Starting tonight on Channel 5.

A four-parter, starring Sally Lindsay.

The title says it all.

I intend to watch, no doubt it will turn out a bit of disappointment, as many of these dramas do, but it’s some thing to tune in to, plus some sunshine and nice scenery, Cyprus I think.

I was looking forward to watching this when it was first advertised.

I have watched all four episodes and can't believe that the script is so bad. I always thought that Sally Lynsey was an OK actress, maybe it was the rubbish lines that she had to deliver. However, the actress playing the daughter was shocking.

Even thought there were huge holes in the plot and it was all very amateurish, I suppose it was easy to watch and reasonably entertaining.

I don't like police dramas or stuff about gangs and drugs so it can be difficult to find something decent to watch.

I read loads of books and am surprised that more of them haven't been picked up to make into dramas. Much better storylines than Love Rat!

Recorded this and just about to start watching episode three, I cannot believe how bad it is. It’s got more holes than a Swiss cheese but I will persevere. I don’t like to givevup on anything but I just can’t take it seriously 😜

It made me very annoyed but very sad that she was so desperate for affection and new love that she fell so easily into the trap. It appears to be far fetched but I’m quite certain it happens to lonely ,insecure people, men and women, seeking a loving relationship.
Haven’t seen all episodes so hoping it ends well.

Yes,unfortunately this does happen in real life.(Not the shooting and nail gun 'accident '......hopefully!) The documentary on romance scams highlighted just how lonely people can be taken in by these horrible criminals. They obviously totally believe they are in a 'love'match! So sad!

I actually thought she was supposed to be about 45. I know Sally Lindsay is 50 in real life.

Clawdy Mon 18-Mar-24 08:13:39

A little Nico?? She's fifty, don't think she needed to worry about condoms! Although you never know....!

Maggiemaybe Sun 17-Mar-24 20:51:53

‘Twas bad, certainly. But I’ve seen worse. Usually also on Channel 5, if my memory serves me well. smile

Millie22 Sun 17-Mar-24 20:34:52

My concern was whether she might have a little Nico on her return after she spent the night with him. I bet she didn't take any condoms. She's at that age when everything goes a bit strange with menopause.

Obvs that didn't happen as she wasn't pregnant.

Calendargirl Sun 17-Mar-24 17:46:15

Didn’t she leave the baby with his dad, Sonny?

Or was Sonny the name of the baby….?

Don’t suppose it matters really…..

confused

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 17:08:55

I wondered that too Pascal
Oh it was all so weak

pascal30 Sun 17-Mar-24 16:59:35

Also who did Susie leave her baby with when she rushed over..
who just leaves a baby..

Chestnut Sun 17-Mar-24 15:46:45

I agree there were too many clangers to name, but my favourite was her husband walking off to the airplane without even checking if she was with him, knowing she was likely to run! Yet he walked off without looking behind him, allowing her to head back and hand herself in. 😂

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 15:44:49

It was ridiculous, very poorly written, very poor storyline, poor acting (the daughter was truly awful) and I m cross to have spent 4 hours watching it

LovesBach Sun 17-Mar-24 14:56:04

There were so many awful clangers, but the outstanding one for me was when Emma decided to follow the bar waitress who was getting on a bus with her son, so she dashed into a car hire centre (adjacent to the bus stop, natch) and drove a car out just as the bus was pulling away. Less than thirty seconds to complete all the paperwork, get into the car, familiarise herself with the interior and chase the bus.

I was looking forward to this as I enjoy anything with Sally Lindsey. I found it disappointing with an over the top plot. It was only Emma's clothes and the scenery that made it endurable.

LadyGracie Sat 16-Mar-24 07:09:11

We managed about 15 minutes, I found the endless sighing by Sally Lindsey irritating.

Coolgran65

I'm an 18/20 and love Sally Lindsay's floaty clothes.

I am not that size am smaller but I like what she wears. I would love to find that red wrap dress she wears in the first episode when she gets dressed up for her first evening date with him.
Women should wear what they want, and she is comfortable, colourful and cool in the heat.

pascal30 Fri 15-Mar-24 18:36:47

and you won't be mistaken Delia

Delia22 Fri 15-Mar-24 16:56:21

I have yet to watch the final episode. I record to watch later( can't be bothered to sit through all the adverts!) As soon as the "chase and gun" sequence appeared I thought it had lost it for me. However much like other posters I have continued to watch,,hoping it will improve or to see how bad it gets.Judging by the comments on here,it will be the latter!

BlueBelle Fri 15-Mar-24 16:33:20

Well that’s was the biggest pile of whatsit I ever had the misfortune to sit through I was constantly hoping it would get better Dreadful, poor, poor story, dreadful writing, dreadful acting it really was the pits
I think you must be the only one who enjoyed it rockgran

rockgran Fri 15-Mar-24 13:50:13

Well I enjoyed it! I suspected there was more to Neil Morrissey's character.

Calendargirl Fri 15-Mar-24 13:02:01

Reviews on Facebook about ‘Love Rat’ seem to give it a ‘brilliant’, ‘loved it’ from most of the posters.

They must have watched a different version to us GN’ers.

Puzzlelove Fri 15-Mar-24 12:10:14

Watched all of it, a load of rubbish with bad acting and feel I wasted too much time watching it.

As for the love scams programme, I think it was on before but they rehashed it to make a new programme. So foolish sending anyone you don’t know money but I guess they pray on the vulnerable.

Louella12 Fri 15-Mar-24 10:19:41

Callistemon21

Has anyone watched Scam Interceptors on BBC?

I saw one of these. Elderly lady in USA I think. It was all terribly chaotic but I couldn't understand why they didn't just contact this lady's bank!

Marydoll Fri 15-Mar-24 07:53:21

It is so bad, DH and I love it!!!
