You should write to Tony B. and remind him and ask him to look into it. I wonder if they still have the recording. Not sure how they would ever make amends now though, but at least if it was recognised and they apologise?

I am still very cross with Tony Blackburn!

Many (45?) years ago my daughter entered a radio quiz and was through to the last two children, herself and a boy.

The final question was simple, 'how many donuts in a baker's dozen?'. My daughter opened her mouth to answer and Tony Blackburn said 'oh, I can hear that XX (my daughter) is having help, the prize goes to ZZ (the boy)'.

I had not said one word and the help was to the boy. As the prize was a computer - a wonderful prize at the time - my daughter was extremely upset at this unfairness and I have never forgiven Tony Blackburn!!

I know, I know, I should have managed to be over this by now!

Another Tony B joke

Ps my original point was that Tony Blackburn MAKES the show! His enthusiasm is utterly infectious and uplifting.

I totally agree. What a wonderful era the 60's were. I was a teenager bopping around the Mecca Locarno dance floor, the local town hall jive nights and it is wonderful that we can listen to our music when and where we want. All my playlists are of the late 50's and early 60's music. In summer, you will see me wearing my ear buds, bopping around the garden with my sweeping brush.

I always listen to Tony on BBC sounds every morning when I’m doing our company bank stuff, it wouldn’t be the same without him in the background, he’s such a lovely genuine man who is as passionate about his profession as the day he started.

Can’t wait for his live show later in the year at High Wycombe.

I have enjoyed Sounds of the Sixties since the days of Brian Matthew. I remember Tony Blackburn from the start of Radio 1, still listening to him on Saturdays but not at 6 a.m.!! I listen later on BBC Sounds.

Love the Saturday morning sixties programme. I listen to it on the BBC sounds app so I don't have to wake at six! Also I can fast forward the news in the middle, and the Dermot O'Leary chat!

I always have Tony’s Sounds of the Sixties on on Saturday mornings. It wouldn’t be a Saturday without him.

Tony does sound great for his age - better than Jonny Walker who is lovely but does sound a bit ancient.
