Overall, I thought it was quite a good watch - though I thought some of the implausible parts were rather insulting to the intelligence of the viewer!

TerriBull Sun 21-Jan-24 10:09:59

Just to say I finished watching it last night, aside from some of the implausible aspects, as a series I found it pretty watchable and I didn't get the urge to abandon it as I do with so many.

I don't know how Ken is going to be kept out of it when he's in the cctv of the boat being taken. Also they would have put it back where they got it from, big script error that they just ran it up the beach!

granfromafar Sat 20-Jan-24 13:30:47

Thanks, Glorianny. Of course Phil wouldn't have propositioned Ken if Nigel was there!

The doctor was undermining Marion early on in the series making fun her in front of the crowd so I’m thinking not only was he possibly emotionally abusing Marion but he was in control of their money and a comfortable home wasn’t his priority. He had been planning her death for some time.

The setting to me said a lot about their relationship and set me thinking.

He wanted to live in Spain but made it clear that Marion’s illness was stopping them from doing that so I would imagine he had purchased a modest home in the UK but had a large fund stashed away with a view to moving to Spain after Marion’s demise.

I wondered if it was the idea of some young producer who imagined what an elderly persons home would look like.

😂 I bet you are bang on the money there.

All the retired doctors around here live in huge houses with either beautiful sea views or a couple of acres of woodland.

With regard to the doctor's house, Harold Shipman lived in a very modest semi.

Yes, he was caravan man

NannyJan53 Fri 19-Jan-24 16:31:40

MrJ and I were wondering who Trevor was.

Primrose53 Fri 19-Jan-24 13:02:51

Who was Trevor? He sent a message to say where David was? Was it the man in the old caravan?

Am catching up on episodes 3 and 4 before 5 is shown tonight. Thought that Ken was a bit lackadaisical in clearing up after the deed. Didn't wear gloves so his fingerprints would still have been on the glass and cupboards. Also, why wasn't Phil's husband involved in the 'truelove' pact? I thought they were all there when it was agreed. Can't be bothered to re-watch episode 1!

Nigel didn't go to the first funeral. Attendance at funerals seemed to be a bit haphazard, with the daughter and GCs turning up at one of them.
Phil wouldn't have propositioned Ken if Nigel was there (or I don't think she would)

We enjoyed the series. A few questions but there always are in anything.

Calendargirl Fri 19-Jan-24 09:21:15

Was it ever explained why Phil jilted Ken at the last minute?

And if she was so beautiful, and all the chaps fancied her, why did she choose boring old Nigel? Was he the ‘safe’ option, happy to bring up their daughter whilst she pursued her high powered career?

If she had married Deadly Doctor David, they could have had the high life he craved, and were probably more suited to each other. Why did he pick Marion?

Diggingdoris Fri 19-Jan-24 08:08:16

I've just watched the last episode and was surprised how it ended. I was hoping Phil and Ken would drive off into the sunset and live together happily ever after. They could have blamed all the murders on David but that policewoman was too clever for that to happen .
I really enjoyed seeing some superb older actors for a change.

Of all the locations I can’t find any mention of it but does anyone know if the end was filmed at Severn Beach?

Sparklefizz Wed 17-Jan-24 18:31:00

But you don’t always know until you’ve read it that there are ‘Spoilers’

That's true, Calendargirl

If I haven’t finished watching something, I don’t read the comments until I have.

I wasn’t referring to you Sparklefizz, you gave nothing away.

As someone who doesn’t binge watch, I prefer to view the episodes week by week, I feel I can already guess the outcome of tonight’s and tomorrow night’s episodes from what some of you have mentioned.

We often have discussions on when it’s appropriate to comment on what’s happening, and my feeling is that the ending shouldn’t be given away before the programme has actually gone out in real time.

Why would doctor David be living in a shabby little bungalow with really old fashioned gloomy decor? The ex police lady had a very swish home.

I think I asked the same question a little earlier. Odd choice of home for a retired Doctor.
