I am not enjoying the show. Bradley Walsh is taking my enjoyment out of watching it by asking for Royal recognition. It is not funny

I could easily imagine that attendance at the Royal Variety Show has, for some time now, been regarded as drawing the short straw by members of the Royal family. In the comfort of your own home, criticise it, but imagine the reaction if any of them sat there stoney faced.

Calendar Girl I remember as a small child staying in London and quite by chance seeing the Queen and the Queen Mother in all their finery going into the theatre to the RVS. It was exactly as you described.

Time has passed and I would neither describe myself as Royalist nor a Republican, but I still remember it, walking back to our hotel that night, I really thought I had seen something magical.

I agree, it was uncomfortable watching. I do wonder why famous people get recognition if they don't do charity work. They are usually well paid.

I thought they gave their services for free to raise money to help support older people who had worked in the entertainment business.

As for the winner of Britains Got Talent !!!! What the hell? When I think of that lovely boy with the wonderful voice and then that idiot pulling off his jacket I don’t know how Simon Cowell could dare show his face.

Bradley Walsh was cringeworthy. He should have more pride.

There was a Royal Command Performance in 1912. Since then it's been named Royal Variety Performance, although 'Command' has stuck firmly in the public memory,
It is ALWAYS 'not as good as it used to be'. :-)

I thought his requesting an honour was hilarious and it looked like the royals thought so too!

I watched some of it as my daughter was in the front row! Fortunately a friend managed to get a picture from the telly to me so I didn't have to endure anymore of this utter drivel. I would have had to be on a heavy dosage of Mogadon to sit through it

I turned off after a few minutes listening to Bradley Walsh he was embarrassing asking for recognition and went on too long about it. Absolutely dire.

Well I enjoyed it very much,it was refreshing to see different acts, only one I didn't like was the BGT winner, we need more variety shows, instead of the endless reality shows, cooking shows and quizzes that seem to be on at the moment.

The worst part for us was when a loud shouty singer (blond haired and in a gold gown) murdered a beautiful, soulful song and turned it into an X factor entry. The Disney musical was very boring and there were far too many shots of the Royals. Disappointing, but then it always is. Quite liked the mad act with the BGT winner and of course Cher.

I also sat down to watch it ....aargh ! wish I had painted a wall and watched paint dry instead ! I persevered (whilst doing something else at the same time ! ) HOPING it would improve but sadly it was awful ...apart from LangLang and Lucy .....what must the Swedish royals have thought ! No wonder Charles never attended ! I guess William and Kate drew the short straw ! Surely we have more talent in the UK than THAT !

No wonder Charles never attended

Charles has attended in the past but has made no secret of the fact that he finds it excruciating. 😂

If you’re going to take the mickey out of the Royals you’ve got to do it well!

I really like Bradley Walsh and i enjoyed the Royal Variety.

They can't please everyone, to some it was great, to some it was terrible.
