Anyone watching? Very gory, but in a blackly comic way.

Annoyingly I couldn’t work out how to get subtitles on catchup at first and I struggle to hear what people are saying so, by episode two I’m a bit confused about who’s who. Thankfully, years of watching Game of Thrones and Scandi noir have desensitised me enough to watch gory things. It is pushing me to my limit though.

Yeah but very enjoyable

Yep was Baptiste from the missing and from his own series, he's a brilliant actor...was so gentle as Baptiste but a really nasty on this

You can recommend it as much as you like, some of us don't want any more blood, gore, murder, drugs, serial killers etc. We're just sick of it and I don't think it should be shown at 9pm on the BBC when pre-teens may still be up and come across it by accident.

The extreme violence definitely has shades of the Coen brothers' films of which I've always been a fan. Violent - yes, very. Different - yes, very and funny and clever too. Certainly extremely black comedy. Maybe the violence (especially tongue extraction!) could have been made a little less realistic but on balance this is a very well made production with excellent acting and I found it both intriguing and interesting. Incidentally I'm someone who can only watch violence if I know it isn't actually happening!

I watched it all on iPlayer and really enjoyed it, brilliant dark humour, lots of twists and turns. It just got better with every episode. Highly recommend it

Excellent taste PittCity!

NLnanna Sun 26-Nov-23 13:29:00

DH loves it, but not for me.

Bea65 Sun 26-Nov-23 13:24:16

Thought it definitely different and enjoyed it!

Silverlady333 Sun 26-Nov-23 13:05:22

Yes it is what it says on the can! Gory but also very amusing. We binged watched it last week. Totally off the wall but a good watch!

I guess it's one of those Marmite shows ... love it or hate it. We are enjoying it, it reminds me of the Coen Brothers (Fargo) and Killing Eve among others. I love the dark humour and the strangeness of it. I think it's a brave offer from the BBC in the Sunday night slot. We've not watched it all yet, we like to go week by week in the old-fashioned way.

Another one we are enjoying is 'Scrublands' on Saturday nights - set in Australia, a very violent mass shooting in the opening minutes, but all is not what it seems.

grannytotwins Sun 26-Nov-23 12:03:37

We have watched all of it. It’s very strange but we enjoyed it.

Very black comedy but well done and a bit different. We like it.

vampirequeen Sun 26-Nov-23 11:29:51

We gave up at the police station. Far too violent and gory.

If you found the boat to gory. What Wolf it's on iPlayer. Not as gory more psychological. Also Deceived very good but can't remember if it's on iPlayer or All 4.

If you don't like gory but like a good mystery watch Magpie Murders with Lesley Manville. On iPlayer also Sherwood again with Lesley Manville.

I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy watching someone having their tongue removed. 😕

It’s what goes on in the writer’s head that bothers me!

Blinko Sun 26-Nov-23 11:15:58

We’re watching. It’s dark, funny and intriguing. Reminds me of the film In Bruges, if anyone’s seen that.

Juliet27 Sun 26-Nov-23 11:13:49

Glorianny

I got as far as someone having his tongue cut out, and switched off.

Me too. Well actually I turned off before the actual cut. I 'm too squeamish for stuff like that.

Turned it off at that stage too.

Silvertwigs Sun 26-Nov-23 11:03:51

The Tailor reminded me of Killing Eve! Certainly a lot of blood but really good!

We're enjoying it.

We started watching (I was keeping my eyes closed some of the time!) but it was DH who decided to turn it off - think that must have been just before the tongue bit. It was a relief - his choice but I didn't want to continue.

El73 Wed 22-Nov-23 21:07:07

We're enjoying it.

Kathmaggie Wed 22-Nov-23 19:52:34

Not for me - I enjoyed Missing and the Tourist - this is just unpleasant and weird

Shizam Wed 22-Nov-23 19:40:35

I tuned in for Daisy Haggard, who I love. But aside from the gore, the story is trying too hard to be a homage to other genres. Recommend Daisy in Back to Life. Funny and poignant. Think still on iPlayer.

grannybuy Wed 22-Nov-23 17:47:46

The trailer didn’t inspire me, so haven’t watched yet. Might get it on iPlayer. Chestnut, you’re so right about The Newsreader.
From Australia. I’m almost at the end of the second series. There are a number of good dramas from Australia. Five Bedrooms was particularly enjoyable, also the recent Black Snow.
