Campo and Gordon Ramsey)
Marvin Hume (JLS group)
Jamie Lyn Spears (Brittany Spears sister and child actress)

I do not know the soap stars as I do not watch soaps

I haven’t watched Made in Chelsea so I didn’t know the blonde young man.

No idea who Nella was as I do not go on TikTok or Instagram

maddyone - yes, I know they’re cheaper, but I’m sure it’s never been this bad. Previous years I’ve know 4 or 5 contestants, maybe more.
Farage laughing all the way to the bank though with his 1.5 million for 2 weeks work.

Adeline - trust me, they’re nobodies to most people.

Maybe they're only 'nobodies' to us Grans? I suspect that they're well known to younger age groups and sports/music fans.
Producers have to appeal to a much wider age group than just us.

I think they pick such nobodies Kandinsky because those nobodies will do it for far less money than more well known people. They’ve only got Nigel Farage because they offered him a huge fee of one and a half million. Also the nobodies tend to get a boost to their job offers afterwards. I agree they are nobodies though, I’d never heard of any of them before except Farage.

Kandinsky Tue 21-Nov-23 10:13:01

I like Nigel Farage, he speaks a lot of sense, but I’m not bothering to watch as have absolutely no idea who all the other ‘celebrities’ are? - why do they pick such nobodies? surely better known celebs are available?

I note that the programme’s viewing figures are down by 2 million compared to the start in 2022. Farage does not seem to be the draw they had hoped.

Ghastly individual.

Whatever.
I’m enjoying it.

Inspect that pizza carefully tonight Joseann grin

Joseann Tue 21-Nov-23 07:57:31

Oh crikey. Just realised I'm having pizzas for dinner tonight with the DGC! 🤢 🤮 🍕

Nella continues to scream all the time, but people seem to like it because she keeps being chosen for the trials. She has started scratching her head a lot, hope they sort that out for her as it doesn't look good.

Nigel is very self-controlled and like Matt Hancock is just getting on with it and doing what needs to be done. No drama, no hysterics, just self-control.

Tofu munching walkerati.

Brilliant ! 😂

It's 'tofu munching wokerati' because they are woke.

I like Nella. She was good with Nigel tonight. I love the way she calls him Farage.

This 😂

maddyone Mon 20-Nov-23 23:58:08

It’s not unfriendly, it’s just the way she does it.

Nella was great tonight with Nigel, so funny.

Bridie22 Mon 20-Nov-23 22:32:14

Nella is growing on me!

Josie to win !

Aveline Mon 20-Nov-23 19:27:06

Yes. I liked Josie at once

harrysgran Mon 20-Nov-23 17:46:01

Great opening episode Nella hopefully first out I think Josie will make the final

Smileless2012 Mon 20-Nov-23 17:38:10

They must have been desperate to get him.

Chestnut Mon 20-Nov-23 17:36:15

Apparently NF has the highest amount ever! Matt Hancock and Boy George got way less than that. This is apparently the sums they had.

Smileless2012 Mon 20-Nov-23 17:08:42

Watched last night's episode at lunch time I thoroughly enjoyed it. NF comes across well and I think he'll be in for the long haul.

Aveline Mon 20-Nov-23 16:31:13

People will keep voting Nella in just because she's so noisy and pathetic at trials.

shysal Mon 20-Nov-23 16:20:45

I heard today that NF is getting £1.5million!!

HousePlantQueen Mon 20-Nov-23 13:51:49

With all that dreadful screaming Nella is driving me nuts so I really hope she gets voted out first.

Grace Dent is another who annoys me intensely, so I hope she goes too.

Nigel has taken a leadership role already and will do well I think, just as Matt Hancock did. Both being voted to do all the trials but handling them well.

Are you my missing twin? grin. I cannot abide Grace Dent, something about her tone of voice, and when she used to come on R4 I had to turn it off. As for Nella......what a screecher, I hope she gets kicked out very soon. Farage, as I expected, is using this as a rehabilitation exercise to present himself as Mr Reasonable to the more stupid guillible members of the audience.
