Having just watched the first semi finals of Eurovision I was shocked at how it has changed. Once a competition to find the best song it now seems that the musical composition is irrelevant and the main focus is on the sometimes hideous and overtly erotic performances by the so called artists wearing very little.. Time to call it a day as I fail to see how it can be taken seriously.

Well done Ollie, brilliant performance, popular and different.

I don't like our offering.

It reminds me of Frankie Goes To Hollywood- Relax.
But much worse

Not my cup of tea either! I guess there will be many who enjoyed it though.

Ah, thank you. smile

I don't know who it was, towards the beginning.
There was a big girl rapping, while another sang.
I liked that

I enjoyed Ireland performance. It was different and I love that sort of dark stage act.

MissAdventure Sat 11-May-24 20:58:05

I've got the words up on my screen.
Some of the songs are strange smile

Joseann Sat 11-May-24 20:54:46

I actually think the acts have been pretty normal so far.

MayBee70 Sat 11-May-24 20:53:21

I only heard the songs in the semis ( I usually listen on utube beforehand) and must say I’m liking some of them a lot more on second hearing. Really enjoying it!

I'm watching it now.
I've certainly seen much worse than this year's offerings.

Yes me too.

What a lovely performances by Israel and Ukraine.

BlueBelle Sat 11-May-24 20:38:50

We would have won Eejit a couple of years ago, with Sam Ryder he was only beaten because of a sympathy vote for Ukraine

I m not watching what has our chap done to the Union Jack ?

Olly Alecxnder should be withdrawn. He as no respect for our flag, therefore he has no respect for the country.

As for the whole caboodle, it's time we withdrew. It's something like 27 years since we last won and who knows how long since we came close. Yet another waste of our licence money

He'll have nil point. I hope.

I left with Katie Boyle and never went back

GrannyGravy13 Sat 11-May-24 19:02:45

EEjit U.K. came second in 2022 with Sam Ryder singing Spaceman he was beaten by Ukraine.

sharon103 Sat 11-May-24 18:59:01

I used to watch it years ago.
It's gone downhill over the years and political with the voting.
It's about time it was scrapped.

Golan’s security has been so perilous that Ronen Bar, the head of Shin Bet, Israel’s security service, personally flew to Malmo to oversee her security, and all 20 of the Israeli delegation were instructed to stay in their hotel rooms under round-the-clock security.

“It’s incredible that in the middle of a war, Shin Bet’s head felt the need to go to Malmo because of the safety fears,” a source told The Telegraph.

Indeed.

Caterina Irene Elena Maria Boyle, Lady Saunders (née Imperiali dei Principi di Francavilla; 29 May 1926 – 20 March 2018), usually known as Katie Boyle, was an Italian-born British actress, writer, radio announcer, television personality and game-show panellist. She became best known for presenting the Eurovision Song Contest on a record four occasions: in 1960, 1963, 1968 and 1974; the first three in London and the last in Brighton, England.

I'm just glad Katie Boyle isn't alive too see what's going on

😁

I used to love listening to her panache. Switching to the various languages she was proficient in. She was always very elegant wasn’t she?

“Good evening Germany/France/Portugal what are your scores?”

Last one I watched - and the first for many years - was the amazing my Sam Ryder. It’s all gone silly again but COME ON ISRAEL !

It's fun ! Does anyone out there remember fun? If you don't like it,you have the remote. Switch off !

Agreed, lots of people like it. I will be watching, giving my partner the hump, as he would watch the sports channel day and night.
I don't understand the people who are disgusted by it, it is popular, the staging in parts is spectacular, and I don't find the UK entry offensive.

BlueBelle Sat 11-May-24 17:16:09

Well none of my teen and twenties grandkids watch it or have ever mentioned it so not sure who all these young people are that love it so much
Sam Ryder has been our only hope in years and years he was really good, it was so disappointing he had to give first place up, and really unfair
I d be very very surprised if we come anywhere tonight but I ll see it on the news couldn’t manage watching it all
