It has been announced today that a new series is currently being filmed, all crew and actors have had to sign a NDO.

Looking forward to it already.

Not a NDO but a NDA (I wish my iPad didn’t always think it knows better 🤣)

Oooh now that's something to look forward too smile.

Christmas showing, I believe.

I’m so ready for some quality light drama - it will be well written and with a great cast

Oh hurrah!! The series has just finished for the umpteenth time in ITV3 and I'm missing it already (although Foyle's War is a very pleasant substitute).

It will soon be on again, when they need to fill the schedules!

Great news

I loved Foyle's War Ailidh Michael Kitchen was excellent in the role.

Look forward to Downton as well.

Funnily enough Ailidh when like you I finished watching it again for the umpteenth time, I was thinking there's another series here.

For a start we could see Tom happily married again.

You need to watch both of the films…

I’ve just watched it all again on ITV3 but missed the last episode yesterday I’m annoyed as it was the last one. I’ve searched for it to watch but no luck. I’m really happy there’s going to be a new series can’t wait.

I thought the first film pretty poor - such a silly plot, and the characters looked like actors playing characters. It felt much more like Real Downton by the second film. I suspect I sat and beamed at the screen through both.

Not a huge Tom fan: a bully to Sybil in the early series, and in the later series seemed obsessed by telling everyone he met that "I came to Downton as the chauffeur", whether they'd evinced the slightest interest or not.

I thought the way my sympathies were moved one way or another by the scriptwriting was clever. The first time I watched it I came in part way through, and accepted that Mary was a callous btch and poor Edith her downtrodden victim. When I rewatched from the start, it was "poor" Edith that was the first btch (that we saw) when she wrote to the Turkish embassy about Mr. Pamuk.

Gosh! I've got withdrawal symptoms already! I'll have to go and stream episode 1!!!!!

Thank you GG13 I may watch the series again and look forward to a new series.

I only saw the first one, which I thought was a bit silly so didn't see the second. Have I missed something GG ?

Cold Wed 14-Feb-24 17:59:06

It won't be the same without Maggie Smith

Yes you have, won’t say what as it may spoil it.

The second film was far better than the first.
Tied up lots of lose ends.

What's the films title GG?

Downtown Abbey, A New Era

Oh no Ailidh Tom was lovely. Not a bully, and he often said he started off as the chauffeur to put people at their ease.

Smileless2012 Wed 14-Feb-24 19:48:15

Thanks GG.

Looking forward to it.
I have worked as an extra and had to sign a NDA. Think it’s pretty standard.

Some of the props for Downton Abbey (as well as other prominent TV series and films) were purchased from my vintage shop.
