Starting tonight on Channel 5.

A four-parter, starring Sally Lindsay.

The title says it all.

I intend to watch, no doubt it will turn out a bit of disappointment, as many of these dramas do, but it’s some thing to tune in to, plus some sunshine and nice scenery, Cyprus I think.

Remember seeing Neil Morrissey being interviewed by Piers Morgan, who brought up his ‘fling’ with Amanda Holden when she was married to Les Dennis.

Apparently Amanda had said what a great kisser he was!

Neil tried to look bashful and modest about this, and Piers looked green with envy.

Yes, his acting might not be great, but get him in a kissing clinch….

😘….

To be honest I don’t rate Neil Morrissey’s acting either. I do have a teeny bit of a soft spot for him because in his younger days he was very handsome and he was a better actor.

He had many years away from our screens and then he popped up in that drama where he was a newsagent who held on to a winning lottery ticket. He was recently in Finders Keepers about two men finding treasures that they don’t declare. In both of these he was extremely wooden and says his lines like he is reading them.

The actings dire but it’s the awful badly written story that does it for me whoever the author is I swear a school kid could do better it’s so childish and unicorn stuff
Yes women do get trumped out of money through falling for smoothies but they don’t then become limping sleuths trotting all over the country, getting into conveniently open houses, with conveniently placed computers and then just ‘finding’ keys to locked drawers not to mention the ability to search through a dead womans suitcase It’s so badly thought out and so childlike and so poorly written
I havens a clue why I m watching except I probably need to see just how bad it is
Last one tonight thank heavens

It is pretty bad but I have watched as we go to that area of Cyprus to catch the winter sun. Have yet to spot anywhere familiar.

At one stage last night I thought, “Goodness, she’s going to end up with Nico!”

Then ‘bang’!

So probably not.

Poor Neil Morrissey. Just hop on that plane, alone, and don’t look back.

(I too kept noticing the on/off limp).

Don't forget she promised her daughter she'd get the money back by Friday, without any help from the Police!

So in the real world do the Police take that attitude, that a con is not worth investigating because the money was handed over willingly, does anyone know?

The police take romance fraud very seriously.

Well despite me saying to enjoy the escapism I'm finding this is getting harder. Boy that episode was bad with so many holes in the plot that I lost count! The standout one for me is how her poorly foot suddenly recovered and she was walking with no limp. But don't get me started on holes in the plot or we'll be here all night.

Clawdy Wed 13-Mar-24 23:05:15

Those previews at the end of each episode give far too much away!
Most unbelievable moment ( out of many!) for me was her going to meet someone late at night in a wood on her own!

I'm an 18/20 and love Sally Lindsay's floaty clothes.

What a load of sh..e

I must say I do enjoy the Madame Blanc series and take it with a pinch of salt. Love Rat, however, is a load of rubbish.

I thought the Madame Blanc series had some charm which is more than can be said for Love Rat.

Where’s Dom when you need him?

Chestnut Wed 13-Mar-24 16:40:48

I think we should take it and enjoy it for what it is, a bit of escapism in a lovely setting. Much better than the awful stuff put out by the BBC/ITV with gruesome serial killers, dark filters and horrible nasty characters. I can't tell you how many I've turned off halfway into the first episode as they are so depressing.

I was telling my sister about it on the phone this morning. She had planned to binge watch it.

Without wanting to ‘spoil’ her future watch, I gave her a brief rundown of the comedy so far.

She was in fits of laughter, as was I, describing our heroine, gamely hobbling away in the dark to escape the gun toting estate agent, whose aim must have been so bad he couldn’t hit the proverbial barn door.

This is even worse than Madame Blanc but with all the same components.. inept police service, unbelievable characters, nice locations, awful balloon type dresses, old fashioned hair styles and one very unfit woman who is going to solve the mystery despite all odds.. In fact it is so badly scripted that it becomes almost compelling to see if it can posssibly get any worse

Also, I thought they said last night that the Police were corrupt as well, and ‘in on it’ all, the Mafia type dealings that Nico is involved with.

l think the suggestion of police corruption was to entice us to keep watching grin We are in fits watching it!

Unfortunately we don’t have enough tech savvy police to Pursue these crimes.

I like Sally Lindsay, but oh dear this is dreadful. I hoped last night it might improve, but no such luck.
However, stupid me is going to watch it again tonight. grin
(I need to know what happens!)

Kate1949 Wed 13-Mar-24 09:54:31

It's a shame really. It could have been a good story.

Primrose53 Wed 13-Mar-24 09:17:31

Allsorts

Very poor, predictable. Those tents she wears, not a good look. But they get paid for it.

I don’t think Sally Lindsay has much choice in what she wears as she is a good size 18/20 I think. So she opts for loose clothes rather than fitted T shirts and navel skimming skirts.

She was in another drama series a few months ago set in Australia and she wore the same type of voluminous clothes.

Marginally better than Big Brother? 😊

I’ve given up on that as well! 😂

Lilypops Wed 13-Mar-24 09:05:59

Is the daughter Susie the one in the advert ,for estate agent she is in a party in a lovely kitchen and she says. What did you pay for it” and the room goes silent ? Awful actress , ridiculous script. But I am hooked to know the ending.

Shelflife Wed 13-Mar-24 08:16:07

Very poor and unbelievable. A childlike production - daughter Susie is a dreadful actor!! I have never watched Madame Blanc , I now know why !!!;
