E45 Advert

I saw it too and I just thought ‘really’.

I wouldn’t have thought that trans skin was any different from anyone’s skin, but what do I know.

I was just going to ask what’s transitioning skin when the penny dropped.

If you are interested please take a good look at the price. I used to buy E45 anti-itch cream for my lower legs but the price jumped from £6 something to £10 something and there is little for that money.

Just one more product they have dissuaded me from buying.
There really was no need to change to change the adverts as it just originally covered the fact it was good for all skin types.

Exactly Bridie it should just be advertising the advantages to all skin types not concentrating on one
Never buy any of the stuff anyway I think it’s a con just use soap and water, a lot cheaper

The market they're targeting is, despite what we read, very small but are alienating a much larger market.

I cannot see the advantage of this apart from pandering to political correctness or wokeness . Though I admit that I am not even sure which this falls under , before I get hit from the political correctness bods amongst us .

They will find out soon enough when the sales drop dramatically. There was no necessity to single out and pander to political correctness. We each do what we want irrespective of who or what we are.

I can't see why anyone is getting upset about this to be honest, why should sales drop?

I haven’t seen this, but I am minded to seek an alternative when I run out.

Isnt the skin of trans people just skin?

I cannot see why there would be a problem with trans people using cosmetics, but why make special products for them when their skin is the same?

Why target a very small minority when there are a great many of us who use emollients?
There are many creams and lotions for sale and I haven't used E45 for a long time and they won't entice me back with this advert.

My skin reacted very very badly to the Covid boosters, every part of my body apart from my face (thankfully).
It's still not right now.
I would have every sympathy with someone whose skin was similarly affected by the hormone treatment involved in transitioning.

... but those skin changes are not much different from the skin changes that most people experience at some stages in their lives.

They mention surgery - how scarring can develop into keloids... but that happens with any type of surgery.

Skin is skin and it needs to be kept clean and 'hydrated', soft and supple and I don't think transgender skin is any different to anyone else's.

It's marketing... "see how we care about you".

Actually, a bit of research will show that quite a few people say E45 irritates their skin.

And if the trans community are experiencing any real problems after surgery - they probably need some prescription emollient..

It won't stop me from purchasing it, if I ever need to, but I think it's nonsense advertising. As is the price.

The only experience I have of trans skin is a nice lady I used to chat to. She happened to mention that she was in her 40s and I complimented her on her skin. She told me it was the effect of the hormones she had to take. She didn't seem to have any skin problems that needed E45

I wondered about this too but I suppose my husband's skin is different to mine and hairy so if he wanted to transition I think he'd need a decent moisturiser.
So that would come under "transitioning skin" I think.
It would definitely need work.

😂 Mine has gone from ‘old hag’ to ‘raddled old hag’ - too many years spent in hot desert climates.
Little Gdd1 at maybe 6, bless her, told me in her innocence that there were anti-wrinkle creams I could buy - she’d seen them advertised on TV.
