I’m looking forward to this. I love most things that Lindsey Duncan is in.

MayBee70 Wed 03-Jan-24 22:26:55

I was a bit worried about watching it ( I always find New Year very depressing) but I turned the telly on and it had started and I couldn’t stop watching it.

BigBertha1 Wed 03-Jan-24 22:31:54

Well just seen this and I'm not sure what I think other than must be easier ways than this.....won't say any more you have to watch it.

Calendargirl Thu 04-Jan-24 07:04:21

I started watching this and to my surprise was soon hooked.

Hope it doesn’t ‘go off’ as so many new dramas do.

Thought Lindsay Duncan looked her age, (and why not), far better than so many botoxed and fake breasted actresses.

In fact how refreshing to see such a stellar cast of older actors.

Primrose53 Thu 04-Jan-24 08:45:16

I enjoyed this too. Bit different.

YorkLady Thu 04-Jan-24 22:21:53

Looks like this will be a good series. I really like all the characters already.
The subject could be a hard watch for some but I think it will start conversations around the subject of assisted dying.

Grayling1 Thu 04-Jan-24 22:47:04

Agree with you York Lady. Good to see so many of my favourite TV actors and to be able to see and hear what's happening without having to adjust the TV controls. Also it is a subject already being discussed due to Esther Ranzen declaring her thoughts on this matter.

henetha Thu 04-Jan-24 23:34:44

Surprisingly good. I thought I would find it depressing but I was soon hooked and enjoying it. Lovely older actors too.

I find it chilling, but compulsive, viewing.

Phil comes across as quite hard and tough. She and Nigel don’t seem a pair.

Wonder what happened all those years ago with her and Ken? What prevented them getting together back then?

I expect all will be revealed.

LucyAnna Fri 05-Jan-24 09:39:35

I’ll probably get shouted at for saying this smile, but I thought Phil was quite brave (come to think of it, she was drunk) to proposition Ken. I’m the same age, and I could imagine flirting, but not suggesting going to bed with someone now.

I thought the ‘event’ on the boat was quite shocking - I thought it was going to be something much gentler.

MayBee70 Fri 05-Jan-24 17:55:34

Spoiler alert!
Surely, when there’s an inquest, it will be obvious that he didn’t die from drowning and that Phil, as an ex police officer, would know that. Also it would have been pretty obvious that it wasn’t going to be a trial run?

It was a ridiculous way to “go” - there would have been other, better ways?
Turns out Phil knew the coroner at the inquest, and tipped her a wink….

Don't understand why if you had a boat you would try to hang yourself. Take boat out into the middle of the ocean, jump overboard, no help needed.
If you are going to help someone die chuck the body overboard, it might never be found.
Thought this might be a good series but it lacks any real depth.

LucyAnna Fri 05-Jan-24 21:09:24

It’s turning into a black comedy

Parsley3 Wed 10-Jan-24 20:45:37

Mr P asked me what it was about and I said that it was a group of old people murdering each other, which it is. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far but I am puzzled as to why Ken seems to be so down on his luck. What did he do for a living?

Calendargirl Wed 10-Jan-24 20:59:57

I thought Ken worked for MI5 or similar?

Yes, why does he seem so down? Obv a back story with him and Phil also.

Rosalyn69 Wed 10-Jan-24 22:12:40

Quite brilliant. “On suicide watch and do not resuscitate”.
Just watched the first episode.

Primrose53 Wed 10-Jan-24 22:15:54

We are still wondering why they didn’t just take the small boat back to where they took it from.

Seems unlikely that a retired doctor could live in a tiny bungalow in bungalow land.

Calendargirl Thu 11-Jan-24 06:56:22

Where did Nigel think Phil had gone? She must have been away for some considerable time. No wonder he was lying wide awake when she finally crept into bed.

Don’t think a few candles arranged around the bath is going to save that marriage.

She was supposed to be at the cinema but was gone for many hours. I think he’s going to start following her again because he is sure she’s having an affair with Ken.

Patsy70 Thu 11-Jan-24 09:24:30

Great actors, some of my favourites, and I’m really enjoying it, although it is a very dark storyline. Ken was in the SAS, don’t know about MI5. They were obviously all at school together, as far as I made out. Looking forward to watching it unfold.

Louella12 Thu 11-Jan-24 09:35:40

I think it's ridiculous.

Poppyred Thu 11-Jan-24 10:26:21

After the first ‘kill’ they must have felt truly awful! Can’t imagine them wanting to do it again, ‘true love?’ Or not!
Agree with Louella12 ridiculous.
