Just wondered if anyone else had watched Baby Reindeer on Netflix? We decided to give it a go - hadn't seen or heard anything about it, and I have to say it's a very powerful and moving piece of television, although not an easy watch. Deserves all the awards...

I’ve just finished the final episode. Very dark especially as based on the writer/actors life experience. An excellent series, good dialogue and very good actors.
Episode 4 and the final episode were disturbing and really showed how the main character’s vulnerabilities drew him to the male abuser as well as the stalker

Baby Reindeer , an absolutely watchable yet horrendous series . As you watch you can see how Richard Gadd ( the writer, actor & person this happened to ) was somewhat drawn into Martha’s world .
She obviously needs help and he is very brave to of put his story out there . What a drama , which as others have said deserves many awards . We binged it btw

It was recommended to me so I did give it a go.
To say I enjoyed probably isn’t right, but as others have said powerful and disturbing.
It was a brave man who put his life out there for all to see.

I watched it (all episodes) the other night. Brilliant acting by Jessica Gunning. What an emotional rollercoaster, particularly when you stop to remember that the main character was played by the man who experienced it all.

It was definitely a very uncomfortable watch in parts. It reminded me in some ways of Michaela Coel's I May Destroy You.

I think life lived on the fringes of ‘entertainment’ and drugs/sexual preferences and practices can indeed be very dark, illustrating the dangers therein. I thought this drama (based on a true story) was unsettling, gripping and emotional. Totally believable and first class acting. I engaged with all the characters that were portrayed. There was so much that made me feel uncomfortable whilst watching. It was gripping - rather than ‘enjoyable’.

I found this disturbing and had to leave it alone. I wonder what this kind of stuff is doing to my MH.

I appreciate it's not for everyone. Personally I love anything dark and twisted.

I used to enjoy these sort of did he/ didn't he type of things. All is not well in Midsommer , that style, where something was alluded to.

I foud this disturbing. Maybe we cahnge or what is considered entertaining has changed.
Bring back The Onedin Line and Tenko!

The ‘stalker’ was well played by Jessica Gunning. A bit dark but a gripping true story.

The last episode made me cry.

It certainly puts the viewer through the emotional wringer, doesn't it?

Syracute Wed 17-Apr-24 14:53:21

It was excellent . It is dark and sometimes a hard watch but well worth it !

Grammar watchers - apologies - ‘are my thing’

crazyH Wed 17-Apr-24 12:48:03

I will be watching it, for sure. True stories is my thing.

MissInterpreted Wed 17-Apr-24 12:45:49

It's even more harrowing when you discover that it's based on a true story, and happened to the actor who actually plays the lead role (who obviously wrote it too).

Bea65 Wed 17-Apr-24 11:40:08

I watched it last week and yes, harrowing in parts but enjoyable..Jessica Gunning - Martha, is a great actress and has been in quite a few top series...

OldFrill Wed 17-Apr-24 11:27:49

I watched the first episode which l quite enjoyed but as l thought it would get progressively harrowing l don't intend to watch any more.
