Is Charlie finally written out? I switched over from the Rugby to see him being waved off in a yellow VW.

I could tell you but it might spoil it for others who haven’t seen it yet.. You could probably google and find the answer.

Josh!! A blast from the past.

Charlie is Casualty!
If he's retired, how will it ever survive without him?

I remember reading that he was the highest paid actor on tv at one point which astonished me.

I liked the character he played on Casualty, but was he really such an outstanding actor to warrant a huge salary?

Derek Thompson is Irish - I remember seeing him in a play or series set in Ireland many years ago and was surprised to hear his accent.

Apparently Casualty actors are the highest paid at the BBC.
They do have to deal with a lot of blood and gore.

True Callistemon21 !

I frequently have to look away at certain gory scenes. They are so realistic these days aren’t they?
The make up artists are the real stars!

were you aware his real age is 78?

Georgesgran Sun 17-Mar-24 06:56:52

Born April 1948. No spring chicken.

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 08:05:13

Well he doesn’t look 78 unless these were filmed way back when, reckon he’s done his time
Don’t understand how he s the highest paid tv actor but guess it’s the longevity but more than Ken Barlow ? ? who s what 90 something and still going strong

sodapop Sun 17-Mar-24 08:40:25

Born 1948 does not make him 78. Looks good for 76 though.

BlueBelle Sun 17-Mar-24 08:50:13

Haha, sodapop 76 still looks ok though

MK28 Sun 17-Mar-24 09:59:10

Callistemon he is originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland but has lived in England since the 70s.

Can anyone help me as to where the old Charlie hospital scenes were filmed? It was supposed to be at The London of old, I think, but something tells me the set and the outside shots were of that series The Royal, in Yorkshire I think??

No, it was filmed in different areas of Bristol for years.

After the episode with the fire in 2011 (which my DD was in) filming moved to Cardiff.

Barleysugar Sun 17-Mar-24 13:27:05

I think latterly it was filmed in Cardiff.

annodomini Sun 17-Mar-24 14:19:42

Would anyone take a bet on Charlie appearing in the next series of Strictly?
