The ones I watch (not particularly good I have to say ) are, apart from the news, Bargain Hunt ( British) and Millionaire (Australian with Eddie McGuire). Just a habit. I watch Vera a lot,too and another one we have here, Hard Quiz.

I love general knowledge quizes so try to catch Mastermind, University Challenge, House of Games and The Chase. I work funny hours (hospitality) so don't watch anything on a regular basis. By the time I get home I get my daily fix of Gransnet and then often go to bed.

I used to watch Corrie and sometimes Eastenders for a little relaxation and escapism but the stories are quite ridiculous now. We watch detective series on ITVX and BBC streaming but it would be nice to have something genuinely new to watch. My husband watches/listens to all the men’s junk like LBC and some of the low-grade news channels but I prefer to get my news from R4 unless there is something significant happening and I want to see what is going on.

We do watch The Chase if we're in but I do shout at it sometimes 😃

Callistemon21 Mon 29-Jan-24 17:58:11

When I gave up work and became a new mum, I got into Neighbours when it was launched, having been in Australia for a while before, I was quite into all things Australian

A small DC and I used to watch The Sullivans
A Place to Call Home is good too, if you can find it, it may be on Amazon.

The chase and coronation street.
Never miss it, although the story lines have become out of touch with reality . We moan like hell about it, but feel compelled to watch anyway.

Any news programmes.

When I broke my arm a couple of months ago and found myself at home more often, I started watching Escape To The Country, which has become a bit of a daily habit, I love it, I'm not so interested in those looking for a sizeable pile, I like the really characterful stone cottages found in so many beautiful places. If a new Four in a Bed is on, I'll watch that.

Back in the distant past I watched Coronation Street for a while and even Eastenders, but gave up on the latter too many angry Phil Mitchell type characters shouting and hollering.

When I gave up work and became a new mum, I got into Neighbours when it was launched, having been in Australia for a while before, I was quite into all things Australian. It also conveniently coincided with one of the numerous daytime feeds. Also the Scottish series, Take the High Road a welcome respite between coming back from my part time job and picking the children up from school. Nowadays I don't watch any soaps.

I don’t watch anything on a regular basis these days but, back in the day when I was a young mother I watched Pebble Mill at One every day. Really ahead of its time imo. These daysI don’t have daily watches but there are certain programmes which if I come upon whilst channel hopping I have to watch eg Homes Under the Hammer ( to think they were going to cancel it) First Dates, Antiques Road Trip. I can happily put Homes Under the Hammer on catchup and binge watch it!

oooh yes - had forgotten about Eggheads! Was addicted to that too.................

Anniel Mon 29-Jan-24 16:02:15

I listen to The Archers and belong to a FB Archers Group. I also watch every edition of Coronation Street on ITVX. I watch Sky News and GB news every night.. I am a radio addict and carry my phone and iPad with me in the house.

BlueSapphire Mon 29-Jan-24 15:38:09

Always used to watch Escape to the Country and Eggheads daily, but not bothered at the moment. No other daily programmes.
I always listen to the excellent breakfast and mid-morning programmes on my local BBC radio station. Good chat, interviews and local and national current affairs.

Diggingdoris Mon 29-Jan-24 14:37:41

DH and I watch Doctors after lunch everyday with a cuppa. I don't know what we'll do when that finishes, as we never miss an episode. I love Escape to the country when I remember to put it on. I like the antiques programmes too. Having said that, nothing beats a sit down with a good book.

dogsmother Mon 29-Jan-24 14:07:01

Apologies for not checking, that was. Bradley’d

dogsmother Mon 29-Jan-24 14:06:08

Countdown and the archers for a daily fix.
Love the house of games and I’m a bit of soap addict too………but I’m sorry to say I am Bradley’s out. Love him as I did. Please no more.

pamdixon Mon 29-Jan-24 13:49:15

Have to watch Countdown every day (though usually record it first to avoid the adverts) . I've hardly ever missed an episode since it started and made my children watch it after school! One son was on it, in his first year at Uni, and won about 4 games - I was a very proud mummy! Also addicted to the quizzes on Monday nights - Mastermind, Only Connect (same son writes some of the questions on Only Connect!!), and University Chellenge though I don't like the new presenter on UC, he talks too fast - and there are too many science based questions these days for the likes of me.........just saying!

mistymitts Mon 29-Jan-24 13:45:27

We have fun on Mondays Quiz Night, sadly unable to answer many of the questions but it’s still good.
I have half an hour four nights a week of EE when I can escape into soap opera. The one programme I listen to regularly is The Archers, habit learnt from my mother who listened when she was stationed out in Singapore in the 60’s. My grown up son has also picked up the habit, and I have several books on family trees in the Archers. Bit of a fan I suppose, plus you can cook at the same time!

Annma Mon 29-Jan-24 12:57:21

I record most programmes to watch later- Pointless,Only Connect,Escape to the Country. We watch Slow Horsesand Ted Lasso on Apple TV .We also love some of the Scandi noir series on Channel4 such as Beck.We rarely watch a live programme these days.

Grantanow Mon 29-Jan-24 12:48:01

Don't miss Breathtaking on ITV1 coming up in February. It's a drama about an NHS hospital during COVID originated by a real life doctor. It spells out the difference between the front line facts and the political lies. Probably as shocking as the Post Office drama.

Gin Mon 29-Jan-24 12:46:18

My regular programmes are mostly radio which, if
I am at home, I have on all the time usually tuned to Rado 4. The Archers is a must since childhood. I could do aMastermind on that subject.

On TV ‘Only Connect’ I watch evey week though I answer few of the questions. Other than that 10 o’clock news, goodness knows why, just habit I suppose but it is so depressing.

sodapop Mon 29-Jan-24 12:24:00

We are a diminishing group henetha

grandtanteJE65 Mon 29-Jan-24 12:20:24

I can live quite happily without TV, but I did use to watch Charmed and NCIS when they were sent daily.

(If DH hadn't watched them, I would never have known about them.)

GrammarGrandma Mon 29-Jan-24 12:03:13

Channel 4 news at 7pm. TV doesn't go on till then.

knspol Mon 29-Jan-24 11:59:24

Another Archers fan here, that and the 10pm news are my only
daily regulars.

henetha Mon 29-Jan-24 10:48:24

I'm a soap fan too, Sodapop, and not ashamed of it. I can't get into Emmerdale, but love EastEnders and Corrie.
