It was a lovely surprise to hear Tony Blackburn on the radio this morning. He's such a professional and sounded just the same as he always did. Happy memories.

Used to love listening to Radio Caroline. Such great music. I too loved Johnny Walker and his love of soul music. It felt so immediate with their talk of cars flashing their lights at the ship across the sea.
I listened to Radio London (Tony Blackburn. Kenny Everett). Found Caroline too loud and shouty. In East Anglia we were glad of the Pirates because regular BBC radio reception was awful.
When the pirates were shut down I listened to Radio Veronica. I had started learning German by then so could understand some of the Dutch. Then I moved to Germany (1976)
