On BBC 2 now
Anyone watching this? She is amazing for 90! Obviously her hair is dyed, (or is it a wig?) and is heavily made up but still looks great. Very watchable.

One or two Scottish grans on GN are not happy with either the Westminster government or the Royal Family.

This is to springishere.

(I’m not in Scotland, by the way!)

MerylStreep Sat 25-Nov-23 17:04:34

Fleurpepper isn’t Scottish, she’s Swiss living in Switzerland.

As I will be 90 next year, I will now watch the interview. I am not a film fan, but Joan Collins is a great personality so it will be interesting to see her. Fleur Pepper’s carry on about three Italian party makes me shake my head. From a light hearted discussion about a famous personality, FP has to bring her hatred of Johnson into the subject. What a miserable thing to do! Can I ask a question? How many Grans like FP are Scottish? If most of those who dwell only on hating the Tories are Scots then I understand them better. Now if I could be bothered I could rake up Jeremy Corbyn’s sex life and wee could have a thread about him, but I notice that nobody seems to have any interest in a rather insignificant man so he isn’t worth it. I love Gransnet but I had no idea that so many middle class, well educated women seem to hate a lot of disdain for those of us who have a more middle view of the world.

Agree absolutely.

I think she looks amazing - yes, she’s had stuff done to her face etc - but what a personality- it shines through- she’s so down to earth, still flirts, beautiful eyes and I loved that phrase- ‘ ‘the ego has landed’ - perfect!👌

I think Joanie's love life might be a whole lot more interesting than either Boris's or Jeremy's, Annie1!

have i ?
i still don't get it.
i mean, the nazis were not known for respecting the rule of law, were pure fascists, might equals right.
so why not flex those muscles, stomp those jackboots, and grab everything in switzerland too.
i realise this question reveals more about my lack of understanding generally . . .

Welbeck
The Swiss were in a financial position to sell the stolen nazi gold to other countries. As they are doing now with the Russian gold sent to them.

Sadly I watched the programme.
Not looking well but trying to be glamorous and succeeding. Her attitude to others was demanding and it didn’t appear to bother her.
She has had an interesting life and her stories are entertaining.
Not a ‘nice’ person is my opinion. Could be more humble.

I went to 'an evening with Joan' a while back and she was brilliant and interesting. I did not know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Joan Collins did an evening with at our local Theatre recently and was seen in our local Greggs the next morning buying a Veggy Sausage Roll she looked amazing for her age, hair and make-up was spot on she is so attractive for her age she was very plesent & friendly chatting away with locals

welbeck Sat 25-Nov-23 12:47:28

yes, being silent can be v effective.
i remember reading the obituary of a successful literary agent.
she had kind of fallen into it, and in the beginning was astonished by how much publishers were offering for her authors' works.
she was amazed at how high the figure was.
so she said nothing, trying to think what to say.
and nearly always the publishers would then up their offer.
and she got the reputation of being an agent who drove a hard bargain.

I watched both interviews by Louis , he’s very skilled and knowledgeable of all of the stars . He’s gentle in his ability to get them to open up. Joan has lived and expressed that well. How she looks is her business. She’s a strong woman . If he was a therapist he would have a queue around the block. He got Pete to face stuff in his past by being silent when he spoke. No false posturing. Excellent tv.

Madwoman11 Sat 25-Nov-23 12:15:16

So what if she's had some work done on her face and wears a wig she looks amazing! I would do the same if I had plenty of money.

4allweknow Sat 25-Nov-23 12:14:08

Came over as very confident about anything raised. Yes wigs, masses of make up over all the facial surgery but can't hide the wrinkly skin on her chest. Definitely showed up all the work she's had done. Lives in a lovely environment, served hand and foot, if I reach 90 that will do for me.

HousePlantQueen Sat 25-Nov-23 12:06:05

I haven't seen the interview, and don't fancy watching it, but I too don't see the fascination with Joan Collins. She is not, in my opinion, a good actress, always is 'Joan Collins' whatever the role. I know a lady who is 90, very slim, always hair done, nails manicured, well dressed, but no trowelled on make up, no wigs, and frankly, she looks a lot better than JC. But, each to their own. |As to those of you sticking your heads in the sand about Johnson and his potentially treasonous visits to the home of an ex KGB agent, without his security detail.....well, if you believe that was innocent, you'll believe anything.

Sorry but I don’t understand how she is so famous, I only remember her in Dynasty and apparently she was in some soft porn film in the 70s
She is to full of herself for my liking and I don’t even think she’s a very good actress

So what was the point in your post - wouldnt it be better to investigate first before posting?

Or asking others who might know more?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-Nov-23 11:43:54

You must be too young to know that her film career began in the 50s Lesley. And you obviously haven’t seen enough of her acting to appreciate why she has been famous for so long.

marta74 Sat 25-Nov-23 11:39:00

Love Joan Collins,She may wear too much make up but has still kept herself one classy lady. Love listening to her . No mutton dressed as lamb . Has a lovely husband. Enjoy her interviews.

Knspol.

Ditto everything you said.

You explained it beautifully.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 25-Nov-23 11:28:55

You don’t have to shout FP. The use of italics or bold print would emphasise your point politely.
